Man swept out to sea during beach baptism at Santa Barbara dune park
A California man is missing, feared dead after being swept out to sea during a baptism ceremony gone wrong on Sunday, local authorities said. Forty-three-year old Benito Flores was part of a group of around 25 members of Santa Maria church Jesus Christ Light of the Sky taking part in the Baptism ceremony at the Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve in Santa Barbara. Several men were standing in the sea when a huge wave knocked them over and swept Flores and two other men out to sea. Pastor Maurigro Cervantes tried in vain to grab Flores but he was swept away by a second wave. The two other men managed to swim back to the beach. But Flores was not so lucky. The huge waves carried him out to sea and he is still missing. Several rescue teams and helicopters joined the search for Flores, but to no avail. The search is ongoing. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Oblique Icebreaker Baltika - Ice trials on 19 March - 10 April 2015
Developed by Aker Arctic, the icebreaking rescue vessel Baltika is the first ship ever built with an asymmetric hull that allows her to break ice not only ahead and astern, but also sideways. In this way, the relatively small oblique icebreaker is capable of opening a wide channel in ice. Completed in 2014, the new icebreaker was scheduled to undergo full scale ice trials this winter in order to confirm the vessel´s performance. Baltika departed from Murmansk on 20 March 2015 with the Aker Arctic team on board and sailed around the northern tip of Novaya Zemlya and across the Kara Sea to the Gulf of Ob, close to the Sabetta terminal area, to carry out the ice trials. The testing program consisted of performance tests in two distinct ice thicknesses in ahead and astern directions as well as in the oblique mode. Various operational tests were also carried out in order to determine the maneuverability and operational capability of the vessel. The thickness and strength of the ice was measured in the areas where tests were carried out. An automatic measurement system was set up to record ice loads on the ship’s hull through the whole three-week voyage which concluded in Murmansk on 10 April 2015. Although the ice conditions in the area were on the upper end of the vessel’s designed icebreaking capability and the ice in the Gulf of Ob was considerably stronger than typical sea ice, Baltika exceeded expectations and the required performance targets were passed with a clear margin. The vessel could break 1.2-metre level ice in continuous motion when proceeding bow first and could achieve a speed exceeding 3 knots in astern direction. The oblique mode, which had never been tested before in real life, also worked extremely well and the vessel fulfilled all the design requirements. During operational tests, Baltika also demonstrated excellent maneuverability and rubble clearing capability in the port of Sabetta as well as ability to penetrate heavy compressive ice ridges in the Kara Sea without ramming. According to Project Manager Mika Hovilainen who was on board the vessel during the ice trials, “Baltika’s voyage to the Gulf of Ob proves the exceptional operational capability of the oblique icebreaker concept in very difficult ice conditions. The vessel could operate in ice conditions that exceeded the design criteria used as the basis of the vessel concept. Baltika could carry out the same operations as conventional icebreakers with just half of the propulsion power as well as perform maneuvers which are not possible for any other vessel currently in service.” Baltika (IMO number 9649237) was built by Arctech Helsinki Shipyard (Helsinki, Finland) in co-operation with Shipyard Yantar JSC (Kaliningrad, Russia) based on Aker Arctic’s oblique icebreaker design , Aker ARC 100. The vessel is 76.4 metres long and has a beam of 20.5 metres, and has a diesel-electric power plant consisting of three Wärtsilä 9L26 generating sets with a combined output of 9 MW. Baltika is propelled by three 2.5 MW Steerprop azimuth thrusters, two in the stern and one in the bow of the vessel. The dynamic positioning system, which also includes the oblique icebreaking mode, has been developed by Navis Engineering. The vessel is classified by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and its ice class is Icebreaker6. In addition to icebreaking duties, the vessel is also fitted with a built-in oil recovery system. Baltika is owned by the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Russia (Rosmorrechflot) and operated by the Russian Marine Emergency Rescue Service (FGI Gosmorspassluzhba). * * * Music by zero-project (www.zero-project.gr); used under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) 3.0 Unported License.

STRANGEST Things Found In The Ocean!

For years, though, researchers have been tracking a certain number of items to monitor the currents, and what they are might surprise you. In the 1990’s, a large shipment of Nike shoes was accidently dropped from a cargo ship and into the deep waters of the ocean. While a big loss for the company that manufactured the shoes, this accident was a big break for scientists. It turns out that each of the Nike shoes of the some 80,000 that were lost all carried the same serial code printed on them. The code that was printed on the shoes was 90 04 06. This distinct marking has allowed ocean experts to track the movements of the shoes for years, allowing them to better understand how and where different underwater currents move and interact with one another. Nike might have lost a lot of money when they lost their shoes, but they’ve certainly helped advance the sciences a bit. Hm, wonder if they got to write the loss off on their tax returns. 7. Bananas For Everyone Most of us imagine sea shells when we think about walking along our local beach lines -- or maybe sharks if one is a bit more cautious around water. However, sometimes something entirely unexpected makes its way onto shore. These things range from the odd, to the mysterious, to the comical. In November of 2007, an island in the Dutch North Sea was treated to a rare and weird kind of tide washing in. The waves came in one morning and the next thing the people of Terschelling Island knew there were bananas all over their beach. Thousands of green, unripe fruit littered the sand, attracting a large number of the nearby town’s citizens to collect and scavenge the unexpected haul of produce. There were just far too many bananas for anyone to know what to do with them. Some of the locals even suggested sending them to the local zoos. As weird as this occurrence might sound, the citizens of Terschelling are actually used to the contents of random, lost shipping containers washing up on their homes’ doorstep. Sweaters, shoes, and hundreds of children's’ toys are all example of the type of things that have washed up on the Dutch island. Plenty of things floating around their waters! 6. Human-Sized Fish Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the list of cryptids go on. For thousands of years, humanity has whispered about things hiding in the shadows that mainstream science has yet to recognize. Many believers in these shadowy creatures even point to seemingly extinct animals as proof that monstrous beings have existed at one time and might still survive somewhere, unseen, even today. Perhaps nowhere is the existence of extinct creatures more possible than in the mostly unexplored seas and oceans of the world. Just around 98% of the Earth’s waters are unexplored, unmapped, and undocumented in any kind of detail, leading to the question of just what might be lurking down under the deep blue waves that crash just off our safe shores. Despite us only having explored around 2% of the water in the world, most experts still doubt the existence of modern, underwater prehistoric or cryptid creatures. In 1938, however, a fish called a Coelacanth that can grow to be the size of a large human was discovered off the coast of South Africa. This fish was previously thought to have gone extinct up to 66 millions years prior to its rediscovery -- and yet, we found it living right under our noses. Wonder what else is hiding in plain sight? 5. Rotting Ball In August of 2016, a 36-year-old man named Mark Watkins was fishing with his aging father in the waters off the western coast of Australia. As their boat pushed them through the waters, the two fisherman never expected to stumble upon a large, floating pink blob that was absolutely gigantic! The alien blob of pink and white seemed bloated and full of air. Upon first inspection, Mr. Watkins and his father at thought that it was a hot air balloon or even a weird kind of upturned boat. The fishermen's’ curiosity got the best of them, so they inspected it further. Upon coming closer to the floating white ball, the two discovered that flippers were attached to the large object and the smell was terrible! 11 Things Found After Japanese Tsunami
Some of the craziest things will wash up after a big storm like an entire yacht on top of a building and soccer ball across the country! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 6. A Japanese Dock This piece of debris happened to be part of a Japanese dock that was torn from its moorings during the tsunami and washed up on the shores of Oregon and brought back what researchers believe to be about 100 tons of sea life. Scientists from the Oregon State University state that the 66-foot-long deck has around 13 pounds of organisms per square foot. The dock did not show any signs of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdown caused by the tsunami, but it did pose the threat of carrying invasive species. What that means is that these creatures that aren’t natives to the area could potentially throw the local ecosystems out of whack and cause irreparable damage to the native wildlife, such as the dread zebra mussel. 5. A Mystery Creature There have been some unusual things that have washed up on random shores after tsunamis, this being one of them. After the 2011 tsunami hit, this giant white mass had been washed out onto the shore of Japan and had many of the locals, along with everyone who watched this video on YouTube, wondering what it even was? Some thought it to be a brand new creature that had risen from the dark depths of the ocean floor while others speculated it was merely a large rock or boulder. Don’t worry, officials have concluded that this isn’t some new species that’s going to wipe us out. They simply stated that it’s most likely just a mass of whale blubber from the carcass of a dead whale that’s pretty much unrecognizable. 4. A Shipping Tote Back in November of 2014, this shipping tote had washed up near the shores of Seal Rock in Oregon. This 4-by-5 foot plastic shipping tote had been floating out at sea for the last 3 years since the tsunami struck and amassed around 200 blue mussels that were attached to it. Like the dock that was found in 2012, this tote was a potential host for carrying invasive species and scientist eventually determined it as a non-threat to the surrounding environment. Still, the amount of debris, the total estimated to be around 18.11 million tons with 70 percent of the debris sinking to the bottom of the ocean, is still rather high and is still washing up years after that tragic event took place. 3. Various Trash A barge from the fishing town of Ucluelet in British Columbia had carried in around “super sacks” of debris caused by the tsunami. Those sacks are designed to hold up to 1,000 pounds, so you can only imagine how heavy all that weight could possibly be. Ever since the tsunami struck, there have been volunteer pickups in the town where local and Japanese students have gotten involved. They’ve managed to collect all different sorts of garbage such as styrofoam, pieces of Japanese houses, and other debris. Though they’ve made progress, their results haven’t been achieved through smooth sailing. The coastline of Ucluelet is described as remote and rugged which made the cleanups very difficult and the fact that there was already debris unrelated to the tsunami already there makes for even more trash than expected. 2. An Entire Ship This yacht happened to be discovered in the Iwate Prefecture in Northeastern Japan in the town of Otsuchi nearly two months after the tsunami had hit. The ship weighs in at an incredible 200 tons and it’s a huge surprise that the two-story building that is supporting all that weight is still somehow managing to keep from collapsing. It’s hard to even process the amount of force needed to lift the ship. 1. A House As one of the most powerful and deadly disasters that can occur in nature, the tsunami is one that leaves devastation in its wake. Their sheer force can only be imagined by those who have never witnessed what it can be capable of at first hand and even then you can never come close to doing it justice. Take for example this house that was a part of the Fukushima debris. This was someone’s entire home where they built a life for themselves around it and in a matter of moments, it was swept off its foundation and carried out into the sea, along with what is estimated to be another 200,000 buildings.

US and UK Warship carried out the first joint Large-Scale exercise in the contested South China Sea
BREAKING: US Navy and UK Warship carried out the first joint Large-Scale exercise in the contested South China!! The United States and Britain have conducted their first joint naval drills in the disputed South China Sea since China built island bases there, the two navies said on Wednesday, as Washington seeks help from allies to keep pressure on Beijing. A U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer the USS McCampbell, which is based in Japan, and a Royal Navy frigate, HMS Argyll, which is on a tour of Asia, conducted communication drills and other exercises from Friday to Wednesday “to address common security priorities”, the U.S. Navy said in a press release. “There’s no record in recent history of operations together, specifically in the South China Sea,” a U.S. Navy spokesman said. No such joint drills have been conducted there since at least 2010, he added. The exercise comes after another British warship, the 22,000 ton HMS Albion, sailed close to the Paracel island chain claimed by China in the South China Sea in August. It was the first time Britain had directly challenged China’s growing control of the strategic waterway and came after the United States said it would like to see more international participation in such action. Beijing accused London of engaging in “provocation”. The McCampbell this month passed within 12 nautical miles of the same island chain in a freedom of navigation operation, which the U.S. Navy said was to “challenge excessive maritime claims”. ► Sources for this episode:https://goo.gl/6PzQYs Watch more videos: ► How Much Should the United States Spend on Defense? https://goo.gl/uGZXBP ► Another REASON Why the F-22 Raptor Is the MOST DANGEROUS FIGHTER!! https://goo.gl/DXaTh9 ► Why F-35 Stealth Not Ready for War? https://goo.gl/7pxQj2 Music By: DTD MUSIC https://soundcloud.com/mehmettorcuk DISCLAIMER: Information, Facts or Opinion expressed in this Video are Presented as Sources and do not reflects views of WAR IS BORING and hence, WAR IS BORING is not liable or responsible for the same. UNBELIEVABLE Items Found After Tsunamis !
You won't believe the strange, weird, bizarre and scary things found after a tsunami hits ! From sea monsters; to deep sea buildings. Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 5.Buoys These buoys were just common port objects before the Japanese tsunami of 2011, but on American soil they look completely out of place. This yellow pod showed up on the shores of Northwest America, heightening fear that the United State’s West coast couldn’t handle the massive amounts of toxic debris that was set to come into the area. Years later, items from afar are still appearing in parts of Washington, Oregon, and California. The thought of how far away sea traveling objects had to move from just really proves how powerful the Pacific ocean currents are. 4.It’s Both With it appearing to weigh so much, it’s no wonder that it took the full force of a tsunami to hoist this big ole guy out the water and into human captivity. Researchers believe it to be some type of cross hybrid between a Beluga whale and a shark, but who knew that those two species of animal could even breed? It was probably one of those “shark from the wrong side of the tracks falls in love with the innocent but spontaneous beluga whale” type romances. 3.Look Out For This One Yikes! We’re going to need a bigger boat to deal with this guy. This huge fish washed ashore on the shores of New York harbor after a miniature tsunami came and wiped out small portions of Brooklyn. The current carried hipsters all the way to Boston, Massachusetts, where their wicker hats and old fashioned bicycles were not socially accepted. This fish is called “The April Fools Day” flounder, because he is completely fake. This picture was actually originally posted on the New York Post as an introduction to another actual real creature that was discovered. Sorry, everyone! 2.One Eyed Susan This fish appears to be so creepy, that it is probing us to ask you this fun “would you rather” question. Would you rather eat this fish, or have to stare in the eye for three hours straight? Neither option is preferable. We say “eye” instead of “eyes , because apparently, this fish only had one eye. The sheer look of terror in his -eye- was probably caused by the crazy powerful tsunami he had to surf all the way to the shore. 1.Mosque Remains While many people tend to remember and focus on the 2011 tsunami in Japan, there have been many other horrible tsunamis that have caused much destruction over the years. For example, the Indian Ocean tsunami on December 26, 2004. The town of Meulaboh, located on the West coast of Sumatra, lost forty thousand citizens out of it’s already mid-sized population . A series of seven waves caused by a magnitude 9.1 earthquake caused most of the city to be washed away into the wrath of the sea. The Indonesian province was hit the hardest over any other country affected by the quake. This grayish looking pod almost appears to be an old spaceship from the 1960s, but it actually means so much more to people of Meulaboh. Many people in Indonesia are deeply religious, and have turned to God for answers to try and understand why so much sadness and destruction would come into their lives. Some people blame it on the wrath of God who wanted to send a “wake up call” to a reportedly “sinful city”, and the remaining mosques have been places to regain hope and strength.

Navy's Sea Salvage and Rescue Unit conducts winter training at sea
해군 해난구조전대, 겨울바다에서 구조작전태세 담금질 Last week,... the South Korean Navy's Sea Salvage and Rescue Unit carried out its annual winter training. Plunging into the freezing waters, the fearless and dedicated professionals demonstrated they're more than ready for any mission. Kan Hyeong-woo takes us closer to the action. Around 100 members of the Navy's Sea Salvage and Rescue Unit warm up with some light jogging and stretching. They are preparing for what's to come: a plunge into the bitterly cold sea with only a pair of shorts on. Part of their annual five-day winter training, the special unit made the jump last Thursday into waters off the naval military port in Jinhae, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. "I felt like my hands and feet were about to fall off when I plunged into the sea. But I was able to overcome the challenge and gain some confidence from my unit as we endured it together." "Train and shine Sea Salvage and Rescue Unit " The special unit's winter training also included rubber boat pedaling and a search and rescue mission from a maritime helicopter. This year's program focused on adapting the unit's members to extremely cold sea temperatures and preparing them for any challenges they may face on the high seas. "This year's training is about making sure SSU divers are ready to complete their duties under any circumstances. We'll continue to put the utmost effort into protecting the lives of the people and keeping our seas safe." As one of the South Korean Navy's special forces along with the UDT/SEAL,... the Ship Salvage and Rescue Unit is well-known for its intense and months-long training period,... which demands both physical and mental excellence. Their missions normally include ship salvaging, search and rescue, removing obstacles from harbors or other waterways, and the reconnaissance of enemy vessels. 10 Findings From Underneath the SEA
From secret underwater rivers to mysterious artifacts discovered in places you wouldn't expect possible. Check out these 10 findings from underneath the sea. 10 - Underwater River It’s kind of difficult to picture what an underwater river looks like, right? … Well, check it out for yourself: this submerged paradise is absolutely stunning, completely unlike anything else on the planet. This “river” is actually composed of salty water and hydrogen sulfide, which is what causes it to settle at the bottom of the ocean, its density is higher than regular salt water so, it sinks. The shores are made of hundreds of thousands of mussels. Unfortunately, hydrogen sulfide is extremely toxic, so no chances of fishing in this river... that, and it’s under the ocean, so breathing might be an issue too. The underwater marvel is located in Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, about 18 meters (or 60 feet) below the ocean surface, it’s called Cenote Angelita, which is Spanish for Little Angel. Its acts just like a real river, it flows naturally, it has waterfalls and it even has occasional waves! The amateur cave explorers who found it were stunned by it’s eerie beauty. 9 - Elongated Human Skulls This underwater Mayan cave is racked with mystery and excitement! It is located in the same place as the underwater river from earlier, in Sac Uayum of the Yucatan Peninsula. Due to an old myth that says the cave is guarded by a horse-headed serpent, villagers were prevented from coming near the site for generations! It wasn’t until 2014 that archaeologist Bradley Russell and his team undertook the task of exploring it. Before they began, a local shaman prepared a spiritual “Calming the earth” ceremony to ask the gods for permission to enter the sacred place. What they found was could only be described as frightful: skulls and bones scattered the floors and tunnels! But even scarier - these skulls were not normal. They were, elooongaaated. It’s believed that the skulls were intentionally flattened during infancy, and the purpose of the practice still remains a mystery. Although it’s not the first time elongated skulls were found, archaeologists don’t know what these ones were doing there, since bodies in Mayan culture were buried near their houses and not underwater. Since the Mayan believed in many things, one possibility is, that they were infected by the plague and buried away from the village in order to prevent contamination, but the more mythically minded believe that the dead might have been buried there, in the so called “underworld” to await the next cycle of creation. 8- Bahama Sphinx Often when talking about sphinxes, we think about Giza, Greece or Egypt. So then how can we explain this big guy? A Middle Eastern Sphinx sitting continents away on the ocean floor of...the Bahamas. It is dated back thousands of years Before Common Era and has been resting the bottom of the ocean for approximately 2500 years. A team of underwater archaeologists were studying an ancient shipwreck in 2014 when the sphinx was found, they were absolutely baffled by the discovery since the statue is so far from its ‘home’. The chemical analysis of the stone has shown that it was almost certainly extracted from a quarry near Wadi Rahanu, an *Egyptian* region known for its quarrying industry since 3500 BCE. The base of the statue seem to have carried an inscription, but due to erosion it’s been made impossible to decipher or identify. Since ancient Egyptians were rather poor seamen, researchers are working on the possibility that the statue had been brought overseas by a ship that eventually sunk, but why it was brought at all may remain a mystery. 7- Jersey Locomotives In 1985, Paul Hepler was mapping the bottom of the ocean with a magnometer when he discovered a train graveyard, off the coast of new Jersey. The locomotives found were small and rare, they were only produced for a short period of time in the 1850’s. This at first doesn’t appear to be much of a discover, but as you dig further we discover that there aren’t historical records of the locomotives being lost or...even being built in the first place! Experts believe that they were being transported from Boston to the Mid-Atlantic in a barge, but failed to reach their destination. The barge had probably encountered a storm on the way and either the engines fell off accidentally, or they were deliberately pushed off to lighten the load and prevent a shipwreck. The trains are so well preserved that plans of recovering and restoring them are under way by Dan Lieb, a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Explorers Club. The restoration would give researchers the opportunity to study a rare engine model and also be extremely exciting for train enthusiasts world-wide! 6-Apollo 11 Engine 5-The Baltic Sea Anomaly 4 - Complex of Yonaguni 3 - Uluburun Shipwreck 2 - The Galleon San Jose 1- Pavlopetri – 5000 year-old town underwater

Young Dolphin Dies When It's Carried On The Beach For People To Stroke And Take Selfies With
These are the sickening images that show a young dolphin's last moments before it died of dehydration when it was picked up out of the sea by a crowd. The mammal was found on an Argentine beach as sunbathers lifted it to take photographs with the animal. They crowded around it as it squirmed and wriggled but the oblivious selfie-takers carried on playing with it. The rare La Plata dolphin, which can live for 20 years, was eventually killed after it became dehydrated out of the water. Sickeningly, the crowd continued to take pictures of the poor animal as it lay dead on the sandy beach. Argentinian officials have blasted the incident and reminded people that the dolphins die quickly out of the sea. The Wildlife Foundation in Argentina issued a public notice about the vulnerable species, which only live off the coast of Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. "This occasion serves to inform the public about the urgent necessity to return these dolphins to the sea as soon as possible if they find them on the shore," it continued. "It is fundamental that people help to rescue these animals, because every Franciscana counts now." La Plata dolphins - also known as the Franciscana - are listed as 'Vulnerable' in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (ICUN) Red List of Threatened Species. It is of extreme conservation concern because of its vulnerability to getting accidentally caught in fishing gear. There are thought to be only around 30,000 of the species left in the world. Breaking ALERT - China shows off weaponry amid US-UK drills in South China Sea
China holds missile drills in South China Sea amid heightened tension China’s navy carried out drills in the South China Sea to simulate fending off an aerial attack, state media said on Friday, as the country trades barbs with the United States over responsibility for heightened tension in the disputed waterway. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed concern during a visit to Beijing on Thursday over China’s efforts to militarise the seas. His remarks came after a flurry of U.S. activity in the region, including reports last week that U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers had flown near disputed islands that drew a sharp rebuke from China. China’s navy carried out a simulated missile attack in an unspecified area of the South China Sea using three target drones making flyovers of a ship formation at varying heights, the official army newspaper said. The drills were part of efforts by a training base, also unspecified, to prepare for real-life combat with aerial targets after China’s leadership said some training failed to prepare troops effectively, it added. The United States and China have frequently sparred over who is militarising the South China Sea, with Beijing blaming tension on actions such as the “freedom of navigation” operations by the U.S. navy. Washington says such operations are necessary to counter China’s efforts to limit nautical movement there. A U.S. Navy destroyer sailed through waters claimed by China in May just days after the United States withdrew an invitation to it for a major U.S. hosted naval drill. Critics have said the operations have little impact on Chinese behaviour and are largely symbolic. Pentagon officials have long complained that China has not been candid enough about its rapid military build-up and its use of South China Sea islands to gather intelligence. In addition to China, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philipines, Taiwan, and Vietnam all have competing claims in the South China Sea. Strengthening the navy has been a key part of China’s ambitious military modernisation overseen by President Xi Jinping, as it seeks to project power far from its shores. State television on Friday showed pictures of Xi touring a submarine in the northern port city of Qingdao, where was briefed on its weapons systems, chatted with sailors and asked questions about the submarine fleet’s training.

China's largest naval parade of power in the open sea
The formation of an aircraft carrier led by China's first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, had initially developed combat capabilities for group operations, said a Chinese military spokesman. The aircraft carrier has carried out comprehensive exercises, including combat training on the high seas, in an orderly manner according to the plan set after being put into service, Ren Guoqiang, spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, said at a press conference. A comprehensive system of fortification and defense attacks has been tested effectively. "The carrier group exercises have been deepened and extended to the high seas. This formation initially developed the system's combat capabilities. Liaoning, an aircraft carrier made by the Soviet Union, was put in command of the Chinese People's Liberation Navy (PLA) in 2012. J-15 jets managed to take off and land at Liaoning at night.

High Alert: China to send TWO warships to CONFRONT US Navy in South China Sea
High Alert: China to send TWO warships to CONFRONT US Navy in South China Sea CHINA has threatened to ramp up its aggression towards the US in the South China Sea, after military and government officials discussed the tensions and relations between the world’s two largest economies on Saturday. Chinese media has reported the situation in the contested South China Sea is on the brink of escalation. The claim was made by the state-owned tabloid, Global Times. The paper quoted a senior Chinese military official, who declared China should be prepared to attack US naval vessels, should the US violate Chinese “territorial waters”. Dai Xu, who is president of the Institute of Marine Safety and Cooperation, said: “If the US warships break into Chinese waters again, I suggest that two warships should be sent: one to stop it, and another one to ram it. “In our territorial waters, we won't allow US warships to create disturbance.” The PLAAF Air Force Colonel Commander was quoted by the Chinese tabloid after a conference held in Beijing on Saturday. Referring to the increasingly regular Freedom of Navigation Operations being carried out by the United States in the South China Sea, Mr Dai said he couldn’t understand why people in China were afraid of using military force to counter US Navy activity. Chinese Navy conducted live ammunition combat drills in the Bohai Sea & the Yellow Sea
Dozens of missiles were fired in the drills, according to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy. In addition to naval forces, which took a major part in the drills, forces from the PLA Air Force also participated. The drills, involving dozens of surface vessels and submarines, more than ten aircraft as well as troops of the coastal defense force, carried out exercises including different forces' joint operations against offshore and onshore targets, as well as air interception. The PLA Navy said the drills aimed to test the military capability of systemic combat, operation and training methods and weaponry, as part of regular arrangements organized in the military's annual exercise plan.

News Alert: U.S. Navy Destroyer Challenges China In South China Sea
News Alert: U.S. Navy Destroyer Challenges China In South China Sea A U.S. guided-missile destroyer sailed near disputed islands in the South China Sea in what China called a "provocation" as U.S. officials joined talks in Beijing during a truce in a bitter trade war. Zachary Goelman reports. A U.S. guided-missile destroyer on Monday sailed near disputed islands in the South China Sea in what Beijing called a “provocation” as U.S. officials joined talks in China during a truce in a bitter trade war. The USS McCampbell carried out a “freedom of navigation” operation, sailing within 12 nautical miles of the Paracel Island chain, “to challenge excessive maritime claims”, a Pacific Fleet spokeswoman said in a statement. A spokesperson for China's foreign ministry called the naval maneuver a violation of international law.

U.S. Warships Pass Through Taiwan Strait Amid China Tensions
U.S. Warships Pass Through Taiwan Strait Amid China Tensions Two U.S. warships passed through the Taiwan Strait on Saturday on a voyage that will likely be viewed in the self-ruled island as a sign of support by President Donald Trump amid heightened tension with China. “Two U.S. Navy ships conducted a routine transit through the international waters of the Taiwan Strait on July 7-8 (local time),” Captain Charlie Brown, a spokesman for U.S. Pacific Fleet, told Reuters in a statement. “U.S. Navy Ships transit between the South China Sea and East China Sea via the Taiwan Strait and have done so for many years,” Brown said. U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the destroyers Mustin and Benfold carried out the passage. Earlier on Saturday, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said the ships were moving in a northeastern direction, adding that the situation was in accordance with regulations.

South china sea : China completes fourth round of sea trials for new Aircraft Carrier
South china sea : China completes fourth round of sea trials for new Aircraft Carrier SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- China could have its first domestically built aircraft carrier in commission within a few months, after completing the latest round of sea trials on the Type 002 vessel. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy’s (PLAN) first locally designed and built aircraft carrier returned from its fourth set of trials in the Yellow Sea to the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) shipyard. The vessel, which is yet to be officially named, is believed to have carried out a number of advanced tests during the latest trial, including flyover tests and touchdowns on deck, and could be delivered by Chinese Navy Day on 23 April, according to Beijing-based military expert Li Jie. “The engineers have gained experience after working on the Liaoning – such as what are the key issues or weaknesses the tests should focus on, and which areas are less likely to be problems,” Li said. “So that means the testing on this vessel will move faster than for the Liaoning, it will take less time.” The Type 002 is based on the Liaoning, which is China's only operational aircraft carrier for the time being. China bought the Kuznetsov Class carrier in 1998 when the vessel was half built, and began refitting the warship in 2005.  The Liaoning was commissioned in 2012, with the Type 002 featuring a number of changes despite drawing inspiration from the carrier. The Chinese-designed and built carrier will be able to carry 32 J-15 fighter jets, six more than the Liaoning is able to transport. The Type 002 also features a bigger aircraft hangar and an updated design for the control tower and bridge, as well as more up-to-date radar and electronic systems. Previous sea trials for the vessel (expected to be named Shandong) took place in May, August and October 2018. The first round of trials was used to test the "reliability of the flattop's power and propulsion systems". The Dead Sea (Hebrew: יָם הַמֶּלַח About this sound Yam ha-Melah lit. Sea of Salt; Arabic: البحر الميت‎ About this sound Al-Bahr al-Mayyit is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. Its surface and shores are 430.5 metres (1,412 ft) below sea level,Earth's lowest elevation on land. The Dead Sea is 304 m (997 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. With a salinity of 342 g/kg, or 34.2%, (in 2011), it is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean and one of the world's saltiest bodies of water. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which plants and animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea's main, northern basin is 50 kilometres (31 mi) long and 15 kilometres (9 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years. It was one of the world's first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from asphalt for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilisers. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets. The Dead Seawater has a density of 1.24 kg/litre, which makes swimming similar to floating. The Dead Sea is receding at an alarming rate. Multiple canals and pipelines were proposed to reduce its recession, which had begun causing many problems. The Red Sea–Dead Sea Water Conveyance project, carried out by Jordan, will provide water to neighbouring countries, while the brine will be carried to the Dead Sea to help stabilise its levels. The first phase of the project is scheduled to begin in 2018 and be completed in 2021 source: Wikipedia

The Ourang Medan In 1947 (or, 1948, according to some accounts), a disturbing distress call was picked up by two American ships at British, and Dutch listening posts in the Strait of Malacca. The message said, “All officers including captain are lying in chartroom and bridge. Possibly whole crew.” This was followed by a burst of indecipherable Morse code, then a final, grim message The men at the listening posts triangulated the message and determined it came from a Dutch freighter vessel called the Ourang Medan. A conscripted American vessel named the Silver Star was dispatched on a rescue mission. The rescuers entered a living nightmare. After hailing the Ourang Medan and receiving no reply, they boarded the vessel. Corpses littered the decks, all of them with the same terrified expression and their arms reaching out as if grappling with an unseen assailant. Even the ship’s dog was, its mouth curled in a snarl. As they investigated, finding even more corpses in the boiler room, the rescuers made a strange observation. Despite it being over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the air in the lowest part of the hold was extremely cold. None of the sailors could explain the phenomenon. They also couldn’t find any damage done to the ship itself. The crew of the Silver Star decided to tow the Ourang Medan back to port. However, as soon as they finished fastening the tow line, they saw smoke boiling up from the lower decks, specifically from the Number 4 hold. The boarding party barely had time to cut the tow line and return to the Silver Star before an explosion ripped through the vessel. The explosion was so strong, it actually lifted the ship out of the water before it disappeared below the waters of the Strait of Malacca. One theory as to what happened on the Ourang Medan is that it carried some form of nerve gas that escaped, everyone and causing the explosion. It doesn’t account for the strange cold down below, however. At any rate, we will probably never know for sure what happened. 9. The Carroll A. Deering In August 1920, the Carroll A. Deering set sail from Norfolk, Virginia with an experienced captain and a crew of 10 men bound for Rio de Janeiro with a cargo of coal. Its original captain, William H. Merritt, fell ill shortly after departure and was replaced by Captain W. B. Wormell. Despite this sudden change, the ship delivered its cargo on schedule and set sail to return in December. So far so good! Captain Jacobson aboard the Cape Lookout Lightship in North Carolina sighted the vessel bound for its home port on January 29, 1921. The Carroll A. Deering hailed the lightship and reported that the ship had lost its anchors. Captain Jacobson took note, but couldn’t report it because his radio was out. He later described the crew of the Carroll A. Deering "milling around" suspiciously on the fore deck of the ship. Two days later, the schooner was seen stuck on Diamond Shoals, a treacherous stretch of water. Rough waters kept anyone from reaching the wreck until February 4, when rescuers discovered the Carroll A. Deering to be abandoned. Two lifeboats, personal belongings, key navigational equipment, some papers, and the ship’s anchors were also missing. Despite an investigation by the fledgling FBI, no trace of the crew or the ship’s logs were ever recovered. 8. The Octavius In 1761, a ship named The Octavius departed London loaded with cargo bound for China. It reached its destination and took on another load for the return trip. By then, it was 1762. The captain decided to take advantage of unusually warm weather and risk an attempt through the Northwest Passage. Even though no one had been able to navigate it successfully yet. No one saw the Octavius for thirteen years and people assumed it succumbed to the Arctic. On October 11, 1775 the whaling ship The Herald, while working in waters west of Greenland, spotted a ship drifting along. They boarded her only to find the entire crew below decks frozen solid. The captain sat at his desk in his cabin, frozen stiff with pen in hand apparently in the middle of a log entry. The ship was The Octavius. According to the last log entry, dated 1762, the captain’s chance at conquering the Northwest Passage had failed and the ship was locked in ice. FINALLY: China’s Type 001A aircraft carrier may go into service within months.
If the warship does enter service in April, it will have made faster progress than China’s first and only operational aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, which was handed over 13½ months after its maiden voyage. It is the first aircraft carrier designed and built in China, and it returned to the shipyard on Tuesday after spending 13 days off the northeast coast in the Yellow Sea – the longest trial so far, according to Chinese media reports. The Type 001A, which has yet to be named, was believed to have carried out a range of complex tests during the latest trial, and Beijing-based military expert Li Jie said the testing was nearly finished. It will have a full displacement of 70,000 tonnes and will be able to carry 32 J-15 fighter jets – more than the Liaoning’s 26. The 315-metre-long (1,033 feet) ship is steam-turbine powered and has a ski-jump deck for take-offs. ------------------------------------------------------------- #China’sType001A #aircraftcarrier
