What is Schema in SQL Server & How to Create or Drop Schema - SQL Server / T-SQL Tutorial Part 27

12:43
SQL Server / TSQL Tutorial : What is Schema in SQL Server & How to Create or Drop Schema Link to the script used in the video http://www.techbrothersit.com/2016/02/what-is-schema-in-sql-server-and-how-to.html What is Schema : As per Microsoft website : A Schema is distinct namespace to facilitate the separation, management, and ownership of database objects. How to create Schema by GUI: Open the SSMS and you will be going to Database as Schema are objects in the database. Go to Security and then Go to Schema and Right Click and Choose New Schema as shown below. Now you need to provide the Schema name. I used TB as Schema Name and I left the Schema Owner empty, that means that dbo will be owner for this schema. If you would like to choose owner, you can hit search and provide the owner of schema. Create Schema by using TSQL : To create Schema in Database with default owner that is dbo, you can use below script. --DatabaseName=TechBrothersIT USE [TechBrothersIT] GO --Create Schema Name =TB CREATE SCHEMA [TB] GO Let's say If I have a user in TechbrothersIT Database with name [aamir] and I would like to create Schema TB with owner name =[aamir]. I can use below script. --Database Name = TechBrothersIT USE [TechBrothersIT] GO --Create Schema TB with owner name =Aamir ( Database User) CREATE SCHEMA [TB] AUTHORIZATION [aamir] GO How to Drop Schema from SQL Server Database: We can also use TSQL Script to drop the Schema from a SQL Server Database. In below example, I am deleting TB Schema from TechBrothersIT Database. --Database Name = TechBrothersIT USE [TechBrothersIT] go --Drop Schema TB Drop Schema [TB] Check out our website for Different SQL Server, MSBI tutorials and interview questions such as SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) Tutorial SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) Tutorial SQL Server DBA Tutorial SQL Server / TSQL Tutorial ( Beginner to Advance) http://www.techbrothersit.com/

MCITP 70-640: Operators Master Role Placement Global catalog

12:20
Check out http://YouTube.com/ITFreeTraining or http://itfreetraining.com for more of our always free training videos. In Active Directory there are five operations master roles known as FSMO roles. This video looks at which Domain Controllers you should put these roles on and also which Domain Controllers you should make into Global Catalog Servers. There are five operations master roles. The Schema and Domain Naming Masters are forest wide so there will only one of each of these roles regardless of how many domains you have in your forest. The PDC Emulator, RID Master and Infrastructure Master are domain wide. There will always be 3 operations master roles per domain, one of each. When considering where to put the operations master roles, you should consider the availability of the operations role and what effect not having the operations master role available during an outage will have on your network. Schema Master (Forest wide) The Schema Master is generally found in the root domain in a multiple domain environment. On most networks it will not be used that often. For this reason availability is not a big issue so for ease of administration it will often be put on the same Domain Controller that has the Domain Naming Master. The Schema Master operations master role is not affected whether the Domain Controller is a Global Catalog Server or not. Domain Naming Master (Forest wide) The Domain Naming Master is required when domains are added or removed from the forest. It does require Global Catalog calls when domains are added or removed. For this reason it is recommended to make it a Global Catalog Server. However, this will not affect operations if it is not. PDC Emulator The PDC Emulator has the final say on authentication. For this reason the PDC Emulator will generally be placed on the network with the most users. The PDC Emulator can be made a Global Catalog Server; however, administrators will often remove the Global Catalog from the PDC Emulator if performance on the PDC Emulator becomes a problem. RID Master The RID Master allocates blocks of RIDs. For this reason it does not have to be on the fastest Domain Controller or on the fastest link. Domain Controllers will request RIDs before they run out. The PDC Emulator generally uses more RIDs than other Domain Controllers on the network and thus a lot of administrators will place the RID operations master role on the same Domain Controller that is holding the PDC Emulator. Whether the Domain Controller is a Global Catalog Server or not does not affect the operation of the RID Master. Infrastructure Master The Infrastructure Master role tracks references in multi-domain environments. In a single domain network the Infrastructure operations master role is not that important. In a multi-domain environment the role of the Infrastructure Master becomes more important. The choice of whether to make this a Global Catalog Server or not can affect its ability to keep cross domain reference up to date. If you have Windows Server 2000 or 2003 Domain Controllers on your network, you need to ensure the Infrastructure Master is not a Global Catalog Server or all your Domain Controllers on the network will become Global Catalog Servers. In a pure Windows Server 2008 environment, it does not matter whether you make the Domain Controller a Global Catalog Server or not. Disadvantages of making a Domain Controller a Global Catalog Server Making a Domain Controller a Global Catalog Server will increase the amount of hard disk space that it requires and also the amount of network bandwidth that it will use. Nowadays it is not as big of a concern as it was when Windows Server 2000 came out. Global Catalog Servers are also used by clients to perform searches and to look up objects. This can increase the load on the Domain Controller.

DNS and Active Directory Partitions

17:12
This video looks at how DNS data is stored in Active Directory Integrated zones and how it is replicated about the domain or forest. Once you have finished watching this video you will understand how this DNS data is stored in Active Directory and how you can configure the replication of this data at the domain and forest level. Download the PDF handout http://ITFreeTraining.com/handouts/dns/dns-adpartitions.pdf Active Directory Partitions The Active Directory database may be hierarchy in nature but essentially it is a database stored in a single file name NTDS.DIT. Like a drive that may be divided in multiple parts, the Active Directory database is divided in multiple partitions. This is done for organization and replications needs. For example, certain partitions are configured to be replicated at the domain level while other partitions are configured to be replicated at the forest level. Application Directory Partitions This partition is used to store data from applications. This is different from the other partitions as there can be as many or few as required. Since Microsoft DNS server has data that needs to be stored and replicated around the domain or forest, this is a good choice for an application partition. DNS uses application partitions to store the data from Active Directory Integrated zones. Once stored in the application partition, like any other partition in the Active Directory database it is replicated to the required Domain Controllers using the Active Directory replication system. Demonstration Active Directory Service Interfaces Editor (ADSI Edit) is a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) editor that allows modification for the objects and attributes in Active Directory. 1) The ADSIEdit tool is a tool that allows the administrator to see the data stored in the Active Directory database. Unlike other Active Directory tools, this provides a raw method and thus if you use this tool to make changes, changes should be made very carefully. ADSIEdit is found in Administrative Tools under the start menu or in the control panel. If you are using a client operating system like Windows 8, you will need to install remote server administration tools (RAST). 2) To connect to an Active Directory database, right click ADSIEdit and select the option connect to. There are a lot of different options in here. Under the option "select a well known naming context" you can select common partitions, for example Default naming context, configuration, RootDSE and schema. In this particular case I will connect to the configuration partition that contains forest wide configuration information for Active Directory. This partition itself does not contain any DNS data, however it does list the application partitions that are currently being used and thus gives us a better understanding of DNS stored data in Active Directory. 3) To see what partitions are currently configured in Active Directory, expand down through configuration down to partitions. 4) In the partition container there should be entries for the standard partition types Enterprise Configuration, Enterprise Schema and a domain partitions which will be named after your domain. If you have multiple domains, there will be one partition for each domain. Unlike the other partitions which will have a friendly name associated with it, each application partition will have a unique id associated with it in the form of a random appearing string of characters. MCITP 70-640: Active Directory forest and trees

08:09
Active Directory has forests and trees which are ways of representing multiple domains. Check out http://YouTube.com/ITFreeTraining or http://itfreetraining.com for more of our always free training videos. This video looks at how domains sharing the same namespace are considered a tree. Domains in separate namespaces are considered separate trees in the same forest. Tree When you have multiple domains in the same namespace (e.g., ITFreeTraining.com, west.ITFreeTraining.com, and sales.ITFreeTraining.com), they are considered to be in the same tree. The tree also supports multiple levels of domains. For example, you could have west.sales.ITFreeTraining.com and east.ITFreeTraining.com in the same tree. Forest A forest is a collection of one or more domains which may have one or more trees. What makes a forest unique is that it shares the same schema. The schema defines what and how Active Directory objects are stored. The schema defines the database for the whole forest but it should be remembered that each domain in the forest has its own copy of the database based on the schema. Trusts Parent and child domains are automatically linked by a trust. Users in different domains can use these trusts to access resources in another domain assuming that they have access. Trees in the forest are linked together via a trust automatically. This ensures that any users in any domain in the forest can access any resource in the forest to which they have access. Global Catalog In order for users to find resources in any domain in the forest (remember that each domain has a separate database), Domain Controllers can be made into Global Catalog Servers. A Global Catalog Server contains partial information about every object in the forest. Using this information, the user can conduct searches.

How to create a living SQL Server data catalog, Richard Macaskill,

55:41
Protecting data can be difficult. With data often spread across a growing number of different environments, it's hard to know what to restrict and where it's located. This risks non-compliance, and leaves organizations open to data breaches. Article 30 of the GDPR (Records of processing activities), requires organisations to not just “maintain a record of processing activities” but also to “make the record available to the supervisory authority on request.” But it doesn’t tell you how. In this session you’ll learn about practical steps you can take to create a durable and living record of what you hold in your SQL estate.

MCITP 70-640: Seizing roles

16:35
Active Directory has five operational master roles that can be transferred from domain controller to domain controller as required. Check out http://itfreetraining.com or http://youtube.com/ITFreeTraining for more of our always free training videos. In some cases the role may not be able to be transferred; for example, if the hardware on the domain controller was to fail, a transfer cannot be made. When this occurs, the operational master role must be seized. This video looks at how to seize an operational master role, clean up the Active Directory database afterwards, and recover a server that has had an operational master role seized. Demo seizing the role 04:40 Demo cleaning up the Active Directory database 08:55 Demo removing Active Directory from a recovered server 14:04 What is an operational master role? See our operational master role video for more information. http://itfreetraining.com/70-640/oper... Impact of missing operational master role Seizing an operational master role from a failed server is a drastic step. Once complete, the domain controller can not be started back up on the network. Before seizing the operational master role, first consider the effect the missing operational master role will have as listed below. Schema master: If this role is missing then changes will not be able to be made to the Active Directory schema. The schema defines the design of the Active Directory database. If you are not planning on making changes to the structure of the Active Directory database this role could be off line indefinitely. Domain Naming Master: This is required when adding/removing domains. If you are not adding or removing domains the Domain Naming Operational Master Role could be offline indefinitely. Relative ID Master: Otherwise known as RID master, it allocates RID's to Domain Controllers. These are used to create Active Directory objects. Without RID's Domain Controllers cannot create new objects. RID's are allocated in pools so a domain controller will not run out quickly unless a lot of Active Directory objects are created at once. PDC Emulator: A PDC emulator is considered the final authority on password authentication. If the PDC emulator is down, a user may experience problems logging in just after a password change. Short outage should not be problem but it is recommended to try to recover the domain controller holding the PDC emulator quickly if it fails. Infrastructure master: In a single domain/forest environment, a missing infrastructure master will not cause any problems. In a multiple domain environment, this will only cause problems if none of your domain controllers are global catalog servers. If this is the case, cross domain objects may not be updated correctly when changed. Seizing a role Seizing a role is considered a last resort and once completed the domain controller that was holding that operational master role will not be able to be started back up on the network again. A domain controller that can have an operational master role transferred or seized is often referred to as a standby operational master. In order to seize an operational master role, you need to run the command NTDSUtil from the command prompt. Once inside the tool, run the following commands. roles connections connect to server (Domain controller role will be seized by) quit Seize PDC|RID master|schema master|infrastructure master|naming master Removing Domain Controller Configuration Once you seize the operational master role, the configure data for that domain controller will still exist in Active Directory. This can be removed by performing the following steps. Run NTDSUtil from the command prompt metadata cleanup connect to server (any domain controller) quit select operational target list domain select domain (your domain number shown in list domain) list sites select site (your site number shown in list sites) list servers in site select server (your server number shown in list servers in site) quit Remove selected server Quit NTDSUtil Run Active Directory Sites and Services from administrative tools Find the record for your failed domain controller. It should not have domain listed next to its name. Press delete to delete the record. Reusing a failed server If you have seized an operational master role from a domain controller and later recover the domain controller, Active Directory will need to be removed from the domain controller before it can be added and reused on the domain. This can be done with the following step. Make sure the server is not connected to the network. From the command line run DCPromo /ForceRemoval

SQL Tutorial 2: Create Database

13:06
The video presents on how to create database in IBM DB2 Express-C Server. The SQL commands used here are not limited to DB2. A specific set of SQL commands are standardized to able also server machines can communicate to each other no matter it is in DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Informix, MySQL, and other relational database management systems (RDBMS). It starts with the definition of a database and what particular objects you can place inside it. These include schema, sequence, table, views, stored procedure, user-defined functions (UDF) that are mostly present inside a database system. How do you connect or use a database is included in the video. It explains what is a schema and the default schema is used by DB2. You can create your own schema and include inside your database. Set the schema first to avoid repeating or including it as you type you SQL scripts. The same is true when you are working with views, stored procedures, and user defined functions (UDF). It explains also on how to create a table inside a database. Set the primary keys and data types of columns. Primary key set uniqueness of a row instance. This is somehow limits any duplicate entry of a particular code, data in one column or set of columns (composite key). The video cites an example to check how a primary key works. This tutorial shows the use of INSERT INTO command. This is how to insert or place record/row in a table. You may insert one set of row or multiple of rows in one INSERT INTO command.

How to troubleshoot and fix Active Directory replication issues on Windows Server 2012 R2

32:09
Support NLB Solutions - https://www.patreon.com/NLBSolutions In this video I am going to show you an issue with my Active Directory replication between my two DCs and how I managed to resolve it. Tips and tricks for demoting a DC: 1. Always try graceful removal 1st, if you are not able to gracefully remove the DC proceed with Force Removal. 2. If you are performing a Forceful removal disconnect your DC in order to prevent corruption on your working DC. 3. Perform matadata cleanup from AD Users and Computers, DNS and AD Sites and Services when possible. If not you can proceed with ntdsutil /metadatacleanup. 4. After promotion leave the DCs to "talk" to each other in order to replicate all AD info.

Getting Started with AWS Glue ETL

06:24
AWS Glue is a fully managed extract, transform, and load (ETL) service that makes it easy for customers to prepare and load their data for analytics. Learn more at http://amzn.to/2G8J5IG. You can create and run an ETL job with a few clicks in the AWS Management Console. You simply point AWS Glue to your data stored on AWS, and AWS Glue discovers your data and stores the associated metadata (e.g. table definition and schema) in the AWS Glue Data Catalog. Once cataloged, your data is immediately searchable, queryable, and available for ETL. AWS Glue generates the code to execute your ETL data transformations and data loading processes. The code is customizable, reusable, and portable. Once your ETL job is ready, you can schedule it to run on AWS Glue's fully managed, scale-out Apache Spark environment. AWS Glue provides a flexible scheduler with dependency resolution, job monitoring, and alerting.

DDL Triggers in sql server

12:31
ddl trigger example ddl trigger example in sql server ddl triggers can be used to In this video we will discuss DDL Triggers in sql server. In SQL Server there are 4 types of triggers 1. DML Triggers - Data Manipulation Language. Discussed in Parts 43 to 47 of SQL Server Tutorial. 2. DDL Triggers - Data Definition Language 3. CLR triggers - Common Language Runtime 4. Logon triggers What are DDL triggers DDL triggers fire in response to DDL events - CREATE, ALTER, and DROP (Table, Function, Index, Stored Procedure etc...). For the list of all DDL events please visit https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522542.aspx Certain system stored procedures that perform DDL-like operations can also fire DDL triggers. Example - sp_rename system stored procedure What is the use of DDL triggers If you want to execute some code in response to a specific DDL event To prevent certain changes to your database schema Audit the changes that the users are making to the database structure Syntax for creating DDL trigger CREATE TRIGGER [Trigger_Name] ON [Scope (Server|Database)] FOR [EventType1, EventType2, EventType3, ...], AS BEGIN -- Trigger Body END DDL triggers scope : DDL triggers can be created in a specific database or at the server level. The following trigger will fire in response to CREATE_TABLE DDL event. Use SampleDB Go CREATE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'New table created' END To check if the trigger has been created 1. In the Object Explorer window, expand the SampleDB database by clicking on the plus symbol. 2. Expand Programmability folder 3. Expand Database Triggers folder Please note : If you can't find the trigger that you just created, make sure to refresh the Database Triggers folder. When you execute the following code to create the table, the trigger will automatically fire and will print the message - New table created Create Table Test (Id int) The above trigger will be fired only for one DDL event CREATE_TABLE. If you want this trigger to be fired for multiple events, for example when you alter or drop a table, then separate the events using a comma as shown below. ALTER TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'A table has just been created, modified or deleted' END Now if you create, alter or drop a table, the trigger will fire automatically and you will get the message - A table has just been created, modified or deleted. The 2 DDL triggers above execute some code in response to DDL events (CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE). Now let us look at an example of how to prevent users from creating, altering or dropping tables. To do this modify the trigger as shown below. ALTER TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE AS BEGIN Rollback Print 'You cannot create, alter or drop a table' END To be able to create, alter or drop a table, you either have to disable or delete the trigger. To disable trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Disable" from the context menu 2. You can also disable the trigger using the following T-SQL command DISABLE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE To enable trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Enable" from the context menu 2. You can also enable the trigger using the following T-SQL command ENABLE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE To drop trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Delete" from the context menu 2. You can also drop the trigger using the following T-SQL command DROP TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE Certain system stored procedures that perform DDL-like operations can also fire DDL triggers. The following trigger will be fired when ever you rename a database object using sp_rename system stored procedure. CREATE TRIGGER trRenameTable ON DATABASE FOR RENAME AS BEGIN Print 'You just renamed something' END The following code changes the name of the TestTable to NewTestTable. When this code is executed, it will fire the trigger trRenameTable sp_rename 'TestTable', 'NewTestTable' The following code changes the name of the Id column in NewTestTable to NewId. When this code is executed, it will fire the trigger trRenameTable sp_rename 'NewTestTable.Id' , 'NewId', 'column' Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/ddl-triggers-in-sql-server.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/ddl-triggers-in-sql-server_9.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists
