In this video I’m going to share with you how to walk with confidence like a male model.
Weather it's for a job interview, approaching a girl at the bar. You my friend need to walk with confidence. Good news for you, I happen to be in the only line of work I can think of that confident walking is a requirement. In today's video, I’m going to teach you everything you need to know to walk with confidence.
Let's Roll that intro
The first thing you need to understand is confidence is a mindset. It starts in your mind and works its way out. If you are feeling scared, intimidated it will show up in your body language. That’s why they call it body Language. You are communicating with your body the unspoken truth. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to have that confidence I want you to try something that might seem a little strange but it works.
This tip is well researched by social sienticed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks-_Mh1QhMc Amy Cuddy. If you change your posture for 2 min it will impact how you feel inside. So go to the bathroom lock the door and stand like a superman, it’s called a power pose. Yeah this sounds silly but it really works. Give it a try.
Once your head is in the right place next is your technique. I see this all the time on the runway, well less on the runway but more in the audition room. Guys that have the confidence but walk like a peacock or worse yet a victoria secret model (picture with Alisandra and one of her walking) and or just off. To walk with confidence is kind of an odd blend of looking effortless yet being aware of how you are walking.
The first part you want to look at is your shoulders/posture. Most of us have really bad posture from working in front of a computer most of the day. And walking with bad posture is one of the most attractive and communicates a lack of confidence. Roll your shoulders back, kind of try and pinch your shoulder blades together. Don’t go over the top like a marching soldier but roll them back like confident upright man.
Second let's look at your arms. Now that your shoulders are back this mostly takes care of your arms as they will be a bit further back and by your sides. Don’t swing them around, or put them on your hips or imitate anything you think you have seen from runway models. Simple is best with this just let them move naturally with the rhythm of your body and really avoid adding any swing to them at all. I guess it's a bit intuitive to really get your arms moving while you are trying to walk with confidence. But remember, think effortless, natural confidence.
Next let's look at your legs. Let me start with what not to do. again for some reason when you tell a guy to walk with confidence they can tend to imitate female runway models. One thing that female models to is cross their feet over each other as if they are walking on a line of 2X4’s. They do that because it's feminine and you shouldn’t do that. Nor should you walk like you with huge steps like your in a race. Your steps should be roughly shoulder with apart and a normal stride length.
Finally let's talk about your head and face. When you are walking keep your eyes up, make eye contact with people. And when they look back at you. Smile. That is really simple but it's probably if not the most important one of the most important items on the list.
Caboom! Everything you need to know to walk confident like a model.
