Pattern Recognition: Hugo McCloud (Studio Visit)

05:03
Hugo McCloud discusses his process of utilizing unconventional tools and post consumer goods as a means to create art. - About the Exhibition Pattern Recognition presents the recent work of five emerging artists, Rushern Baker IV, Kimberly Becoat, Hugo McCloud, Duhirwe Rushemeza and Sam Vernon, whose practices are largely engaged in abstract painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. These artists use the freedom of abstraction to push aesthetic boundaries and to present concepts that range from the personal to the geo-political. There are several conceptual parallels amongst the exhibiting artists' processes, including the use of found materials and their multidisciplinary studio practices. The exhibition's central theme involves the examination of the natural human desire to find patterns or meaning in the data that surrounds us. Other themes include methods of interpreting history, consumerism, and the tension between art and commercialization. www.mocada.org

Hypebeast Pen & Paper with NYCHOS

04:49
SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL: http://hypb.st/PpLFal Drawing from his art, what goes on inside the racing mind of NYCHOS belies any serenity his peaceful exterior may convey. The Austrian artist specializes in painting and illustration, using highly colorful, often dissected figures as expressions of his imagination. NYCHOS points this motif to his family background in hunting, an early childhood experience that has since grown into one of the more graphic styles today. Hypebeast got the opportunity to sit down with the artist to discuss early influences, evolving away from working with acrylic to work with spray paint, and more. Robert Williams Mr Bitchin | Official Trailer | CLS

A prolific oil painter whose painstakingly detailed work often featured naked women, death, destruction, booze and clown, he didn't quite fit the fine art mold. In the early 1960s he was confronted with trendy abstraction and superficial pop art. Schooled in the Hot Rod Culture of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and Von Dutch, he emerged as a leader in the Underground Comic revolution along with R. Crumb, contributing regularly to Zap Comix. His antisocial paintings of an alternative reality were marginalized by the art world for decades although he became a hero of sorts for underground artists. His notoriety exploded when his painting Appetite for Destruction was used (and much vilified) as the cover for that 1987 Guns N' Roses' album. When he started Juxtapoz Magazine in 1994, his movement found him. Legions of artists looking for a place within the contemporary art world for their cartoonish realism identified with his "LowBrow" aesthetic. At the time, Williams predicted that "Low brow and alternative art are the crack in the dam and with this leak the art world will never be the same." By 2010 the art world could ignore him no longer and he was included in the prestigious Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. ROBERT WILLIAMS MR. BITCHIN documents this influential artist as he rises to the top of the art world, always an outsider. Robert Williams Mr. Bitchin is an irreverent, convention-defying tale of life and art as lived by a maverick in the contemporary art world. (Uncensored) David Choe Interview for myFinBec 2013 - Graffiti Art and Wine

15:53
Visit http://www.myfinbec.com to order these limited edition wine cases with original graffiti art by David Choe and six bottles of Cave Fin Bec organic wine. Video copyright ©2013 Chris Courtney / Rebild Productions All Rights Reserved myFINBEC 2013 The concept behind the myfinbec project is to bring the world of art / graffiti together with the art of wine making. In 2013, Los Angeles based artist David Choe came to Cave Fin Bec in Switzerland and painted eight murals that would be used as the artwork for eight wine labels. Each mural was painted on large wooden canvases constructed using a total of 672 wood wine crates. After the grape harvest in Autumn, each painting is dismantled and filled with six bottles of award winning organic wine in each case. These 672 cases are then sent all over the world for everyone to enjoy. The freedom of expression that he has is quite unlike most other painters that I know. Most of the stuff that he is painting comes right out of his head. So most people are using reference material to refer to, Dave is just drawing on that vast pit of imagination that's somewhere inside of his mind. So he has a very free and loose style. Which makes him a very interesting painter. Dave could paint a 200 foot mural out on the street, or sit for hours on end painting with a one hair paintbrush." - Steve Lazarides, Lazarides Art Gallery, London For more information about David Choe visit his Wikipedia Page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Choe THE 2013 myFINBEC WINES Cave Fin Bec's Domaine Châtroz Rouge is an organic red wine with ripe black currants and black pepper on the nose with nice hint of oak. This wine is a blend of cabernet franc, cabernet saugignon and merlot grapes and is a nicely structured wine. On the palate it is very jammy with a slight hint of clove. The Domaine Chatroz Blanc is an organic white wine with an intense floral nose with hints of fresh fruit and almond. On the palate it has a soft fine acidity with hints of fresh cut grass and candied fruits. ABOUT CAVE FIN BEC For over 2000 years, wine has been made in the Valais region of Switzerland. Grapes vines thrive in the pure mountain air, and are nourished by mineral rich streams coming from the Alps. Cave Fin Bec is one of the premiere wineries in the region, and one of the producers of organic wines. A "Fin Bec" is a term used to describe a connaisseur or gourmand, someone that truly appreciates good food, art and good wine. Cave Fin Bec seeks perfection in making wine and strives to please all those that share their passion. Deleted scene 3 - This is Berlin Not New York

21:15
Plot Outline:An inspiring look at New York underground artists making art and friends on the other side of the world. In 2007, ten New York-based artists traveled to Berlin for ten days with one purpose: to experience life artfully. They put on an exhibition in a local gallery, displayed artworks on the street, transformed an abandoned building into an original work of art, and connected with Berlin artists. In this film. Arturo Vega (artistic director for the Ramones), Ted Riederer (exhibited at PS 1 Contemporary Art Center), Ethan H. Minsker (founding member of the Antagonist Art Movement), Richard Allen, Brett Farkas, James Rubio, Un Lee, and Crispy T. Screenplay By:Ethan H. Minsker Directed By:Ethan H. Minsker Produced By:Antagonist Movement. "Original musical scores and animated artwork definitely enhance this provocative examination of western contemporary art and the ongoing tension between commercialism and creativity for its own sake." - Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine Get the download for $1.99 here amazon.com/This-Berlin-Not-New-York/dp/B0073XTX3C/ref=pd_sim_sbs_mov_1 Get the DVD here emphasisentertainment.com/This-Is-Berlin-Not-New-York.htm

California Dreamin -- Robert Williams Mr. Bitchin -- Clip 2

Williams on WIlliams -- Robert Williams Mr. Bitchin -- Clip 1

01:04
As acclaimed artist Robert Williams gets dressed for an event, he discusses how he feels his work does not allow him to be as pretentious or take himself as seriously as other renowned painters, such as Salvador Dali. **** Robert Williams was an artist in search of a movement. A prolific oil painter whose painstakingly detailed work often featured naked women, death, destruction, booze and clowns, he didn't quite fit the fine art mold. At the time, Williams predicted that, "Low brow and alternative art are the crack in the dam and with this leak the art world will never be the same." ROBERT WILLIAMS MR.
