The bull, the most powerful animal and symbolic of the earth

56:46
The fighting bull is a species that notoriously represents Spanish identity. However, it is commonly forgotten that before bulls become the central character of this national 'fiesta', this animal has grown up in and been part of a rich natural environment. We examines the ecological complexity surrounding the life and development of a bull, in all stages, to know the role playing by him within the countryside in which he grows up, from gestation and birth until reaching four years of life in freedom and is taken to the bullring.

MSSD Totem Pole

03:21
ASL: Carl Lil Bear's description of the totem pole he created in 1989(?) Transcript: Totem Pole By Carl “Lil Bear” A long time ago native people had no written language and they used their totem poles for part of their communication. Special or hidden meanings were recorded on the totem poles for different reason. This totem pole is more of Northwest Coast Indian with Haida design – except for the bison. Carl, the artist, chose an eagle as it is MSSD’s mascot; a bear and a cub, because Carl himself is called “Lil Bear” who loves children (cub); and a bison – which is Gallaudet University’s mascot. An eagle has a great spirit and it can fly high above the earth. “Lightning” is represented on her beak. On the left side of the eagle’s head are the North Star and the moon. The right side showing four colors is the “medicine wheel.” The colors often represent the four elements – red (eagle), yellow (wolf), black (bear), and white (bison). Red is the east (bringing us a new day); Yellow is the south (the herbs that heal us); Black is the west (water is life); and White is the north (the snow preventing many sicknesses). On the Eagle’s neck is a symbol for the sun. On each of Eagle’s feet is a red circle, signifying “mother eagle.” On both wings are one small and one big design. These are called “Tingit.” The same are on Bear Mother’s ears. The small one on the wing represents “raven.” But it can also mean “bear” or “beaver.” The big one represents “wolf.” Mother Bear’s represent “whale.” Her eyes are canoes, symbols for “action” or “life.” On her arms are designs which are also tattooed on the artist, Carl Lil Bear’s arms. Bear Mother holds her cub for protection. On the lower and right side of Bear Mother is a “Hopi Flute Dancer.” On her left side is a tepee which is always facing east (entrance). The turtle with a cross (which represents north, east, south, and west) is a symbol for earth and the North Cheyenne tribe. Some designs are southwest and Navajo. The bison symbolizes “mystery of medicine,” and represents Gallaudet (whose mascot is the bison). The final two paws on the end and right side are our signatures – Silver Wolf’s paw (Pam’s) and Bear’s claw (Carl’s).

Bison sacred animal

04:10

Tribes and Totem Animals. Full Documentary

▶FULL DOCUMENTARIES | http://planetdoc.tv/playlist-full-documentaries ▶ Spanish video: http://planetdoc.tv/documental-completo-tribus-y-animales-totemicos Our Homo ancestors began to eat more meat than any other primate. This change in diet enabled them to reduce the length of the digestive tract and increase the size of the brain. Very soon, the human mind began to associate the different species with their supposed powers, and so the totemic animals were born. The human brain’s capacity for abstraction meant we went one step further, seeing in animals the incarnation of spirits and gods. The human intellect sought to manipulate this magic world, and in the depths of ritual caves man drew the animals whose spirits could bestow their powers on him. The world would never be the same, a subjective reality had been born inside the head of the last primate. The bison would no longer be just an animal, from now on man’s companions in biological evolution also became part of his rites. This strange relationship between man and nature became a struggle for domination, a struggle which still continues today. In a strip which goes from India to Australia, and including all of Indonesia, lives the largest reptile in the world. It is the marine crocodile, an animal which the peoples of the Southern Hemisphere could not help but notice. The tribes who live in this area believe that the crocodile created the earth from the water, and in it rent an enormous fissure with which it copulated. From this union were born the plants, the animals and man. When it opened its enormous mouth, the The Australian Aborigines have their own answer, painted on the rocks of their land. The Aborigine culture revolves around the spiritual ancestors from what they call the “Dream Time”, and is transmitted from one generation to another through these drawings and the oral tradition. The “Dream Time” explains the creation of the earth and all the living beings, always accompanied by the magical notes of the sacred instrument, the “didgeridoo”. This is probably the oldest known Genesis, or at least the oldest that has reached us still alive in the people that believe it. On the other side of the planet, in the rain forests of South America, lives an animals whose power was always associated with the fears and desires of all the civilisations that came into contact with it. And it continues to be the King, the largest feline in the Western Hemisphere: the jaguar. Today, the great cat does not occupy as much territory as in the past. When it lived alongside the pre-Inca cultures in Peru, there were jaguars in the deserts and in the mountains as well as in the jungles. But the traces of the legend remain. In the symbolic art of the archaeological sites it still smells of fresh blood. Millions of years of changes on the Planet Earth have produced incredible diversity, a variety of settings in which to put to the test life’s resources for survival. A handful of animal species have proven supremely successful in this selection process imposed by nature. At the head of this list of winners stands man, and when we outgrew the physical world, we began to discover other dimensions inside our own minds. Then, we decided to establish an arbitrary scale of values to divide up the other animals into good and bad. What was first admiration and later a desire to be like them, soon became domination. The totemism which paid homage to the animal and worshipped it changed when man stopped being a hunter-gatherer and, from the Neolithic age, began to be governed by new socio-economic rules. The mythical halo of the animals almost entirely disappeared in the dominant western culture, but survived in many others. Now, what some call “global culture” has adopted nature as simply one more consumer product; the new religion of city-dwellers is conservationism, the new gods are the species in danger of extinction.

Buffalo Spirit Walks With Us

05:24
Wild Family is a feature-length documentary film about parenting with passion and presence. The recording you see here is an art film of sorts, with the symbolic imagery of a buffalo herd accompanied by the spiritual song, "Ave Maria," written by Saint Hildegard of Bingen and performed by Susan Lincoln. This song is included in the Wild Family film, with permission from the artist. "Buffalo Spirit Walks With Us" serves as a 5-minute intermission in the Wild Family film. The idea is to give the audience a break for the sake of diaper changes, snacks and other necessities of childcare. The lighthearted message in this intermission balances the heaviness of the film's content, while highlighting themes from the film. For information about the Wild Family film, see www.wildfamily.tv.

The American buffalo, bison, or "iinnii," as the animals are called by members of the Blackfoot Confederacy, gave strength to the tribes, providing lodging, clothing, food, and the foundation of spiritual and social relationships. Now, the Blackfeet and the Wildlife Conservation Society are working to restore buffalo for the sake of their children and the landscape itself.

The Bison shaman guy did some crazy mojo and rose up the ghosts of ancient Bison Spirit Shaman! And once THEY were defeated, things just got weird with an attack of - get this - Ghost Jackalopes! And they were not just silly - they were viscous!!

Spirit Animism: Buffalo

00:35
Prayer and Abundance A Buffalo totem will seek to help you establish a deep connection to Mother Earth and it will ask you to help the endangered species of our planet. He will bring you the strength of character and an independent spirit. Do not push or force, but follow the easiest path. If the Buffalo is your Spirit Animal: You will achieve nothing without the aid of the Spirits and you must be humble enough to ask for assistance and then be grateful for those gifts. Those who have a Buffalo totem must walk a sacred path, honoring every walk of life. Buffalo is knowing that abundance is present when all relations are honored as sacred and when gratitude is expressed to every part of creation.

"Eagle" By:Johnny Whitehorse

Flute, Native American Dedicated to All Eagles, King's&Queens Of The Sky By Johnny Whitehorse Album=Totemic Flute Chants Released '2007 EAGLE Spirit, Healing, Creation: The eagle is symbol of the zenith. A great reminder of your own ability to soar to great heights. Eagles are messengers from heaven and are the embodiment of the spirit of the sun. Those with an Eagle totem need to have an involvement with creation; a willingness to experience extremes; a willingness to use your ability even if it means getting "scorched" a little as you fly high; a willingness to seek out your true emotions. A demanding totem, but one that offers so much reward at the end of the journey. Its four-toed feet remind you to stay grounded even went soaring high; Its talons remind you to grasp the things of the earth; Its sharp beak shows you when to speak, how much, and how strongly. This totem will show you opportunities and how to ride the winds to your benefit. Eagle people can live in the realm of the spirit yet still remain connected and balanced within the realm of the Earth. You must become much more than you ever dreamed possible. The Eagle: by Emily M. Parris The eagle is a magnificent bird Who soars with graceful ease He's a symbol of our heritage As he glides upon the breeze He's a symbol of our freedom In his soaring boundless flight A beacon for humanity And a splendid, noble sight His huge wingspan maneuvers him In boundless soaring flight Oh eagle, in your majesty May we follow you tonight May we soar like eagles on the wings Of dreams composed of light Oh, eagle, in your splendor May we follow you tonight
