In this video, belly dancer Irina Akulenko teaches you how to do hip lifts and a basic shimmy. You'll be shaking it like Shakira in no time. So, now, we are going to go over the basic hip lift. Let's assume our basic belly dance posture position. So, the legs are right under the hip bones. Knees are bent. Lower abs are tucked, chest lifted, arms out. And now you are going to bend the knees even more than before and focus on lifting one hip at a time by straightening one knee at a time. So, as you straighten the right knee, the right hip will come up and it is going to shoot straight up into your body. So you want to think about meeting your hip bone up to the ribcage coming back down to center. Switching over to the other side, straightening that knee, coming back down. Make sure you're keeping your heels on the floor and you are not lifting up with any point. And again, lifting the hip up and back down to neutral position, the other side back down to position. Now, skip that hold in the middle and you're going to go up, and up and up, and up. And, the closer your are to the ground, the easier it will be to find that isolation. Let's try that with music. And a little bit faster, keeping your heels on the floor, chest floating out, arms relaxed. Make sure you are not moving in space and your head is not bopping up and down. And faster. And full speed. And that is the basic hip isolation.

Let me show you the way to do that. You can increase your push up count considerably with this quick and easy routine. First thing you want to do is you want to do some jumping jacks to warm up your body, ok. Just a few. If you can do 25, 30 great. Jumping jacks are simple just like this, ok. Now once your body is warmed up this is the routine you'll really have to do to increase your push up count. The first thing you're gonna wanna do is do diamond push ups to exhaustion and when I mean to exhaustion I mean till you literally cannot push yourself off anymore, ok. And a diamond push up is when your hands are on the ground and it looks like this it's making a diamond. Alright, starting position your arm is straight gonna come down as far as possible gonna push yourself back up. Now again work to exhaustion. Then I want you to wait 30 seconds. Do a normal push up where your hands are normal length. Shoulder width apart, ok. Again you're going to exhaustion. And I'm gonna tell you the reason you're gonna go in this order in just a few minutes. Now we're gonna do wide grip push ups. So your hands are gonna be even farther apart then the normal grip of course. Nice and wide. So in between each of the diamond, the normal and the wide grip you're gonna be taking a 30 second break, gonna be working each to exhaustion. All of those three exercises is one set. You're gonna wanna do three of those every other day and if you're used to where you can do those three exercises without any problems do four sets then five sets then six sets however long you have to go until basic training. Now here's a tip when you're doing diamond push ups you're working your fast twitch muscle fibers in your triceps. When you're doing wide grip you're working your slow twitch muscle fibers in your chest. You're building up your chest your arms and your triceps all on one where you do each of the three variations of push ups. So if you could do twenty push ups before you even start this exercise you should easily be able to do 80 without stopping after you've done a few weeks of this exercise.

Because you likely interrupted dream-intense REM sleep, you’re now 20% to 50% more likely to have a lucid dream. Tip So George Clooney is about to kiss you and you feel like you’re starting to wake up? Pretend to spin around in circles. This keeps the dream going 96% of the time. Step 5: Start directing Once you’re attuned to the fact that you’re dreaming, start altering the action. Fly over mountains. Tell off your mother-in-law. Have a 'dream' date. You can also test problem-solving scenarios, practice sensitive confrontations, and speak to loved ones who have passed. Did You Know? So consider this a head start. Step 1: Rinse rice Place the rice in a mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water. Pick out any debris you might find in the rice, such as weird little pebbles or odd-looking grains of rice. Step 2: Soak rice Place the rinsed rice in your 2-quart pot and fill the pot with water until it's about one inch above the rice. Let this soak for 30 minutes. Step 3: Rinse rice again Place the soaked rice back in the strainer and rinse it again under cold running water until the water runs clear. Step 4: Boil rice Place the rinsed, drained rice back in the saucepan and add 2 1/4 cups of cold water. Cover the pot, place it over high heat, and bring it to a boil. Step 5: Turn down heat Once at a boil—you'll see steam and bubbles escaping from under the lid—turn the heat down to the lowest possible setting. Step 6: Let rice simmer Let the rice simmer for 20 minutes. Set a timer and don't lift the lid to check on the rice until it goes off. Tip If there's still water in the pot after 20 minutes, put the lid back on and let the rice cook a few more minutes until all the water is absorbed. Step 7: Boil mixture While the rice is cooking, place the rice vinegar, salt, and sugar in the smaller, 1-quart pot and bring it to a boil on medium high heat, stirring regularly until the salt and sugar dissolve. Add the konbu to the vinegar mixture and turn off the heat. Set the pot aside to cool. Step 8: Let rice sit Once the rice has absorbed all the water, turn off the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes with the lid still on. Step 9: Spread out rice Dump the rice into a large non-metal bowl and spread it out with a wooden spoon so it will cool down faster. Tip Don't scrape the bottom of the pot—any dried, crusty bits of rice will add a funny flavor and texture to your sushi. Step 10: Pour mixture Remove the konbu from the cooled vinegar and slowly pour the mixture over a spoon into the cooked rice, gently stirring and tossing to combine and cool it.That's it; you've just saved yourself years of practice! So right now I'm going to share with you five advanced techniques, some moves that you might not always think about, but some pretty interesting ways to kind of use your body and coordinate some motion. The first example is something called a rose move, and a rose move is when you actually open away from the walls, that your hips are facing in a different direction. Often times the way the holds are laid out on the wall will dictate whether or not these types of moves are going to be necessary. So the rose move would be when my left hand was here, and I'm crossing underneath with my right hand, turning my hips away from the wall. Another example of an advanced technique will be what's known as a knee bar. A knee bar is when you're using not necessarily your knee, but more commonly the to of your thigh, and you're going to use that thigh and your foot to really create some opposition and allow your body to really be weighted on just that knee bar, and the tension that you're getting between those two points. So right there you'll notice I can take all my body weight and place it right here on this knee bar with my left foot really pushing and getting that thigh up against that hold, which allows me to turn this corner. One other technique would be similar to using a toe hook, except you're using two toe hooks at the same time, which is also known as a bat hang. In this instance, a bat hang allows me to make this change in angle and complete this transition. So that would be a bat hang. Another technique is something known as a bicycle, and a bicycle is where you're using the bottom side of your toe and the top of your toe, which would be a toe hook, at the same time to basically squeeze one hold or two holds together to create that same sense of opposition, almost like closing a vice. So right here I'll use a bicycle on this yellow hold to keep both of my feet up, keep my body in position. So in this position, you can see one leg is pulling, the other leg is pushing the whole time, I have my core involved to help keep those legs up, my body in position. That's how you use a bicycle. The final move here is something known as a drop knee. The drop knee is a great way to kind of lower your center of gravity, and keep it in your base of support, which are the contact points you have with the wall. When your center of gravity is lower, your base of support, it makes you more stable, more capable of doing a move slowly, with a bit more control. So to get into the drop knee, I'll place my left foot on this hold, and then literally turn my knee in, dropping it down, and twisting up. That drop knee allows you to really keep your center of gravity nice and low within your base of support, making your body nice and balanced and stable, really allows you to suck that hip in nice and close to the wall, to get a little bit of extra reach out of that whole system. And those are a couple of advanced bouldering techniques you might encounter here in the gym.

We're in New York. And I'm going to teach you how to tie the Merovingian knot. It's also called Ediety knot. So the way you want to start for this knot, it's a knot that goes around the narrow side quite a few times, so you want to wear the wide end fairly long compared to the narrow end, probably about 20 inches below depending on the length of your tie. So this is how you start. The wide end goes underneath the narrow end. You go over the top once and pull it out on the same side. So this is what you have. Now you go over to the front, underneath through the back, and now you should be in this position so the tie is upside down. So this is a tie from my friend Cara Patrizio from Capelli in Naples, Italy. And this is how you proceed. So your tie is upside down. You go around the back, through the top. You're almost there. Now the last step you have to complete is reverse the knot, loosen it gently, and slide the white part inside the loop that you've created for that. Adjust it nicely. Tighten the knot, and there you go. You have your Merovingian knot. So after spending so much time tying the knot, it's something you don't want to wear when you're really casual. It's really a knot that is used in formal occasions, probably wearing a three piece suit, for example, or a nice blazer. And definitely going with a sophisticated look with this type of knot. The guy who created this knot probably watch Matrix a little bit too much, but this is probably where the name came from, the Merovingian knot.

First of all the marines, they are considered riflemen first. They have more marksmanship training than any other branch, and it has the most difficult basic training regimen. They have the incredible ability to convert dollar power into combat power, as they have no big budget like the Air Force, but they also have lots of military pride. Let's talk about the army, which has the second most intense basic training regimen. They have about three weeks of marksmanship, and recruits can pick from hundreds of different MOS's, which stands for military occupational specialty, and those MOS's translate well into civilian jobs. The navy: deep rooted with tradition, and if you like to travel this is the branch for you. Family men might want to consider the time they are going to spend away from their family though, given the fact that all of the time you are going to spend on ships. Also, if you are claustrophobic, it might not be a good idea to join the Navy, as you are going to be spending a lot of time in tight quarters. If you like large vessels and ships, the Navy is definitely the way to go. They have an awesome inventory of powerful ships. Let's talk about the Air Force. An impressive compilation of machinery and technology. If you are good with computers and technology this is definitely the branch that you should join. It also has the best housing of all the branches too. It's also the most difficult to get into as far as education requirements. The Coast Guard, Uncle Sam's little canoe club. If you like search and rescue missions, if you have an interest in maritime law, if you like environmental protection this is gonna be a good branch for you. You are going to need a high school diploma, and you are going to need to love to swim in order to join the coast guard. And that's it. Think long and hard about your decision because it is difficult to change once you have committed to a certain branch.

I'm Charles from Louis Purple, and I'm going to teach you how to do the Christensen knot, a.k.a. the cross knot. This knot was made popular by Amanda Christensen who used to be a tie maker and who really made this knot popular. So it's still pretty rare, and I would say fairly difficult to tie, but I'm sure with a little bit of practice you will get a hold of it. So this is how you proceed. You want to have the wide end on the right hand side, the narrow end on the left hand side, like usual, except this time you want to have the wide end a little bit, much longer than the narrow end, probably about 20 inches depending on the width and the length of your tie. This is how you proceed. The wide end goes over the narrow end. It goes underneath. You pull it up and slide it inside between the neck and the knot. And you pull it on the left hand side. So this is what you should have. And now the tricky part. Just put your fingers so that you still keep enough room to slide it in after you went twice over and underneath. And then it's a regular way to finish the knot. Once you went twice over the narrow end with your fingers, you don't want to pull it too tight. Otherwise it's going to be hard to slide it in. But this is the result you want to obtain. You adjust the knot. You have this cross shape. That's the particularity about the Christensen knot. I think it's a really elegant look with any tie, even though it works great with skinny ties. So this is how you tie the cross knot, or also called the Christensen knot.

Step 1: Use a harness and leash Use a small, H-type harness that fits the cat, and a cotton or nylon leash. A harness fits if you can barely get a finger between the cat and the harness. Step 2: Get the cat used to the harness Get the cat used to the harness by putting it on them without buckling it. Tip Put the harness on the cat during playtime when the cat is more likely to be comfortable. Step 3: Reward the cat Reward your cat with plenty of treats and affection. Petting your cat during your training sessions will help your feline friend associate the harness with positive feelings. Step 4: Buckle one loop Continue putting the harness on the cat each day until the cat ignores it. After that, you can buckle one of the harness's loops for 30 seconds. Step 5: Build up to three loops Build up to buckling the entire harness, one loop at a time. The process can take several months. Once your cat is comfortable with the harness completely buckled, let them walk around while wearing it. Step 6: Add the leash Add the leash when your cat is comfortable with the harness. Let them walk around with the leash for as long as it takes to get used to it. Step 7: Go for practice walks Go for practice walks around the house for a few days. Step 8: Go for the first walk Go for a walk when your cat is used to you holding the leash. Let them lead you on the first few walks. Bring treats along for encouragement. Tip Make sure it is quiet outside when you go for your walk. You don't want your cat to get spooked. Step 9: [Tug the leash lightly] Tug the leash lightly to lead the cat on subsequent walks. Step 10: Be patient Be patient. Teaching a cat to walk on a leash takes time. Take the training process day by day, moving on to each step only when your cat is ready. Did You Know? The most important thing is how to finish your flair routine. You're doing all sorts of stuff, bottles are going all over the place, everyone's sitting there like this watching everything you're doing all in awe, how do you finish, how to you pour the bottle? The last thing you want to do is do all this crazy stuff, and then just take the bottle and go like that, it's anticlimactic, it doesn't work. So what we want to do is we want to learn how to do is Flip to Pour. What you're going to do is you're going to hold your bottle in what's called a bartender grip. Instead of holding it like this, we're going to hold it by the neck just like a bartender would take it out of the bottle or out of their well. What we're going to do is we're going to take our bottle, we're going to take our tin, the mouth is going to face up because that's what we're going to pour it into. We're going to take our bottle and you're going to snap it outward, away from your body, and what you're going to do is as soon as you let go of your bottle you're going to simply open your hand and the bottle is going to fall right back into it. It looks like this, it's really easy actually. It's a one-rotation, you're just going to snap, open, and let the bottle fall into your hand It's already in a pouring position. With your other hand you're going to have your tin set here ready to go. You're going to flip, catch, and you're already pouring the bottle. Then as you get more and more comfortable, you go to glass with liquid in it. Because we're flipping the bottle centrifugal force is involved so we want to make sure that the bottle has less than two ounces, or two ounces or less. Any more than that and this move can't be done, we'd have to figure out a different way to pour. Maybe we could take the bottle and throw it around our head, but in this case what we're going to do is, we're going to take our bottle, our tin, we're going to set it, we're going to flip, and we're going to pour. When you're done you bring your bottle down to cut the pour and then were going to just put our tin on the bar. If we're doing shots maybe we'll pour it straight from a tin into our glass. So again, just to reiterate the concept, we're going to take our bottle, we're going to put our tin here, we're going to flip our bottle, catch our bottle, and pour. When we're ready to stop we're going to simply bring our bottle down, we're going to pour it into our glass or whatever we're pouring it into, and that is how you do a Bottle Flip to a Pour.

This technique is called sankyo. Or number three in the series of techniques that O'Sensei established. And again, this whole series, one through five, is going to start with ikkyo. So if we look at shomenuchi, ikkyo, you meet and down. Again, I want to lift the hand so that I'm looking at the palm of my partner's hand. Reach underneath. I'm going to wrap my fingers right around the inside of the palm. And the fingers are another aspect that I have. I'm going to step back. And think about pointing all of this directly at your partner as they turn and cut. Again, this is very similar to the sword work that we do in aikido. Again, I don't want to point the fingers down and cut with the butt of the sword. I want to try to cut out with the tip and the elbow of the sword. And I'm going to continue to move around the front, irimi tenkan and down. The pin incorporated here, sankyo pin. Alright. So again, you start with ikkyo. Ikkyo, lift, take the hand and step back, cut, irimi tenkan, straight down on the shoulder and pin. So if we look at the ura variation. Again, I move to the back side first, lift, continue to move behind and down, spiraling movement towards ugay's back. Up for the pin, pull through. Ura, lift, hand position, tenkan, and back. Up for the pin, pull through. Couple other variations that we'll often see, straight down, straight up. Can also use sankyo to create openings for other techniques. Sankyo, number three.

Then, you want to take your tongue, and you want to touch every single one of your teeth on the front, top, the back top, the front bottom, and the back bottom. Like this. Faster. One more time. Good, blow through your lips. Blow through your tongue, and shake out your face. Okay. Next, I want you to isolate your lip corners. So, if you isolate your lip corners, you bring them straight back. Kind of this worthless weird grin. And then go into relaxation. Good, now bring them forward. Good, now relax. Next, I'd like you to channel and bunch your tongue. This is a really challenging one so try to use a mirror, and watch yourself do it, and you'll get the muscles. Next, I'd like you to exercise your soft palette, or your velum. It's the part that moves when you yawn. So, I want you to yawn. Lovely, now yawn on the right side only. It helps to use your right hand, and then yawn on the left side only. Good, now yawn on both sides. Good, now you really feel your soft palette, when it feels raised. So, in our accent trainings, sometimes the soft palette will be raised, sometimes it will be dropped, but you know where your soft palette is now. Next, I want you to play with some tongue tip action. So, bring you tongue tip to your alveolar ridge. It's that little gum ridge right behind your front teeth, right here. And, I just want you to go la, and bring the tongue tip down. La, la, great. Now, la, le, li, lo, lu, and you rest your tongue behind your bottom teeth each time. Then, you learn if you learn nothing else from me, this is the trick you want to take away. Okay, so you want to stick your tongue out and articulate a phrase around your tongue. You're overworking the muscles of your tongue. It's like when a baseball player picks up a bat and weight's it before he goes up to the plate, and then when he goes up to the plate, he takes the weight off, and it's easy to swing. This is the same concept. Okay, so your line of text was, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". Hamlet's Advice to the Players. You want to stick your tongue and say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". And, then you stick your tongue back in and it's quite easy to say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". So, practice these articulator exercises every day, five minutes, and then you'll be in great shape for some accent training.

A volley kick is a very advanced technique, it's a very advanced technique, so beginners shouldn't try this yet. If you have at least two years of training, maybe you can give this a try. I'm going to demonstrate, and I'm going to first explain to you as easy as possible. I'm going to stay in a fighting stance. First, a volley kick is like a back turn, but this time with an angle, so like this. One. I'm going to throw my back leg up in the air, two. One more time. One, two. It's almost like a roundhouse kick, but you have to kick and try to land with the same leg, something like that. One more time. One, two, three, and these are the drills that you guys can go in the beginning. I like to now to a step four. I like to do my volley kick with my left leg, so I'm going to bring my left leg behind. I'm going to step forward for the momentum, one, one more time. Don't turn your shoulders, make sure. One, turn, bring the leg up, and throw that kick like this. Now it's a little harder if you go slowly. It's actually a lot more easier if you go fast. I'm going to actually demonstrate it now with my partner over here. He's going to be holding the target. Again, beginners, you don't have to go this high, okay? You can hold it like here. This is the best distance for me. I like to stand up, again, left leg back fighting stance, because I'm going to be kicking with my left leg because I'm going to be stepping forward. Now I'm going to step forward and do the volley kick. I'm going to demonstrate, and have a good landing. One more time. I'm in my fighting stance, step forward, and that's how you do a volley kick.

Push-ups are great because you don't need any equipment. You can do them anywhere. There's a couple of different variations of doing a push-up, and I'm going to give you some key tips to look out for so you can do them most efficiently, most effectively. Let's come on down. You can do a modified push-up which would be on the knees. I've heard some people call these girl push-ups. There's really no such thing as a girl push-up because guys can do these too. It just depends on whether you need to modify the push-up or not. They are just variations of each other. I'm going to start with the modified push-up. Your hands are probably going to be about shoulder width apart. Just find something comfortable. The biggest mistakes people make here are to internally rotate the hands and potentially put a lot of strain on the shoulder. You want to just get that shoulder into a nice neutral position. You want to watch out that your butt is not back here. It's not wrong to do a push-up here. This is just a very modified version. You're taking away a lot of the weight from the upper body. The purpose is to bring the weight into the upper body. That's what you're working against to make you stronger. You're going to inhale as you go down, just bending at the elbow, and then exhale like you're blowing the floor away. Inhale to come down, exhale like you're blowing the floor away. If you wanted to make it harder, you would take it off of the knees. Same thing, bending the elbows, exhale, drawing the abdominals in, and coming up. The wider your legs are here the easier it's going to be to balance. If you want to challenge the stability, you could move the legs in. Starting with the knees, and maybe even doing a one knee push up. That would be kind of intermediate, something between the modified and the full push-up if you're not ready to go immediately from one to the other. When you're in the push-up, let's start with the head, making sure that your head is not dropping. Sometimes we think we're going further down or not, just our head is. Keeping your head in line so the cervical spine doesn't take any stress, and then the rest of your back too. You want to make sure you're not leading with your hips and breaking. This means that you're not really properly engaging your core. Engage your core. Draw the belly muscles in. Keep your head in line. Inhale to take it down, exhale to come up. There's your push-up, targeting all the major muscle groups of the upper body, mostly the pecks, the chest muscles, the anterior delts, the front of your shoulder, and as you go through elbow flexion and extension, you're working your triceps.

Step 1: Assume the postion Stand in a comfortable stance with your feet shoulder-width apart and your elbows bent at about a 90-degree angle. Step 2: Start with one ball Start by practicing throwing one ball back and forth between your hands in a nice, gentle arc. You want to keep your elbows in and your throws consistent, with the ball arcing at about eye level. Tip Using beanbags when you first begin can be helpful, since they won’t roll away when you drop them! Step 3: Practice with your eyes closed You’ll probably find that your throws go awry a little at the beginning, so keep practicing until you can throw the ball back and forth with your eyes closed. Step 4: Add another ball Add another ball. With one in each hand, throw a ball as before and—before it comes down—throw the other ball underneath so it lands in your other hand. Practice catching both balls. Tip As you practice, alternate starting with either hand. Step 5: Add a third ball Put two balls in your dominant hand and one in the opposite hand. Toss the balls just as before, but add a third throw right before the second ball comes down. Keep practicing until you can make three throws and three catches. Step 6: Keep throwing and catching Once you’re confident catching all three balls, add a fourth throw and catch, and a fifth one, and so on… Don’t look now, but you’re juggling! Did You Know? Did you know? 'Joggling,' jogging while juggling, is becoming a popular sport, and in 2007 a joggler finished a Toronto marathon in two hours and 50 minutes—while juggling three balls.

So I have Rene here again as my demo partner. First basic combinations I like to throw are always, you know, punch combinations. You've got jab, you've got cross, but again you always have to be ready off of that cross to sprawl especially when you come in for a take down. So again, I like to use, or set up with, the hands especially if I'm going to be setting up for kicks. So maybe I'd like to jab, cross and then an inside leg kick. Okay? Obviously you've got the jab, cross and then you have the outside leg kick. Those are basic combinations. If I throw a jab, cross and I fire that knee, I have to be ready to sprawl because you're going to be coming in for that take down. Alright? So again, basic combinations. Jab, cross, inside leg kick. Jab, cross, outside leg kick. Or, the jab, cross, follow up with the knee. But remember, be ready to sprawl. It's an MMA fight. He's going to come in for that take down. Alright? Rene: Now, the basic combinations, it depends what you want. If you just want to stay and stand up striking that's great, but some of you want to come in to shoot. So some good combination shoot is double-jab. For a single if you're southpaw, double-jab here, stepping in on your jab. Step in on your jab. And you hit the double. Okay? Another one could be a front hand technique. Switch your feet please. Alright? Could be jab, hook, shoot. So you want to punch off your front hand to cover the distance for your shots.

We are very emotional creatures and when we're attracted to somebody, it's very, very difficult to hide. People think they're hiding it, but things always slip. One of the ways they slip are essentially the eyes. There are a lot of different ways you can use the eyes to determine whether or not someone's attracted to you. The first thing is essentially eye contact. For the most part, usually we make eye contact with people that we're interested in or people that we're attracted to. Right? But this is not entirely true. Some people are shy or anxious and they're not going to make eye contact. So what you're looking for essentially is a deviation in eye contact. So one of the ways you can use eye contact and there's a little trick that's very, very reliable. So what you're going to do is if you look at somebody in a bar or restaurant or on the street and they break eye contact vertically, so they look down. So you make eye contact with them and they break eye contact vertically and then within 20-30 seconds they reestablish eye contact, approach them. They like you. It's a very, very reliable thing. Essentially what they're doing. You stare at them. They're submitting to you and then they take a little second glance to see who you are. It's very, very, very reliable. The opposite of that would be if you look at somebody and they look at you and they immediately go and break eye contact. Nope, not interested. But what is reliable is they break eye contact and they come back. Break eye contact and then come back. Break eye contact and then come back. It's very interesting. And don't let it wait. If you see that, go right away because the more and more you wait. The more and more eye contact becomes very, very awkward. One of the things that I do in one of my classes is I have people stare each other in the eyes for three minutes without saying anything. They just stare each other in the eyes like this. Try that. Go out and try to stare somebody in the eyes for even 90 seconds. I guarantee you can't do it. It's awkward. It's so awkward because humans are not really at a level intimacy. When you stare somebody in the eyes is so awkward when you're doing it with a stranger. Studies will show that if you stare somebody in the eyes for 90 seconds to three minutes, all of a sudden you're going to like that person a lot better than everybody else in the room because you kind of shared this emotional connection. So eye contact is important in that respect. The second thing you can look for essentially is blink rate. Now, this is really cool. So blink rate correlate with emotional excitement. When we are emotionally excited, our blink rates tend to increase. Right? Average blink rates tend to be below 20 blinks per minute. For most people it really depends on where you are, but it's really hard to nail down what the average blink rate is. But in my experience, it seems to be around 10 blinks per minute. Right? So you see, whenever you see a sudden spike or a bunch of sudden spikes in somebody's blink rate in can be an indication of attraction. In my dating studies you see blink rates through the roof because the person across the table from you has an emotional response. You're attracted to them. The third way of kind of using the eyes to determine attraction is dilation. It's very interesting. Our eyes dilate when we're attracted to something. Right? Go out and find a Maxim magazine or a Playboy magazine or any cover that's predominately men focusing. Every single woman will have her eyes dilated. You never, ever see them constricted. The reason why is because men perceive women with dilated eyes more attractive than women with more constricted eyes. To the point of back in the day prostitutes used to put a specific toxin in their eyes to make them dilate.

Warning Never practice the Heimlich maneuver on an infant under a year old or on a person who is not choking. You could cause serious injury. Step 1: Confirm choking Confirm the victim is choking. If they are coughing, they are not choking – yet – so encourage them to continue. Signs of choking include the universal hand sign of clutching one's hands to the throat; the inability to cough or speak; labored or noisy breathing; bluish skin, lips, and nails; and loss of consciousness. Tip Don't slap a coughing person on the back – it doesn't help and can make them start to choke. Step 2: Call 911 Once you determine the person is choking, act quickly but calmly. First, send someone to call 911. Step 3: Help the victim stand Help the victim stand, if they're not already on their feet, and stand behind them with your chest to their back. Step 4: Wrap your arms around the victim Wrap your arms around the victim's torso, making a fist with your dominant hand, and center it against the victim's upper abdomen, thumb inward, above the navel and below the rib cage. With your other hand, cover your fist for support. Tip If you cannot reach your arms around their abdomen or if the victim is pregnant, compress their chest between the breasts at the breastbone. Make firm, backward thrusts. Step 5: Thrust inward and upward Quickly thrust inward and slightly upward with your fist, as if you're trying to lift the victim off their feet, causing air to rush out of their lungs. Tip Don't squeeze the rib cage as you thrust upward. Otherwise you could break a bone. Step 6: Repeat Repeat the thrusts until the object dislodges, or the victim loses consciousness. Step 7: Wait for medical help If the object does not come free and the victim loses consciousness, proceed with CPR until EMTs arrive. Step 8: Save yourself To perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself, lean your upper abdomen over a hard horizontal surface (such as a railing or the back of a chair) and use it to deliver strong, upward thrusts. Did You Know? Besides inventing the famous abdominal maneuver, Dr. Henry Heimlich also invented a chest valve that saved thousands of wounded soldiers in Vietnam.

A few, this one is called a Jersey Wally, this one is a Rex the grey one, this one is a Flemish Giant, this one is a New Zealand White and we have here a little buddy called a Lion Head and next to him is a Netherlands Dwarf. We actually DE-emphasize breeds when people are adopting bunnies we always tell them no matter how beautiful the rabbit, no matter how much you love the breed, the thing to pay attention to really is the personality. And I told Amy once that is kind of like when you are dating a guy that is just really gorgeous and you find out that the personality isn't there, you don't care about the looks after a while it is very, very interesting. I had somebody come into my apartment one time to adopt only a Lap rabbit. The Lap rabbits are the ones that have the down ears. We don't have a Lap rabbit here but they have the ears that go down like a Cocker Spaniels and this lady came in and she said she only wanted consider a Lap and I had a couple of Laps and she loved one of them and started righting the adoption papers to take him home. But every time she went by this other rabbits cage the rabbit would stick his head out and look at her and try to make eye contact with her and after a couple of minutes she said you know Mary I think this rabbits trying to tell me something . So I said I think he is too , why don't you put down the Lap ear rabbit and go over and talk to that rabbit. And long story short she did and ended up adopting that second rabbit and the rabbit was definitely reaching out to her. It wasn't a breed she was interested in but the personality was so out going and so affectionate and she just loved him to pieces. So, we always tell people look at the different breeds for sure, we get all breeds into shelters all the time but go by the personality. It is much more Speaker 2: But normally you wouldn't put a bunch of rabbits together like this because they always don't get along, right? Speaker 1: Thanks for saying that, this is a challenge to have all these rabbits together on the same table . We have male, male, next to each other female, female next to each other that's not an easy thing to do in the rabbit world. Were really careful about putting rabbits together and we're just doing this to give an idea of different breeds. We want to make sure that we stay safe here. Speaker 2: Wow. First, you're going to want a plane and a bus ticket. You're going to want several copies of your orders. You're also going to want form 1199, which is your direct deposit form. You're also going to want meal tickets and MEPS, which is your military entrance processing station; all those documents. You're going to want a copy of your birth certificate - not the original. You're also going to want 6 pair of underwear, white only, no crazy colors. You're going to want comfortable running shoes. Two locks, make sure they're combination - no padlocks, you're not going to want to carry keys around with you. Eyeglass band, but only if you wear eyeglasses of course. You're also going to want to pack 6 pair of calf-length white socks. A black marker, Sharpie medium point works best. Toiletries and a small black bag to hold all your toiletries in. Toothbrush with a case. Shaving cream. Disposable razors - not your electric razors, you can't use electric razors at basic training. Two washcloths and a towel. Don't forget that deodorant, please don't forget that deodorant. Shower shoes, all black again, no colors and no logos on those shower shoes. Shampoo and conditioner - one bottle to save space. Soap with case, please don't forget that soap. For women, you're going to want your undergarments; cotton panties and bras. And don't forget, one full slip in case you're ever in a military suit, which you will be. Flesh-tone nylon pantyhose. And quarter inch or less in diameter earrings - they can be gold, silver, pearl, or spherical diamond; which can also be worn with what they call your Class A military suit. Let's go over some miscellaneous items as well. You're going to want a long-distance calling card to call home, because you won't have access to a cell phone most likely. Small box of laundry detergent in a zip lock bag. Stamps, which will be your best friend at basic training, they're like currency. Insect repellent. Cough drops. Small notebook to take notes of course - when your drill sergeant yells at you, you want to write that down so you don't make the same mistake again. And that's pretty much your entire list. I wouldn't recommend bringing anything else because it's probably going to get confiscated for contraband.

Step 6: Open the door When the water reaches your chin, take a deep breath and hold it. Then open the door and swim out headfirst.  The Cosmopolitan is the only classic cocktail that was invented in the last 20 years, but it has suffered a little bit of a negative connotation lately, and I think that's due to a certain HBO show about four women going to brunch. But I'm going to go out on limb and defend the Cosmopolitan, because I think it is a great cocktail, and I have to give it serious props because without the Cosmopolitan getting so popular, who knows if cocktail culture would have reemerged the way it has in the first place. So we have to pay our respects to the Cosmopolitan. And the good news is when it's made properly with fresh ingredients it's actually a really delicious cocktail. So we're going to start with two ounces of lemon vodka or citrus vodka, and a little orange liquer, Quantro is a great option for that, three-quarters of an ounce. You'll see a lot of versions of this recipe. This is the one I like to do, I'm kind of do a mixture of all of them. I also like to add a little bit of simple syrup, because I think that Quantro comes on a little too strong, so just a quarter ounce of simple syrup, and about three-quarters of an ounce of fresh-squeezed lime juice. This is another one of those drinks is that if you get the mix or anything like that it's all downhill from there. It's got to be fresh ingredients if it's going to taste good, and you want your drinks to taste good, right? I mean why else are you making them? And the key ingredient, of course, is the cranberry juice to give it that nice trademark pink color, three-quarters of an ounce of cranberry juice. Notice this is the real cranberry juice, not the processed kind that you usually see. This is a shaken drink, since we've got some citrus in there, a little more ice. Okay, now we've got our ice in there, and I'm going to grab the frozen coupe glass in the freezer. Okay, time to shake. Oh yeah, it's definitely pink. I mean that is a Cosmopolitan right there. I'm going to garnish it with a lime wheel, a nice, thin slice of lime to top it off. Cheers, girls. That's how you make a classic Cosmopolitan.

There's not many of them, right? Almost all, like 80 percent, of the opportunities to play college football are not at the D1 level. There's about 120, right, D1 schools. Over 800 total. So understand, that you first of all, have to know, can you play at that level? Do I have the measurables? Am I fast enough, quick enough, explosive enough? You know, those camp combine numbers that you get? That's important to college coaches. Can you run? Are you tall enough to play the position? You know, it's hard for a D1 coach to take a 5'10" quarterback or a 5'11" quarterback. It's been done, but it's rare, okay? You have to be a rare athlete to do that. Understand what it takes to be a division one player and then pursue the opportunity. Get your information online, get a great video together, and get it to the college coaches, not this program, not to the office, not the football office. To the coach that recruits your area, right? Division one coaches recruits by area. Or, if it's out of the area, by their position, or there's going to be a recruiting coordinator, right? Or a recruiting assistant. Know who you're sending that information to once you know that you can play. Get on their radar and start early, guys. Start in eight grade, ninth grade. Get your information to that D1 college coach so they can track you. You know, as a D1 coach, we wanted to be first to send you a questionnaire, we wanted to be first to offer you, to send you a hand written note, to give you a phone call. D1 coaches are working hard to be the first at everything for you or with you in the recruiting process. Get your information in early, be one of those guys that they're rushing to be first to call, write, and offer.

Good knee bend right here. His right foot is slightly in front of his left for balance. Swoop: OK. A: Eyes should be on the front of the rim, get that ball right over the front of the rim. Keep your elbow in, your right elbow here, in this case, 'cause he's right-handed. And you want to get good follow through on the shot. So he's gonna show us a couple repetitions on great technique. Repetition and muscle memory. Here we go. There's DP. Follow through. Bam. Follow through every time. Swoop: Not bad, not bad. A: There you go. There he is. Notice the follow through, notice the balance. Every time. Shot's the same every time. And then he just gets shots up there. Every shot, you want it to look the same. I'm with Chess NYC, and I'm going to talk to you today about pawn structures. While there are multiple pawn structures that are very important to know, there are five basics that are "need-to-know". So, let's start off with the pawn chain. To begin, we have what's called a pawn chain: we have a diagonal set of pawns; each pawn in this pawn chain is protecting one another. This is extremely important in terms of creating an attack. You always want to have your pawn chain directed towards the king. If the king is castled over on this side of the board, this is where you want your pawn structure going, instead of having your pawn chain running off the side of the board. Not so happy. Additionally, the top pawn is the strongest pawn in the pawn chain, the bottom is the weakest. If you're playing on black, you want to attack the bottom of the pawn chain. The idea behind the pawn chain is that it controls a lot of space and it's going toward the king, creating an attack. Another important pawn structure that is a need-to-know is called "double pawns". Double pawns have both good and bad elements to them. One element that is very good about double pawns is they control a lot of space. Double pawns can control up to five squares - one, two, three, four, five. In chess, we want to control space. Double pawns can control a lot of space. However, there is a weakness to double pawns. This pawn right back here is not protected by any other pawns, therefore this pawn is considered weak. Additionally, this pawn is also considered "stuck in traffic," meaning it can't move unless the pawn in front of it moves first. Another important pawn structure that we need to know is called the "isolated pawn", or "lonely pawn". This is not a favorable pawn structure. This pawn is sitting all by itself. When we have a pawn that's like this sometimes we have to have a queen or another, bigger piece defending and babysitting this pawn. I don't want my queen babysitting an isolated pawn. I want my pieces going ahead and making checkmate, and not defending an isolated pawn. This pawn is considered a weakness, and it is easy for black to attack. An even more unfavorable pawn position is "double isolated pawns". Additionally, these two pawns are extremely weak. Neither one of them can protect one another. This pawn is also considered stuck in traffic. It cannot move forward unless the pawn in front of it moves forward, and these are relatively hard to defend. A bishop cannot defend both of these pawns at the same time. A knight can also not defend both of these pawns at the same time. It's also hard, unless a rook is in between them, to defend them at the same time. We have to use a queen or a king to defend the two pawns at the same time. However, the last pawn structure I want to talk about is called a "passed pawn". Passed pawn is one of the most important pawn structures that we need to know, because this pawn is on its way to becoming a queen. A passed pawn is a pawn that has passed all of your enemy's pawns and is on its way to becoming a queen - by getting to the end of the board - or any other piece that you choose. When you have passed pawn, it is very important to sit and babysit this pawn. So therefore you can get it to the end of the board and it can become a queen or any other piece that you choose. And that is all I have to tell you about important pawn structures.

Step 1: Plan ahead Plan ahead. Know the location of local shelters and how you'll evacuate if you don't have a car. If you have family members with special medical needs, ask local officials if there's a registry so they get help in the event of power outages. Pick a place for family members to meet in case you become separated, and designate an out-of-town friend as the person everyone calls to report that they're safe. Get flood insurance if you don't already have it. Tip Make sure you know how to shut off electricity, gas, and water in case you're instructed to do so. Step 2: Be prepared Have the following supplies on hand at the start of hurricane season: a 3-day supply of water that provides 1 gallon per person per day; a 3-day supply of non-perishable food that doesn't require cooking; a flashlight and extra batteries; a battery-powered radio that can receive broadcasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; a first-aid kit; and a 7-day supply of medications. Tip The Atlantic and Central Pacific hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30; the Eastern Pacific is from May 15 through November. Step 3: Get ready If a hurricane warning is issued -- meaning one is expected in the next 36 hours -- bring in anything that can be tossed around by the wind; close and board up all windows and doors with 5/8" marine plywood, unless you have hurricane shutters; clear rain gutters and downspouts; trim trees and shrubs; put your refrigerator and freezer on the coldest setting; and fill your car's gas tank in case you're ordered to evacuate. Step 4: Go to a safe place If you live on the first or 2nd floor of a high rise, make plans to take refuge with neighbors between floors 3 and 10 when the storm begins. Residents who live above the 10th floor should evacuate, as should mobile home dwellers and anyone living on a floodplain, near a river, or on an inland waterway. Step 5: Do last-minute preparations Shortly before the storm is expected to start, fill your bathtub with water so you have an extra supply on hand. Unplug small appliances and sensitive electronics, and turn off propane tanks. Step 6: Ride out the storm When the storm starts, stay away from windows and glass doors and avoid using the phone. Go to your home's lowest level and stay in an interior room, closet, or hallway. Have a mattress or pillow to protect your head. Monitor weather conditions on your radio and don't leave your safe place until local officials say it's okay to do so. Step 7: Avoid post-storm dangers If you lose electricity, keep circuit breakers turned off until power is restored, then check for frayed wires. If you see any, call the power company. Leave the house immediately if you smell gas. If you're returning home, don't enter your house if floodwaters remain around the building; you see loose power lines or structural damage; or you smell a gas leak. If you have any safety concerns at all, stay elsewhere until your home is checked by a building inspector or structural engineer. Did You Know? 2/3 of the hurricanes that hit land in the United States between 1981 and 2011 struck the Gulf Coast. The other third hit the Atlantic Coast.

Edwin: Now for the next break, this one is a tap in the back. We're going to use the toe to either tap across or behind. So what's happening here is we're going to take three steps one, two and three. On the fourth step we're going to quickly alternate our feet, right/left, and then continue to the right for five, six, seven. And do the same thing on the other side, left/right. You're in front of five hundred, or a thousand, or three thousand people. How do you do it? Here's the secret: it's no different than speaking to one person. Now, I understand it feels different. It feels scary. But here's the secret great speakers have. It doesn't matter if you love Ronald Reagan as a speaker, or Bill Clinton, or Tony Blair. All different speakers, different styles, different politics, but here's one thing they have in common. When they're speaking or were speaking to ten thousand people, or speaking to two people, they sounded exactly the same. So, here's the big secret when it comes to talking to large audiences: don't change yourself. Because most of us, when we're speaking to one friend or two buddies at lunch, we're animated. We're engaging, we're telling stories, and we're giving examples. Our hands are moving. Our face is moving. We get in front of a large audience, and all the things we do that worked for us, all the things that were interesting that made us easy to listen to, we take that, we ball it up, and we throw it in the trash can. And we put on this fake persona, my fellow delegates it's an honor to be here today. We become stiff and we become wooden. Our voice goes flat. We tense up. We grab a lectern. All these things we do because we're scared. The problem is, as much as I love crutches, these crutches don't prop us up. They bring us down. They make us worse. So, you've got to simply tell yourself you're talking to one person. You've got to use that tone of voice. Because these days if you're speaking to a large room of people chances are you're going to have a microphone, so you don't have to speak like this because that's really annoying. You speak in a conversational tone of voice. Here's the other trick: your eye contact. What a lot of people do is they're like this the whole time. They may be moving, but they have this glazed look in their eye. You don't want to do that. Or, they just zoom in here, zoom in here, and here. It's too mechanical. What you want to do is just look at one spot. Ideally, if you can see people, look at one person for a full thought. That's only five seconds or so. Go to another person in a different part of the audience. Pretend you're having a one on one conversation with that person for a full thought. And mix it up. That will make it more relaxing for you. You'll sound like you're talking to one person. And it'll keep your head from bouncing around and looking nervous and scared. The other final tip is, it's one of those things, the more you do it the easier it gets. Seek out opportunities to speak in front of large groups. Don't be one of these people that says, well I could speak to one person, or I can speak to two people, or I can speak sitting in a boardroom, but I'm not a public speaker so I can't. Baloney. If you've ever had one interesting conversation with one person in your entire life you already have all the skills you need to be a great public speaker in front of ten thousand people.

So we're going to go for a very stereotypical, general Brooklyn accent. Just to give you a flavor of it. So you put your lip corners really far forward. And it's a very urban sound. You see? In my oral posture that my lips are doing a lot of the work. It's also fun to notice that the Brooklyn accent, where your lip corner's very far forward, is also very similar to that urban London sound. That cockney sound. So Saul's daughter studied law. You'll notice that it's a very similar shape in the mouth. Let's look at some sound changes for the Brooklyn accent. So there are no r's at the ends of some words. So like, there, player, flatter become theah, playah, flattah. And the ah sound in thought, dog, and law become a diphthong. So they become a two element sound. For thought, dog, law. Sometimes that th sound, thin, thick, this, that become very dentalized. So it's thin, thick, this, that. So you hear those hard, flat sounds. The back of the teeth. Thin. Thick. This. That. You start to hear the musicality of the accent. T's are very dentalized. So they're very pushed up against the teeth. So Tony takes his time becomes Tony takes his time. Do you hear the difference there? Tony takes his time, and Tony takes his time. The st sound in stretch becomes stretch. I love that one. So what's the musicality of this general Brooklyn accent? Well it's a very urban sound, like we'd said. It's got a lot of power to it. You use emphasis with volume, and less with pitch variety. But don't take my word for. Go listen to some native Brooklyn speakers, and let the accent reveal itself to you.

The hair bow is such a cute little trick. It kind of ebbs and flows. It always seems to come back. I'm going to show you how to do a hair bow that is high and kind of glamorous. Keep in mind too that you can do smaller versions of this anywhere on your head. You could do a low hair bow. You could do a hair bow on top of a ponytail. There are many variations of this. I'm just going to show you the most simple and the most classic. I'm going to start by hair spraying her hair away from her face. And then I'm just going to do a classic ponytail. And then a great trick at home if you're trying to get, if whenever you do a ponytail you always have a little of bagginess here in the nape of your neck, would be to tilt your head backwards and do that finishing step. It keeps it really nice and tight. So you're going to wrap the ponytail around. And on whatever is going to be your last rotation, so this is the third round I'm making with the ponytail, I am going to make a loop with my hair. So I'm just not going to pull the hair all the way up. And then I'm just going to place the rest of the hair in the front. So this is going to be the start of our hair bow. So I'm just going to loosen it up a little bit more. And I'm going to start to fan out the hair. Then, in the center, I start to make a little part in the hair. You can see we're already getting a little bit of a hair bow already. Then I'm going to take this center hair here. Comb it a little bit. I'm going to gather the ends up into a little point. And then I'm going to put it in between our two little puffs that we just made. And I'm going to bobby pin it in the back. Turn her around so you can see that. So I'm just going to bobby pin it. And don't worry about the bobby pins just yet because I'm going to cover them. And I'm going to flip her around. We're going to finesse our bow here. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take and attach the bow to the head first. I'm going to take little bobby pins and I'm just going to attach the bottom of the hair to the head. And you can do this in a couple of places if you want. Whatever makes it feel secure. And then from there I'm going to start to lift my bow up. I'm going to hold it a little bit with my hand. Spray it with a heavier hold hairspray. A little bit around the face with that. And then, like I promised, I'm going to hide those bobby pins in the back. So in this case now that it's all done, I really just have to tuck it up into one side of the bow and it's completely concealed from the back. I'm going to add just one more bobby pin. I'm just holding the back of my bow forward because I can see a little gap here in between the center of the bow and the rest of it. And there you have your completed hair bow.

And handling the ball with speed is good because it makes it more difficult for the defender to steal the ball from you. So right now we'll walk through a couple of quick drills that we use on a regular basis that help us to handle the ball faster. First ting we want to do is work on a particular drill and then you want to try to go for speed in it. Right now we have one of our coaches, Jerry, who's gonna time us on these particular drills. Right now Sammy will go for 15 seconds and what'll we'll do right now is he's gonna do his first set for 15 seconds and then we'll have him do a second set to see if he can increase his speed as far ball handling. So right now, Sammy will get nice and low. He's gonna cross over and go behind his back. Every time the ball gets to his right hand, he's gonna count the rep. So I'll count for him right now. Jerry when you tell me to go, we'll go. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Alright. So Sammy did eight in 15 seconds. So now he has a goal where every time he works out he has a point of emphasis in the base as far as trying to exceed his time. Now I'll try to do something a little bit more advanced with the advanced ball handlers. And remember, everything that we do I'm gonna try to do with my eyes closed and head up. Jerry'll give me 30 seconds on this. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, I lose it, I come right back. Eyes closed, chin up. Six. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright? So I got to about six and a half. So right now we'll have Sammy finish up to see if he can do it any faster than he did his first set. So again Sammy will have his eyes closed, chin up. He'll get low. Eight is his number to beat. 15 seconds. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright. So you see? Now, Sammy worked on his ball handling. He was able to get ten. Those are the types of drills that you can do on a regular basis in order to be come a faster ball handler.

Ben: This is actually, this is probably one of the most impressive effects you can do with not all that much complicated slight. First thing you have to do is you actually have get the card to the bottom of the deck. If you'll remember when Ann drew a card, I actually just had her place it right back on top. Show it to the camera real quick, four of spades. Now, using the overhand shuffle control, I'm actually able to guarantee that the four of spades will end up right back on the bottom of the deck. Once it's on the bottom of the deck, you're pretty much good to go. You ask them to hold their fingers. You ask them basically to take the deck from you the same way that you're holding it. That's a good way to get them to take it in the same position without kind of, you know, readjusting their fingers. So do me a favor, just take it just like I'm holding it. Perfect. Now, believe it or not, just a confident smack onto the deck will pretty much knock all the cards out of her hand except for the last one. Ann, I didn't tell you what was going to happen. You did not know that that was going to happen. That card just happened to be in your hand after the slap. That card and that card alone. Correct? By being timid with the smack, what's going to happen is you're actually not going to hit all the cards out. They're only going to slide about half of them down. And then she's going to be left with a third of the deck, or a half of the deck, or a fourth of the deck, whatever, and you're going to have to keep smacking. So basically what's happening with the smack here is, as I'm smacking down on the deck, you really want to make sure you're getting a really good downward motion because that's going to cause all the cards to slide, literally, off of the bottom one. And Ann, she's already told us she did not know to prepare for this. She was not trying to hold on to that card. She didn't even know I was going to slap them. But the slap really does work. And it's a great effect. It's very impressive to the spectator when they're left with their card staring them in the face.

Step 2: Bring a headshot Bring a professional headshot that looks like you in daily life, as opposed to a glammed-up version. Directors and producers don't like it when actors look nothing like their photo. Step 3: Don't go in costume Wear clothes that suggest you have an understanding of the show so the director can envision you in the part. But don't show up in full costume. Tip If it's exclusively a dance audition, just wear your dance clothes. Step 4: Pick the right song If you're auditioning for a musical, pick audition songs that reflect the period or genre of the show – not the show itself. You can prepare a few from the actual show, but only sing them if you're asked to. Sing just 32 bars of a song unless otherwise specified. Tip Have your sheet music organized for the pianist: Mark where the music should start and end, and put it in the right key. Step 5: Rehearse your scene If you're auditioning for a drama, rehearse the "sides" – a few pages from the script that you are provided with in advance of the audition. Bring the pages to the auditioning venue; it's common to hold them while you perform. Step 6: Jump right in At the audition, greet the people judging you and then begin your performance; don't ask them for direction. If you make a mistake, keep going, or ask if you may start again. No one is looking for or expecting perfection. Step 7: Go with the flow If the director asks you to try something different, do it without argument, no matter how terrified or ill-equipped you feel. They are checking to see how well you take direction and how easily you go with the flow. Step 8: Act confident Exude confidence, or at least fake it. After all, you're an actor! Did You Know? Step 3: Amass weapons Find a weapon to use in case you encounter a zombie. Grab a blunt object capable of bashing in undead heads or something to pierce the zombies' skulls -- even reanimated corpses can't survive severe brain injuries. Tip Don't try to reason with zombies -- their brain functions are limited to walking, moaning, and feasting on the living. Step 4: Head indoors Find a secure place to hide. Make sure it's located as far as possible from any graveyards and stocked with canned goods, bottled water, and projectile-firing weapons. Barricade the doors and windows to ensure your survival. Step 5: Fight back Hide out long enough to overcome your fear; then, attack back! And a lot of people have trouble doing this at home and they end up making it into a two person job. I've seen this in a clinic, sometimes in a clinic they have two people doing it. It's actually less stressful for the rabbit if you can just do it yourself as you do at home as I do at home. Fewer people around the rabbit, less commotion. It's just much easier. You make it a one person job. Now this bunny has not had her nails cut before. And she's a rex rabbit. Her nails a little bit different then they are in a non rex rabbit. What's different? We'll take a look. Okay. Let's watch. Their nails tend to be a little bit curlier in rexes in my experience. Okay. And the vessel may be a little bit. These are pretty easy to see. This rabbit has both dark nails and light nails and it doesn't make any difference what color the nails are when you use this technique because what you're going to do with this technique is you're going to use the rabbit's own feedback to let you know when you're too close to the blood vessel. Instead of depending on your eyesight to see where the blood vessel which you may or may not be able to do. You're going to squeeze on the nail a little bit. First of all you need scissors. Like little clippers like this right? Are these for cats or something? I think they're considered bird nail clippers but I've seen them called kitty clippers too, sometimes they have a long spike down one of the handles. I don't like that, but I put the rabbit on a towel. I want her on a towel because I want her to feel good traction which she probably feels from these little rugs too and then I press her against myself and restraint is probably the most important part of doing a nail cutting. If a rabbit is carefully and gently restrained and not over restrained, you'll get much better results and I think you've seen this at home with Dusty too. Amy's rabbit hates to be restrained. She just really doesn't like this. So the less restraint you can use, the better off you are so what I do is I put the bunny against my body and I use this part of my arm, my rolled up sleeve to press against her hind quarters like this and I pick up just one paw and then I put the clippers around the paw, just the very tip. Don't try to go down too much. And I go press, press clip. And then I'm going to put it around this nail. Press, press clip. Why am I going press, press? Because I'm giving the bunny an opportunity to react to the pressure and the position of the scissors. If I'm too close to the vessel the bunny will suddenly pull back her paw and sometimes they'll shake the paw to show you that you've sinned. And that's the same as what they call a quick. Right? Yea. The vessel is the quick. And the bunny will pull her paw back if you're too close to it and that gives you an opportunity to reposition your scissors because what you've done by doing press press first you've made a little white line on the nail. And if the bunny is disturbed that you're too close to the quick. She'll shake her paw to get rid of you and then she'll quiet down again and you can pick up the paw and cut on the other side of the white nail. And it won't bother her at all. So we've done a couple of nails on that paw and they're are four pointing forward nails on the front and then a dill claw, a fifth one which is up on the side the equivalent of our thumb and that is always hard to see. So you just do your best. She's being so good this bunny. Press, Press Clip. Great. Thank you very much. Look at you! That was great. That was that paw. The next paw, you're going to stand the bunny on her hind legs supporting her chest and letting the paw hang down like this. You should be able to put your chin on her head and kiss her head. Aw. And people want to talk about the various positions you can have, you can choose when you play the game of soccer. And we're basically have the goal keeper. We have the defenders, we have the midfielders and we have the strikers. The goal keeper of course is the first responsibility is to assure that the strikers won't get the ball behind the goal line and actually score. On the second thought the goal keeper would be the first player to initiate the game, to start the game from the back of the defense. The next line is the line of defenders. Again, even more, the responsibility of the defenders would be to mark up the strikers, close gap some defense and prevent the opposition from goal scoring. The next line would be the midfielders. The midfielders are the once who organize the game. They have defense responsibilities but also offense responsibilities. And they organize the game, they make sure that they close the gap in defense, turn around quickly, open the game to the front to the strikers, get the strikers in goal scoring positions and move up themselves or maybe even choose to finish themselves and try to score. The last one, the most front on the field would be the strikers or the forwards. Of course the idea is to get the ball as quickly as possible into the goal, into the net of the opposition. As a defender you have the whole game in front of you. You have more time usually to open the game. You have more time when you have possession of the ball. You want to open it mindfully to the side not to the center. The midfielders are always moving, always trying to open up, giving opportunities, passing options as well to strikers and defenders. The strikers on the other hand usually have the defender in the back where there's a different kind of play. The want to drop the ball maybe to the midfielder to open up the game on the side but then quickly move into goal scoring position themselves and finish. That's the basic idea of soccer positions and I think it's a good way to start.

Well, they're wrong. If you know what motivates your cat, you can train it. Now, training with Fria today is going to be a little difficult because she's pretty snooty, but I'm just going to see if she has a reaction to her favorite treat bag. That can be a great place to start for coming when called. Many cats know the sound of their treat bag and get excited right off the bat when they hear it. So, let's just see if she wakes up. Oh, suddenly we're interested. Well, it's not an ideal time to practice coming when called. It is a good time to reinforce the association that hearing the treat bag means good things. Now, many cat owners already know about the treat bag effect, but what they don't know is that it's really easy to capitalize on it to teach your cat to come when called. The way to do that is to pair your cat's name with a treat. The great news is since your cat knows the sound of a treat bag or a treat canister, you can build on an already strong association. So, in this case, you might say your cat's name and then give them a treat. So, I'll go like this. Fria and then I crinkle the bag which means a treat is coming and then I give her one. Now first, when you're starting this you want to start right by your cat because they don't really know what you're trying to do. Start at a place where cat and you are most likely to be successful. So, rinse and repeat. Fria, crinkle, crinkle and then give a treat. Now, when you're ready to start working on coming when called you can begin working from a distance. I'm not going to do this with Fria today because she might walk right off the table if she happened to get up, but what you would do is the same type of behavior. Say the cat's name, crinkle the bag and as soon as they come over give a treat. Eventually, the name that you give your cat for this exercise will become as powerful as the treat bag and you'll see that when you give the sound of your cat's name that your cat comes running for that treat. Over time you can stop using food and use scratches or other positive attention that your cat enjoys as a reinforcer. Just remember that it's not normal for cats to come when called in the wild, so it's definitely a behavior that's worth paying for. That's how you teach your cat to come when called.

Mary: It's probably too late. Your rabbit is 12 years old. Can rabbits be litter box trained? Yes. You don't even have to train them. They're immaculately clean animals by nature, and all you really have to do is help them find the litter box. With cats, for example, you can fill the box with appropriate litter material and put the litter box down and the cat will find it. With rabbits it's a little bit different. Rabbits have their own preferred corners for eliminating. And you have to find where the rabbit would enjoy eliminating and put the litter box there. The best way to attract a rabbit into a litter box is to have litter material on hand that rabbits love, such as, will you do the honors? Amy: Hay. I mix hay. I use different hays because I spoil my rabbit. Sometimes I top a little of that hay on top, which I know, you don't want to use just all oat hay or alfalfa hay, but I add a little bit of treat hay sometimes. Mary: Now watch what's going to happen here. It's exactly what we want. If you fill a litter box with hay. We have a layer or two of newspaper on the bottom to line it, then we fill it up with hay, the rabbit will be attracted because the hay smells fresh and wonderful and the rabbit will sit in the litter box and pee and poop just the same way as a rabbit that's wild will sit in your backyard and pee and poop, and you won't have any litter box issues. The big problem with rabbits and litter boxes, is usually that people give the rabbit too much freedom too soon in the home, and what you really should do, when you're working with a new rabbit, is keep the rabbit in a pen or in a very generous size cage, with that litter box in one corner until the litter habits are really well established. Once you see the rabbit going regularly to pee and poop in the litter box, then you can open the cage and allow a little bit of territory. Maybe you want to add a few more litter boxes in corners of your house. But you don't want to give the rabbit a lot of freedom immediately because you will never be able to keep up, and once the rabbit urine marks different areas in your home, it's very hard to keep them from going back to the same area. Amy: And also they like to be under things so, like now, I have an awning, I had somebody make an awning for my rabbits, so the box is underneath something. So, underneath a table, or you can make a little house out of a cardboard box. They kind of like that kind of thing. Mary: And there's one other thing to know about litter box training too, and a lot of people ask this question. They say, "Well, my rabbit is urinating in the litter box perfectly, but I still find poops around the house. What's up with that?" And the thing about it is, rabbit poops are not just excretion, they're also territory markers. So you can expect that to happen, whether a rabbit litter box trained or not, you can expect a few stray poops left around. Amy: They're like peppercorns. Mary: They are. Like large peppercorns. Don't serve them to your guests on salads. But they are going to be around your house. Most people don't mind because they're dry and they're virtually odorless. You can pick them up and throw them out, but don't forget to wash your hands. Amy: But wash your hands. That's what I was going to say. Mary: So, yes, they can be litter trained. Amy: It's easy. They train you where to put the box and then they use it. That's the bottom line. Easy.

So we can just layer on later. So first thing we're going to start is a chair pose. Bend the knees. Reach your arms up and overhead. Bring your hands down to your thighs, and internally rotate the thigh muscles, the flesh, back and through the legs. Which will allow you to have a softer groin. So you can actually use the tailbone forward to get the belly in the play. Heart can lift up. Then you can reach up and overhead. So that's the elements of a chair pose. Next we're going to add eagle pose to that. So you reach your arms out to the side. Open up the chest. Exhale. Take your right arm underneath, wrap up the elbows, and then wrap up the wrist. If that's not happening, just hold onto your shoulders. If that's the second wrap not happening, hold onto your shoulders. Otherwise, when you bring your hands here, work your elbows down and your forearms away from your face. You'll feel a strong internal rotation of the shoulder. It should feel good. So here you're going to find a little chair pose in the legs. Internally rotating the thighs. Curling the tailbone forward. Put all the weight into your left foot. Come onto the tippy toes of the right foot. Squeeze the knee in towards the chest. The higher you get the knee in towards the chest, the easier it's going to be to wrap. And then once you're here you can use your toes onto the floor, or even onto a block. That's there. Or you can wrap a second time. So sit down, wrapping back, and then pretend that you have a thumb in this hip crease pulling this hip crease back. So you're there. Use the abdominals to pull this hip crease back. And then just sit down low. Another variation of this posture is to take a sleeping eagle. So you're going to bow over the legs, and come down. Maybe you'll touch the first knee, and maybe you can touch the second knee. To unwind this posture slowly with your gaze, walk yourself up. And then undo the arms. Undo the legs. Open up the hands. That's eagle.

Step 1: Get a partner While belly dancing and ballet can be done solo, ballroom dancing is always done in pairs. Ask a friend to help you out. Step 2: Perfect your posture Perfect your posture. Unlike casual dancing, a ballroom dancer doesn’t slouch or lean on their partner. Both the man and the woman must elongate their neck and body. Practice correct posture by standing straight against a wall. Step 3: Position the head Look over each other’s right shoulder. Now imagine you’re the most beautiful person on earth who has just met the other most beautiful person on earth. What’s that feel like? Exactly. Keep that expression throughout the dance. Step 4: Adjust your hand position Hold hands correctly. This means the man’s raised left hand holds the woman’s right hand, palms facing each other. The man’s right hand connects with the woman’s shoulder blade. His hand should be cupped, fingers together. The woman’s left hand should be on the man’s right shoulder, her fingers at the seam of his sleeve. Step 5: Position your body Having the perfect 'closed dance hold' means the woman is just slightly to the right of the man. This way the legs move between each other and the knees don’t hit. Tip When the couple is a man and a woman, the man generally takes the lead. In couples with just one sex, a decision will have to be made. Step 6: Draw a square on the floor Now that you have the basic positioning, learn the basic waltz box step, the most common step in ballroom dances like the rumba, waltz, or foxtrot. Start by taping out a small box on the floor. Step 7: Practice counting Practice counting one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. This will be the essential timing, and the sooner it feels natural, the better. Step 8: Make a box with your feet Practice alone making a box with your feet. To make the first half of the box, step forward with your left foot — which is 'one' — and slide your right foot to meet it and then step to the right (two). Your weight now shifts to the right foot so your left slides to meet it (three). Step 9: Finish the box Now finish the box. Step back with your right foot (one) and slide your left to meet it and then to the left (two). Your weight now shifts to the left foot so your right slides to meet it (three). Tip If you’re in the women’s role, you will step backward to start. Step 10: Practice counting to music Now put it together, doing the box step by yourself in time to your one-two-three counting. Step 11: Practice with a partner Now practice with a partner. Count off five, six, seven, eight before you begin so you’ll both be prepared to start together on one. Tip Dancing is a close contact sport. Make sure your breath is okay before you start. Use a breath freshener. Step 12: Move around the floor After you feel comfortable with the box step, forget confining yourself strictly to the box, and let yourself move more naturally around the floor. Step 13: Start to turn Once you’re able to loosen up while keeping time with the beat, try turning. Turn slightly to the right as you step on one and two; you’ll begin traveling in a circle as you keep your basic box pattern. Step 14: Remember to maintain posture Remember to maintain your posture at all times, keeping your connection points. Stand up straight, Quasimodo! Good ballroom dancers never slouch or disconnect. Step 15: Practice every chance you get Now that you know how to do a basic waltz box step, practice every chance you get. This is just the beginning. Get out there and dance, dance, dance! I'm going to talk to you today about the three principles to opening strategy. So when we get to the game we're always like, 'Uh, what do I do? There's so many pieces. I don't know how to start." Well I'm going to give you three steps that are going to help you create a strong, confident opening. First thing that we need to understand is these four center squares. These are considered a super square because this is where the center of the board is, the control center. For example, if I have my knight in the center of the board, my knight can control up to eight different squares, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. We can see that this is a very strong place for my knight. If I have my knight on the side of the board it can only control up to four squares, 1, 2, 3, 4. Therefore, my knight is stronger in the center whereas most pieces are stronger in the center of the board. So at the beginning of the game you want to think about center control. First thing we can try and do is get our pawns into the center. Very important to try to get our pawns to control the center. The next important step that we want to focus on is piece development. Now I like to think about my pieces as they are working for me. I want to give my pieces a job. If they're sitting back here they're not happy and they're not doing anything. So my next step is to bring my pieces out and have them working for me. Usually we bring out the knights before the bishops. So I can bring my knight to F-3 and my other knight to C-3 and then I'm bringing them towards the center. Notice how I did not bring my knight to H-3, that would not be a good choice. Towards the center. Next, I want to bring my bishops out, again towards the center controlling the center squares. The next step that we always want to consider is king safety, very important. I like to consider the king like a baby. The reason I consider the king a baby is because we always want to protect our babies just like we always want to protect our king. Therefore, the best way to protect your king at the beginning of the game is to castle. Now we have two places, two ways that we can castle. You can either castle on the king's side or on the queen's side. Right away I can see that I can castle on the king's side. To castle I move my king two spaces and then bring my rook to the other side and now my king is stuck behind a little fortress or, to keep with the theme of a baby, a crib and it is protected and safe. Just to review, the three important principles are controlling the center, piece development, and king safety. Those are the three things that we can do at the beginning of the game to go into the middle game confidently.
