Sharpening Knife on a Whetstone with Master Sushi Chef Hiro Terada.
Get Your Good Afternoon Merchandise Here: https://shop.studio71us.com/collections/hiroyuki-terada Master Sushi Chef Hiro Terada shows you how he sharpens his Kikuichi knife with a 1000 grit Masahiro whetstone, and then further polishes his knife with a Kikuichi 6000 grit wet stone. Key things to remember are: Soak the stone for at least 24 hours prior to sharpening; this assists the water lubrication to keep the knife from scratching against a harsh surface and damaging the blade. Always use equal pressure throughout the blade at a 15 degree angle. Always use the complete surface of the stone in order to keep the stone smooth and equally worn. Double Barrel Knife Launcher for the M16 Assault Rifle
Link to the Cold Steel Hide Out: http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/49NDE/Hide_Out.aspx The Slingshot Channel bought a veritable M16A1 rifle a while ago (it is deactivated of course, so it is legal to own in Germany). After we already presented a slingbow upper receiver for it, now you can see the first two shot knive launcher that mounts underneath the barrel of the rifle. Because of the similar attachment method oif the M203 grenade launcher, the weapon has been named "SSC203" (SlingShotChannel 203). The SSC M203 fires the brand new Cold Steel "Hide Out" neck knives, very lightweight, razor sharp knives that just came to market. Cold Steel was kind enough to send a few of them to The Slingshot Channel! We put them to good use for sure. The two knives can be shot individually, or both at the same time. See the impact into a foam mat, a wooden board and a water melon (what else?). A "The Slingshot Channel" production!

Plastic surfaces leaves less bacteria on the board then wood cutting boards. When the blade makes an indentation into the board, it leaves less of a groove in the Plastic Material. Fissler bionic Knives
Nature has the best ideas. The beaver is famous for logging trees with his bare teeth. He is able to do this, because his teeth never get blunt. They are made out of two materials, which scuff differently. The effect: an always-sharp bite edge. We got inspired by this, while designing our new knifes. A special, very hard coating makes the blade nearly as hard as a diamond. Steel and Coating behave like the two beaver tooth materials: The blade sharpens itself with every cut. http://www.fissler.de/index.php?id=7283

Viper Setter Knife
http://www.sharp-planet.eu/en/shopby/series_hunting_nav-viper_pointer_setter.html The content of Viper Setter video review: Hello! This is another video in this series of Viper knives. Viper is a company based in Maniago in Italy. Maniago is very famous city for knife making and Viper is one of the biggest companies there. This time I will be showing you a Viper Setter. It is a knife similarly designed to Viper Pointer but a little bit bigger. As you can see all Viper knives comes in a same packing. Now let's look at the knife. The knife comes with short manual in English and Italian; explanation about material used, maintenance and care, about the company, about the address for warranty claims and all other useful information and also about proper use and safety. Knife itself comes in a really nice sheath made of real brown leather. It has a Viper logo on it. It is possible to carry this sheath on a belt and has a one safety; classical safety like on many other sheaths. Now the knife. The knife is fixed blade one-piece construction. As you can see it is 25.0 cm long the blade itself is 13.0 cm long and the thickness is 3.8 mm. It has drop-point design, very massive blade; the height of the blade is quite big. It is really nicely designed. The material used for the blade is Bohler N690. This is stainless steel with high corrosion resistance; the steel is made in Austria in Company Bohler. The blade carries Maniago quality logo, which guaranties that this is a high quality product. The hardness of the blade is 57-59 HRC and it has drop-point design. The design is quite special, not found in many knives. It has a small cross-guard and the handle is really ergonomically designed for good grip and you can easily use this knife in any kind of situation. The wood used for the handle is cocobolo. It is really nice wood, highly resistant on water and other material with which this handle can come in contact. It also have two massive screws for the handle, it has a sling hole at the end, small cross-guard and another sling hole and specific thumb rest you can see it here. The other thing what is really nice by this knife is that all the details are really nicely made and the quality of the finish on a really high level like it should be for a Viper knife. Best Beginner Throwing Knives (Part 1 of 3)
FAQ: Is [insert knife brand here] good for a beginner? Believe it or not, I haven't thrown every knife on the market, so I can't say a set of knives are good or bad if I haven't thrown them. Check my "Throwing Knife Reviews" playlist to see most of the knives I own: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=... Here are the golden rules I follow when looking at throwing knives that would work for me: 1) Length should be over 8". I prefer the 10" length for no-spin throwing. For rotational throwing in a competition, the length should be 12" - 14". If you are throwing indoors at a closer range, than a 6" knife is doable as the benefit is less damage to your area and the length is okay for 2 m throws. But, smaller knives work best with targets that are easier to penetrate, like a rubber mat, archery target, cardboard, and broken-in end grain. For bo-shuriken, it's normal for the length to be around 6" and these work best with the targets described above. In the "Best Mid-Range Throwing Knife" video, I recommend the Cold Steel Sure Flights as you can do both rotational knife throwing and no spin. Although, they can be bit too light for rotational and a bit too long for no spin, however, for the price, it's a great starter set to see what style you gravitate towards. I find that most people love either Cold Steel, Condor, or John Bailey knives for their starter sets and after that, they move onto custom. If you're into no-spin, a lot of people love Flying Steel for their quality and ease in throwing. 2) The weight of the knife is important. Lighter knives are easier to throw quickly, but at farther distances can be flimsy. Heavy knives do great for throwing at long distances, but can be cumbersome to hold. Find out the weight ratio of your knife by dividing the weight in ounces by the length in inches. A light knife will be 0.4 - 0.6 ounces per inch. A medium weighted knife will be 0.7 - 0.9 oz/in. Heavy knives are usually 1 - 1.4 oz/in. The lighter the knife, the better it'll be at short range and for quick throws. The heavier the knife, the better it'll be at long range, but can be cumbersome to hold. Some of my favorite knives are in the 0.6 - 0.8 oz/in range, but that's because I like the feel of a lighter knife for no spin throwing. Shuriken or spikes should have a weight ratio of 0.3 - 0.4-- the light weight actually works well for long distance throws. Some of my worst knives had a weight ratio of 0.2 - 0.3 ounces per inch. Stay away from these knives! 3) The price of EACH knife should be above $10. I prefer paying $20 per knife or more. The more you spend on the knife, the more likely the quality of the knife will increase. Do not fall for the $15 for a set of 6 or 12 knives. You get exactly what you pay for when you buy a knife that costs a few dollars each-- a low-quality knife that will most likely bend, break, chip and won't throw well. 4) Buy from a knife maker if you can. Of course, a custom-made knife is going to be more expensive (about $30 per knife and up) than the mass-produced ones found in popular online stores, but it will most likely be made from quality steel and be heat-treated. Not to mention, designed by actual knife throwers and not people who have never thrown knives. If you don't know what heat treated means and/or you want to know more about quality steel, check out this video: http://youtu.be/nKxFEuq5zg8 Links to custom-knife makers can be found down below: Flying Steel's Store (USA) https://flyingsteel.com/ Libra Knives (USA) http://libraknives.com/ Crescent Knife Works eBay Page (Canada) http://www.knivesonnet.com/ Graf Knives (Poland) http://grafknives.pl/english/ Sharp Blades (Czech Republic) http://www.shopsharpblades.com/ www.sharpblades.cz Joe Darrah's email (USA) [email protected] Bill Page Knife Page (USA) http://www.facebook.com/groups/335822... Werner Lengmüller (Germany) https://www.facebook.com/werner.lengmuller?fref=ts 5) If you must go for mass-produced, go for a knife that's been designed by a knife thrower, like Gil Hibben or John Bailey. Joe Flowers is a knife maker who designed the Condor Dismissal (http://amzn.com/B003DA0TZK) and it's very popular amongst knife throwers. Here's my review on the Condor Dismissal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zPyT... Popular Sites that sell Low-end Throwing Knives: http://www.bladeplay.com/cat--Throwin... http://www.budk.com/ 6) Always buy a set. It's the best way to build body memory with a knife as well as reduce your time in retrieving. I prefer a set of 6 if I really like the knife, but that can be too expensive, so consider a set of 3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part 1: Best Beginner Low-End Throwing Knives http://youtu.be/lCDq1p0IQrs Part 2: Best Mid-Range Throwing Knives http://youtu.be/GEJD-eg97tE Part 3: Best High-End Throwing Knives (and No-Spin Knives) http://youtu.be/qAyIbNzhA5Y Good luck! Viper Pointer Knife
http://www.sharp-planet.eu/en/shopby/series_hunting_nav-viper_pointer_setter.html The content of Viper Pointer knife review: In this video I will be showing you Viper Pointer knife made by Tecnocut in Maniago Italy. For those who are not really interested in knives I can tell you that Maniago is very famous for knife making and that the Tecnocut is one of the companies, which are based in this city. The Pointer is smaller version of Viper knife Setter. It has really a distinct design and I think the best way to show it is to open the box. This is the actual number of this knife. Together with the knife you also get a small instruction sheet in Italian and in English about the guidelines for proper use, guidelines about safety, care and maintenance, about warranty materials used and general information about Viper brand by Tecnocut. The knife comes in really nice sheath made of brown leather. You can see the Viper logo on it and also the Maniago Italy, like I told you about the city. The sheath is custom designed for this knife; you can see it fits exactly in it. It has a one safety, you can carry it on the belt and it is quite massive. You can see that there is a lot of leather material in this sheath. The knife itself has a really interesting design. I personally think that this is one of the most beautiful knives in this size. As you can see it is drop-point design, it has really massive blade; the height of the blade is really big in comparison with other knives of this size. It also has a thumb-rest, small cross-guard, two sling holes; you can see one here and one here. It is 23.0 cm long, the blade itself is 10.0 cm long, it is 3.8 mm thick and it weight 165 grams. It is quite light and easy to use. It is made of Bohler N690 stainless steel, this is high quality stainless steel with really high corrosion resistance. It is made by Austrian company Bohler, which is used in most of knives made by Viper by Tecnocut. You can also see the Maniago logo on the knife, which guaranties the quality and the proper level of all other properties of this knife. What can I say more; the hardness of the blade is 57-59 HRC, which is quite a high value and the handle is made of ebony wood. You can see that all the details are nicely made, there was a great attention invested in this. We have really good quality feel with this knife. Also the handle itself is really ergonomically designed, it offers great grip, and also the place for the thumb is really nicely designed. The surface of the handle is really smooth. This type of wood is really highly resistant to all nature elements; water etc. This was Viper Pointer made by Tecnocut from Maniago Italy.

Viper Free Knife - PVD Coated blade
http://www.sharp-planet.eu/en/shopby/series_tactical_nav-viper_free.html The content of Viper Free Knife - PVD Coated blade video review: Hello! In this video, we are going to show you Viper Knife made by Tecnocut. It is named Free. It has a PVD coated blade, and it is one of tactical lines from Viper. All Viper knives are made by Tecnocut in Maniago in Italy; a famous city for knife making. There also many other knife making companies are based. This knife, Free, comes in a standard Viper box, with general information about company, about Tecnocut, and Viper brand. The box contains the knife, and the small instruction sheet. This instruction sheet is written in English and in Italian. It gives general information about maintenance and care. Some guidelines for proper use, it also explains the Maniago quality sign, and all the quality checks made on this knife. It also explains general materials, which are being used, and some general warranty information. Now about the knife itself. It is a foldable knife, tactical line from Viper, it enables one-hand opening. It is 21.0 cm long, it has drop-point nicely designed blade, with a thumb-hole. It has a really smart-lock; it is improved and patented by Viper. It is a liner-lock, but it has an additional safety. When this safety is put in rear position, it is not possible to open this liner-lock. When you release the safety, it is possible also to release the liner-lock, and close the knife. The knife itself is 21.0 cm long, the blade is 8.5 cm long, it is 3.6 thick, and the whole knife weight a little bit more than 120 grams. The steel used for the blade is tool steel, AISI D2. All other parts on the knife are made of stainless steel. The blade has Physical Vapour Deposition coating; it has a non-reflective black coating, it is really nice. All the details; there was much of an attention putted for details on this knife. The blade has a hardness of 58-60 HRC, which is really hard, and the handle is made of G10 composite material. It has really distinct pattern, a little bit rough surface for better grip; you do not lose it even if it is wet. It has a sling hole, at the end, and it has a nice, belt clip made of stainless steel. It has two nice rivets, a little bit bigger, made of stainless steel. And the whole knife is not too heavy, it is just right for any hand. This was a video of Viper Free PVD coated knife.

What Is a Survival Knife? | Knives
Watch more What You Need to Know About Knives videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/496030-What-Is-a-Survival-Knife-Knives Hi, my name's Dan Delavan. I'm the owner operator of Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa, California. We have a great selection. We also have a website, plazacutlery.com. And today we're going to be talking about knives. Most of us know survival knives by the Rambo movies. And the Rambo "First Blood" knife was the one that kind of put survival knives on the map. But, it was actually Randall, Danny Thornton, number of other people, Eye Brand also, made hollow handle survival knives. But most of us know a survival knife by the saw on the back. It is grooved down the middle, so it's just not one tooth. And then it has a matte finish in the middle. The edges are massed off. The guard has got a standard screwdriver and a phillips. Then the handle is cord wrapped. And then at the end it is knurled, and you have a compass. And in the original Liles you had a pocket knife. Now a lot of companies, instead of doing the hollow handle, because there is an inherent weakness in a hollow handle, your tang's only going to go this far back. And it's going to be fastened onto the stainless whether it's epoxied or soldered, or pinned. No matter how they do it it's going to be a little weaker. So what a lot of companies are doing now, such as the Chris Reeve, this is the Pacific which a lot of people use as a military knife and as a camp knife, what they've done is in the scabbard they've put a pouch in there. So you can put all your survival things in here. And then you have a much stronger knife. Well survival knives were basically built for small bush planes, four wheel drive vehicles, anybody that went into the back country that had a chance of getting stuck. And you needed a lot of stuff in a small area. And that's where they came up with the idea of a survival knife.

Viper Rhino Knife - Carbon
http://www.sharp-planet.eu/en/shopby/series_tactical_nav-viper_rhino.html The content of Viper Rhino Knife - Carbon video review Hello! In this video I will be showing you a Viper knife called Rhino with a carbon handle. Viper knives are made by Tecnocut, they are made in Maniago in Italy, as you can see. On packing you can see a logo of Viper knives, internet address, information that they are made in Maniago in Italy. Now we will check the knife inside. The knife comes with instruction manuals, which are written in Italian and English language. It gives you all information about the materials used, about a quality check, about the company information; it also gives you guidelines for proper use, how to care the knife and how to maintenance the knife and it also gives you information where to send the knife to repair, if anytime this will be needed. The knife is foldable, for an outdoor use. It offers one hand opening with a thumb-stud. It is possible to open this knife with left or right hand, both sides. As you can see, it is quite large. It is 25.0 cm long, when it is opened. The blade itself is 11.0 cm long and when it is folded, the knife has a length of 15.0 cm, a little bit less, 14.5 cm. The material used for the blade is Böhler N690 stainless steel and it has a semi-gloss finish, drop-point design, however, you can see that design is really special. It is Rhino remarkable design. Knife Review - Victorinox Pocket Pal
READ THE DESCRIPTION! In many ways the iconic pocket knife brand, I recently rediscovered my quite old Victorinox pocket pal. Initially I was extremely pleased to discover what is considered, by "modern" standards, an extremely fine edge. This sufficiently piqued my interest in this brand, which is otherwise looked down on by knife aficionados. Proceeding through the basics, the knife is a relatively thin flat ground blade of a proprietary stainless steel. Thickness behind the bevel apex is a scant .3mm on both the large and small blades, which are of a stock thickness of 2 and 1mm respectively. The larger blade is 10.8mm deep at its deepest point. The knife is also nicely rounded in most areas, quite light at roughly 23 grams, and quite inexpensive. The handle design has advantages and disadvantages. Its shape and lack of sharp edges or aggressive jimping allow it to effortlessly slip in and out of the pocket, a double edged sword. It will not chew up its pocket mates, however the soft plastic handle will readily be chewed up by its pocket mates. Also, it was discovered, sitting without a clip at the bottom of a pocket significantly accelerates lint buildup in the mechanism which severely impairs opening and thus overall functionality. The handle design itself is comfortable, but only really effective for light work. There is no guard of any sort to prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade, nor to keep the whole knife from simply slipping out of the user's hand. Thus, while there are no specific negatives to highlight, such as excessively sharp jimping, the knife can hardly be singled out as an ergonomic masterpiece. Furthermore I have witnessed a user applying sufficient force to the blade of one of these knives, in the course of normal camping cutting, as to drive the tang of the blade under the spring which acts as a stop. While I have not replicated this, I certainly don't see any reason why such a failure would be implausible on this knife. Optimism from there however is a bit more difficult to maintain. The knife's slipjoint design secures the blade closed, preventing intentional opening, far more effectively than it retains the blade open. It also allows the blade to snap closed in a manner which can be hazardous. In fact the thumbnail slit is so ineffective as an opening mechanism, I struggled significantly with the knife (having no nails) until I thoroughly cleaned and lubricated it. A knife suffering from this "in the wild" would be rendered significantly less useful as it is a chore to open. The stock edge angle was in excess of 45 degrees, extremely obtuse, and thus despite the thin bevel required surprising effort to sharpen. Grindability was very high though, which leads into the critical failing of the knife: its extremely low hardness, low wear resistance, and high malleability. The result is very poor edge retention, both from abrasive wear and deformation. Furthermore the knife is easily bent, as evidenced by the fact that it was straight at the beginning of this test and picked up a noticeable bend to the tip with no particularly noteworthy application of force to the tip in no small part due to the aforementioned safety issues with the lock. It can only be assumed this particular steel was selected for ease of machining/finishing and corrosion resistance as the knife comes with a very high polish on both blades. It is so soft in fact that, with superior knives, you can literally cut the edge off this knife. The one major advantage of these "classic" knives however is their public image. People perceive them as relatively innocuous, and they are legal in many places which have otherwise banned all semblance of useful tools from public areas and/or ownership outright.
