MLP:FiM Background Music: Theme Song (Instrumental Version)

00:35
This is the intro theme song for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with the vocals removed. This was done by taking the surround left and right channels from the 5.1 mix. I know there are some people who skip the intro due to its cheesiness (HOW DARE YOU) and "My little pony, my little pony ahhh ahhhh ahhhhhhh" so now you can listen to it... without words? "Friendship is the Key" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

04:16
"Friendship is the Key" BGM from the episode "Twilight's Kingdom — Part 2" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E26). --Overall Comments-- From a very intense villain, to a twisting story, to being beautifully storyboarded and animated, to absolutely God-like songs and score, to an all-out DBZ-style fighting sequence. So far, this is Friendship is Magic's crowning achievement. This season has been different in many ways, including it's overarching continuity. While the majority of the season had fairly individual and "slice of life" episodes, Meghan McCarthy and her team have managed to interweave an overarching plot into them, making almost seemingly unrelated episodes come together. It was fantastic watching all of the callbacks and references to events and characters from this season, and how those individual moments each contributed to something much larger. This episode had hands-down some of the best music of the series, both songs and score. Daniel Ingram only provides two songs for this two-parter, but they surely fill the void of 10 songs. From the princesses, including Luna (!!), singing a song which I can only describe as "Godlike", to the fantastic finale song, Ingram, Steffan Andrews, and their team absolutely nailed it. And we cannot forget the music which takes up the majority of the episode: William Anderson's superb score—some of his best work! I wasn't sure if he would top his score from the season 4 premiere , but he delivered and then some. Not only did he hit on all of the reoccurring themes throughout the season, but he "plussed" them so much it was amazing—Please see the episode's crowning-BGM "Friendship is the Key." I'll be sure to point out as many musical callbacks and meanings as I can in the tracks' descriptions below! Enjoy, and see you for Equestria Girls 2! --Track Specific Comments-- Here is the episode's magnum opus, and the conclusion of the "...is the Key" track collection. Here, Twilight realizes that the magic of friendship is even greater than that of the alicorns, and after teaching a lesson about friendship to Discord, and receiving a gift from him in return, rushes off the box to see if it will unlock it. The Mane 6 are able to open the box,, unleashing the "Rainbow Power" allowing the Mane 6 to come together and defeat Tirek once and for all. Also, Twilight gets a Crystal Treehouse Castle. I say this is this episode's, and possibly William Anderson's magnum opus because this track is just that good. As the rainbow shimmer shines across all of the Mane 5, Spike, and Discord's bubble prisons, and Twilight's eyes rainbow-gleam, we get a choir-driven motif which is based off of the "Six Locks, Six Keys" theme, which is the one which has appeared during the similar scenes in every key episode this season. Here it's a little different a more epic to compliment the weight of what is happening in Twilight's mind. Next, we get an absolutely beautiful theme as Twilight reunites with her friends, and receives the gift from Discord. The score becomes more grand as they return to the Tree of Harmony and the box, becoming more tense as Tirek approaches. And here's something we haven't heard for a while—a full-on epic orchestration of the My Little Pony theme. Making that theme sound this magnificent is no easy feat, and William Anderson accomplishes it brilliantly. This is something we heard a lot of in the season 1 premiere e, and having it reprised here beautifully ties the entire series together. The BGM then shift to a reprise of one of the main themes of the season, which we've heard in this two-parter before, "Princess Twilight's Theme." This theme first appeared at the very end of the Season 4 opener "Princess Twilight Sparkle" as Twilight participated in the Summer Sun Celebration. Here it appears in an amazing extended form from it's original incarnation as Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 travel with their Rainbow Power undoing the damaging Tirek has caused on Equestria. As Twilight's castle is revealed, we get a short reprise of a motif we've heard before this season, but I can remember where right now. MLP:FiM Background Music - Rarity's Fashion Show

02:01
This is the awesome background instrumental soundtrack from Rarity's (successful) fashion show at the end of episode 14 "Suited for Success" of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The speech couldn't be 100% removed, so that's why you can still sort of hear Hoity Toity's flabbergasted blabbering at some points. I did this by removing the center voice channel from the 5.1 surround mix. Also, the LFE (low frequency) channel is awesome in this, turn up the bass! MLP:FiM Background Music: The Cutie Mark Crusaders Go Crusading

03:06
This is the catchy background music for the montage where the Cutie Mark Crusaders attempt to brute-force their way to getting their cutie marks. There is another version of this here on YT but it still has all the sound effects in it. This time, the instrumental music was ripped by Senn555 with no sound effects - thanks!! (There are still a few sound effects that are impossible to remove due to the way they're embedded in the audio, but they're like 99% gone) Taken from S1E18 "The Show Stoppers" of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. "Luna's Banishment Suite" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

02:56
"Luna's Banishment Suite" BGM from the episode "Princess Twilight Sparkle, pt 2" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E02). --Overall Comments-- Here it is! SEASON FOUR! It's been a long wait, but boy was it worth it! This episode delivered, especially in the music department. The lack of songs was balanced out by some of William Anderson's best, most emotional, and motif-filled work for the series to-date. This season is shaping up to be a fantastic, yet fresh one. On an overall rip quality note: this episode was extremely well-mixed sound-wise overall compared to season 3. The use of all the surround channels to deliver immersion is much more grand. This makes the episode sound exceptional, but does make the BGM ripping process more of a challenge. I removed as much talking and sound effects as I could, but many invade all the channels (I'm looking at you growing vines!), and the echoes in the many inside scenes cannot be removed. Overall the rips turned out pretty well, though! --Track Specific Comments-- This. This might be my favorite BGM from the series so far. It's hard to top the ending music to "Return of Harmony," but the amount of emotion contained here is incredible. We start out with the intense theme we heard at the ending of last episode, allowing us to pick up right were we left off. When Celestia appears on screen, the musical feels begin. When she first confronts Luna, the motif there is very similar to Luna's theme from "'Silly Sleep' / Princess Luna / 'It's A Horse Without a Head!'" from "Sleepless in Ponyville." We then enter an epic battle scene between the sisters unlike anything we've seen from the series thus far. I do want to quickly comment on the lack of BGM during the next part, where Twilight is crying over Celestia's body. While music can evoke strong emotions, sometimes the lack of it can do even more. It was a fantastic choice by the show staff and Anderson to leave this part silent, so we can only hear Twilight and nothing else. It hit me like a train, and is definitely the darkest moment of the series thus far. However, Celestia recovers and realizes she needs to wield the Elements of Harmony to defeat her sister. When Twilight realizes that this is actually a vision of the past, the BGM in the background is definitely Luna's theme from "Sleepless in Ponyville" as I mentioned above. And then we get to what might have been my favorite part of the episode--Celestia banishing Luna to the moon. First off, the tear in her eye as she did so brought some to mine. Another small touch by the staff that goes a long way. What really drove the emotions home though was the reprise of "Celestia's Lament" from part 1, but with a much more monumental and filled-out feeling with the entire orchestra taking up the theme. That alone made this episode for me. (Watch in 1080p!) First I'd like to apologize for taking so long with new songs, I've been quite busy with a lot of non-pony stuff this past year, I've done some traveling and had some changes in my personal life, so composing has been pretty down on the priority list most of the time. On top of that, I picked what turned out to be by far the most challenging song yet, and while I had fun creating it, the amount of work I had to put into it was maybe just a tad too much for me, so I'm considering making my next songs a little bit less complex from now on. Speaking of next songs, I already have plans for a Luna themed one so many of you have been asking for, so that should come out relatively soon. After that I hope there will be plenty of Season 4 songs or background music already to choose from. Oh, and i've also become obsessed with the new movie Frozen (It's really no wonder given my Tangled obsession few years back), so I might come up with something inspired by that too, or perhaps how would a musical MLP-Frozen crossover sound, hm? But back to The Return of Harmony. The song is inspired by multiple pieces of background music from the eponymous episode. Most notably by the final scene and credits theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvfA0SmqJOQ). And the "restoration of the elements" theme (http://youtu.be/H6g15JroPow?t=2m47s). Some bits of the arrangement are also inspired by Howard Shore's phenomenal score for The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It just can't get much more epic than this, folks. Oh and I apologize for such an excessive use of a solo flute, but I just love the sound, so, yeah^^. And that's it for now, enjoy the rest of the holidays and see you next year! "Transformation" / "The Magic of Friendship" - My Little Pony: Equestria Girls BGM

04:06
"Transformation" / "The Magic of Friendship" BGM from the movie "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls" based on the television show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Well, here we are: Equestria Girls! I'll preface this by saying the movie surprised me. I went in with low expectations (I never was a fan of the obvious corporate concept), and came out entertained. It was fun, and while not amazing, it was by no means bad, or even mediocre. Plus, the songs and BGM were all FANTASTIC and top-quality. I'll note that if you are for some reason not a fan of "pop" music, you probably won't be thrilled with the songs in the movie. But you've gotta admit the quality and production of them is great. And here's another big one, this one at just over 4 minutes. This is the BGM for the Transformation scene, as well as the conclusion of the battle scene when the Mane 6 defeat Sunset Shimmer. This starts out with an interesting instrumental remix of the My Little Pony Theme...remix from the opening credits of the movie. This one has some strings overlaying the instrumental mix. It's interesting to see William Anderson composing around, and perhaps on top of, Daniel Ingram's song instrumental. If you just was the instrumental of the Theme Song remix, I suggest seeing the video for just that in the playlist linked further down in the description, which is much higher quality anyway since I didn't have to work around Twilight saying the elements. After the transformation remix, we go back into a full, grand orchestration for the final defeat of Sunset Shimmer. I love the theme that begins at 2:30. It's one of the more emotional themes I've heard from this series. Enjoy! (Watch in HD!) MLP:FiM Background Music - Sonic Rainboom

This is the BGM from the scene where Rainbow Dash saves Rarity and does her Sonic Rainboom. The music is a cool orchestral/rock hybrid here. "Learning Differently" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:19
Learning Differently" BGM from the episode "Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E21). --Overall Comments-- Amy Keating Rogers with one of the best episodes of the season, everyone! Rainbow Dash is set to join the Wonderbolts Reserves, but she must first pass a test on their history. But learning appears to be so un-Rainbow! Twilight and the rest of her friends must quickly find a way to aid Rainbow learn all of the mundane details of the Wonderbolts' history to help her pass! This episode had everything going for it— a character-driven story with a main focus on two characters, fantastic comedy, and stunning animation. The premise and lesson were good, and the pairing of Rainbow Dash and Twilight provided for some excellent situations. The animation was absolutely breathtaking—from the shadows, to all the different wing animations, to the ending scene's forward 3D pan through the town. It's great to see the animators trying new things. And speaking of new things...we can't glance over Pinkie's rap. Firstly, the animation was superb here too, such as Pinkie's movements. But it's more than just that: To add to the already absurd nature of this scene, they put a nice VHS tape filter on it, and shot the scene in the 4:3 aspect ratio. That, and the early-90s nature of the backdrops, and you've got comedy gold. And of course you've gotta love the actual rap: a parody of the many, many terrible educational videos of the 90s which tried to appeal to kids with cringe-inducing rap numbers. This scene emulates those, as well as actual rap videos from the late-80s/early-90s to a T. I never thought's we'd have this musical style in the FiM series, but Amy Keating Roger and William Anderson really pulled it off for comedy here! William Anderson and team also deliver with the rest of the episode's BGM, introducing some fantastic and emotional new tracks throughout the episode—especially the last few tracks! --Track Specific Comments-- And now for the highlight track for the episode! Twilight tells Rainbow Dash how their friends and Ponyville helped her to learn while flying. This original track is all sorts of amazing, and it's definitely one of the more "beautiful" tracks from the series. It definitely has a "season 1" feel to it, using more simple instruments such a piano and glockenspiel, adding some strings in as we go along, leading up to a fantastic emotional climax with a crescendo and some percussion. Mixed with the amazing visuals on screen, this piece help lead to a great emotional peak scene for the episode. I do have to mention the 3D forward truck through the part of Ponyville was some of the most impressive stuff we've seen from DHX and Top Draw yet! (Watch in 1080p!) "Blame Grid" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:25
"Blame Grid" BGM from the episode "Bats!" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E07). --Overall Comments-- Well this was an interesting episode. What seemed to be a simple episode about a disagreement between friends with different views turned into a full-on dark and scary later Halloween episode! With Flutterbat taking most of the spotlight, its easy to forget about the rest of the episode. There's some great creepy BGM, and of course the second song of the season! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight explains to the other girls what happened through a magic, very Tron-like, display. And of course that wouldn't be complete without some electronic Tron-like music! This was probably the highlight of the BGM in this episode for me--it's definitely different than the BGM we've heard in the series before. Plus, I always like it when a parody is not only shown in the visuals, but in the audio too. After listening to it some more, It also reminds me of some of the Portal 2 music. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Magic of Friendship Prevails” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:10
“The Magic of Friendship Previals“ from the episode “The Mean 6“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E13). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- In the season 8 mid-season finale, Chrysalis returns to exact her revenge on Starlight Glimmer. Creating nasty clones on the Mane 6, she hopes to destroy their friendships so Starlight loses her friends. Chrysalis’ return also harkens a return of her score and instrumentation, which we’ve heard for her since her original appearance at the end of season 2. Also, since the episode is focused upon the strength of the friendships of the Mane 6, William Anderson fittingly brings back the classic “Magic of Friendship” motif which has been with the show since season 3, and used extensively since then. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The Mane 6 and Starlight, despite the Mean 6's best attempts, put their friendships first and forgive each other for the stuff they didn't do. For this friendship moment, William Anderson dusts off the "Magic of Friendship" leitmotif, which was a mainstay for the series from seasons 3 to 5, although only being used sparingly since. We last heard this theme last season in "Fame and Misfortune," which delved into the Friendship Journal from season 4, where the theme was used most prominently. In this track, we hear a longer string of variations on the main motif at the beginning, with a short reprise at the end as well. (Watch in 1080p!) “3 Days Later” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:25
“3 Days Later” BGM from the episode “A Health of Information” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E20). --Overall Comments-- In an academy record second appearance in a row, Zecora comes down with the SWAAAMP FEEVEER, and Fluttershy works overtime to try and find a cure, despite negative effects on herself. This is yet another "Legend" episode for the season, and brings with it its own wonderful score for the Legend of Meadowbrook. Fluttershy's swamp trip is filled with lovely southern bayou-sounding score, with plenty of harpsichord, guitar, and accordion. “What Lies Beneath” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:09
“What Lies Beneath” BGM from the episode “What Lies Beneath” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E22). --Overall Comments-- In this week's episode, the Young Six stumble upon some mysterious caverns beneath the School of Friendship. Before they know it, they are split up and facing their greatest fears. At 13 tracks, this episode has a good amount of score, with many tracks approaching to passing the 2 minute mark. Each of the Young Six receives their own scene and track as the face some of their biggest fears in the cave. Cozy Glow reappears in this episode, becoming ever more mysterious, and brings back her leitmotif which we heard in her first appearance "Marks for Effort" back in the first half of the season. In addition, this episode also features the return of the Tree of Harmony, whom this time takes for to put the students through these tests. With it returns it's lovely leitmotif which we first heard all the way back in season 4's premiere episode "Princess Twilight Sparkle." A lot to cover today, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- In the episode's titular track, the Young Six discover that it was the Tree of Harmony testing them and teaching them a lesson about their friendships this entire time. With the return of the Tree of Harmony, comes a return of it's leitmotif from Season 4's premiere episodes "Princess Twilight Sparkle." Like earlier in the episode, the score foreshadows extra-sparkly Twilight Sparkle's actual identity, with the score at the beginning of the track backed with a solo vocal "ahhh," much like the Tree's leitmotif. When it is revealed to the students that this creature is the Tree itself, it's theme begins proper. This is a wonderful cue, and I'm really happy to hear it return in it's entirety after nearly 5 years. If you want to hear the original leitmotif from "Princess Twilight Sparkle," you can check out the tracks "Discord's Imprisonment / The Tree of Harmony" and "Saving Twilight & The Tree / 'Six Locks, Six Keys'" from that episode. Another great example of this shows wonderful use of motifs. (Watch in 1080p!) "You'll Play Your Part" Instrumental - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

03:02
"You'll Play Your Part" (Instrumental Version) from the episode "Twilight's Kingdom — Part 1" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E25). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- This episode pretty much blew anything we've seen in the past from My Little Pony out of the water. From a very intense villain, to a twisting story, to being beautifully storyboarded and animated, to absolutely God-like songs and score, to an all-out DBZ-style fighting sequence. Not only did he hit on all of the reoccurring themes throughout the season, but he "plussed" them so much it was amazing—Please see the episode's crowning-BGM "Friendship is the Key." --Track Specific Comments-- It has some stiff competition, but this song is climbing the ladders towards my favorite of the series. Celestia's Ballad probably still holds the title for "most beautiful" song, but this is certainly a close number 2. A lot of songs have a hook in the chorus to pull you in, but this entire song is a hook...I can't get it out of my head! We start out with some well-needed singing from Twilight as she explains how she feels. Complementing a great tune here is some fantastic acoustic guitar, quickly adding some strings and glockenspiel in the background. The song continues to build and add more instruments as Twilight sings, including more percussion, woodwinds, and choir. After the second verse, Celestia joins in, singing for the second time since last season's finale, and Nicole Oliver's voice is just as amazing as ever. The backing track here resemble's "Celestia's Ballad" from season 3's finale quite a bit. Next, the fandom explodes as Luna gets her first-ever singing part in the series, and who better to sing for her than Rarity's singing voice Kazumi Evans. Evans does a superb job here differentiating this singing from Rarity's, which is not easy. Cadance joins in, singing for the first time since "A Canterlot Wedding." The backing track builds adding the full orchestra in by the time we get to the chorus. And holy crap the chorus. These harmonies are simply God-like. The three singers here just nail it. The backing track perfectly adjusts, adding a moving yet upbeat rhythm to the song. And can I say that Britt McKillip's part in the second bridge is absolutely beautiful. I didn't think Ingram and Andrews could top the first chorus, but as we get to it for the second and final time, he manages to add so much emotion to it via a key change and some great brass. I won't lie—the final chorus made me tear up, it was that emotionally strong. “Coping With Anger” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:04
“Coping With Anger” BGM from the episode “All Bottled Up” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E02). --Overall Comments-- And here we are again! After 7 years, MLP enters its 7th season on air, and what a way to start off! The show is doing things a little differently to start off: having two distinct, yet connected episodes to begin the season, rather than a two-parter. So, here’s we’ll be talking about just “All Bottled Up.” Score-wise “All Bottled Up” is a little more subdued than the episode it’s paired with, “Celestial Advice.” We hear some drops of Starlight’s and Trixie’s leitmotifs, as well as the return of the new spa theme from last season. The episode builds up to another emotional ending, with another wonderful composition in “A Strong Friendship.” While this episode might be a little lighter on the score, it does feature our first song of the season, “Best Fiends Until the End of Time!” It’s quite the catchy number, and a good way to start the season off song-wise. It’s sad to hear this season will only be featuring 5 songs, so we have 4 more to go. Quality over quantity, as they say. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Starlight admits the truth to Trixie that she is angry with her. The track begins with a cue that sounds very Tetris-y to me. We last heard this theme last season in "Out of Reach" from "The Fault in Our Cutie Marks." As we progress to the second half of the track, the score become more emotional with an alternate version of a cue we heard last season in the track "The Magician's Assistant" in "No Second Prances." “Starlight’s Redemption" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

02:09
“Starlight’s Redemption" BGM from the episode “The Cutie Re-Mark, part 2” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E26). --Overall Comments-- Holy crap, this episode! Probably the most intense, darkest, and most complicated episode of My Little Pony to date. We get to travel through multiple timelines, see all of the major old villains reprised, and see how they would have taken over if not for the Mane 6. Plus, we get some more of the awesomeness that is Starlight Glimmer, who is consistently one step ahead of Twilight at every turn. And of course, her much awaited backstory and motivations are also revealed. This episode just blows most others out of the water with its scale, story telling, animation, and music. Being able to see all the different versions of the mane cast through each timeline was amazing, and just the idea of answering the question “what would happen if Twilight and the rest of the mane 6 never got together/the rainboom never happened” is something many have been awaiting for a long time. William Anderson's score of this episode was simply fantastic. It is filled with reprised motifs from previous episodes, both from this season and previous ones. Each villain’s motifs are reprised for them, some of which we haven’t heard since the first two seasons of the show. I have so many themes to point out in this episode, I’m probably going to miss a few! To top the entire two-parter off, we have an awesome song that starts out a little slow, but builds into a fantastic final part with most of the main MLP cast showing up in what can only be described as a series finale that isn’t actually a series finale. I can’t wait to see what season 6 and the movie have in store, as somehow even after the phenomenal season 4 finale, the MLP staff have found a way to raise the bar for themselves yet again! It’s been a fun, yet quick ride this season, and thank you all for all of your support! We have another long hiatus ahead of us, but if this season was any indication, another amazing 26 episodes of MLP await us on the other end. I will see you once again on the flip side for season 6 and the next Equestria Girls movie! --Track Specific Comments-- The emotional climax of the episode as Twilight manages to convince Starlight that she needs to give friendship a second chance. As Twilight speaks to her, another theme that we haven’t heard in a while is used. This emotional theme was first (and last) used in the finale of season 3’s “The Crystal Empire” in the track “Restoration of the Crystal Empire” as the Crystal Heart defeats Sombra. It works really, really well here! As the spell disappears, Equestria returns to normal, and the rest of the Mane 6 appear, a motif that first appeared at the beginning of this season’s premiere at the end of the track “The Call of the Cutie” is utilized. This theme also made subsequent appearances in “A Restful Sleep” from “Princess Spike” and “Shining’s Room” from “The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows." (Watch in 1080p!) “A Pretty Good Effect” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:57
“A Pretty Good Effect” BGM from the episode “The Fault in Our Cutie Marks” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S06E19). --Overall Comments-- The Cutie Marks Crusaders are doing well with their new purpose and calling: helping others with their cutie marks! That is, until a Griffon, Gabby, shows up looking for assistance in discovering hers. The CMC must surmount this seemingly impossible challenge. “The Fault in Our Cutie Marks” brings the 12th song of the season thus far, “Find the Purpose in Your Life.” This also puts Ed Valentine’s episodes up to 4 for 4 in terms of including songs; including his previous episode this season, “The Cart Before the Ponies,” another one which was CMC-focused. This catchy number brings with it that classic style of CMC and Pony songs and instrumentation, so expect plenty of acoustic guitars and mandolin. William Anderson’s score doesn’t disappoint, and even with the song is more plentiful than last week. Gabby brings back with her one of Griffonstone’s motifs from last season’s “The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone.” The score becomes more emotional as the episode continues, and we hear a few reprised pieces of score near its end. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The episode’s score begins with the Cutie Mark Crusader fanfare, which made its first appearance back in season 3’s “One Bad Apple.” This continues with another older CMC guitar motif. This one was first heard back in, hilariously enough, season 4’s “Flight to the Finish” (a previous Ed Valentine episode) in the track “‘Are You In?’”. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Pillars of Equestria” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:17
“The Pillars of Equestria” BGM from the episode “Shadow Play, part 1” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E25). --Overall Comments-- Wow. What an episode! The amount of continuity, both story-wise and musically, that flowed into "Shadow Play" was astounding, building upon seasons of lore. We not only are able to see the Legends of Equestria once more, but after seven seasons the screen is graced by Starswirl the Bearded, complete with dialogue! Weighing in at 27 tracks, the two-parter's score isn't the longest of the series, but certainly has the most individual pieces of score. And really, not one of them is worth skipping. Every single track here contains fantastic score, and many contain importance to both the episode and the season's arc. Throughout, we hear not only some awesome new pieces, but also returning cues and leitmotifs from the series and this season. This is especially true for each of the "pillars," as many of their leitmotifs / instrumentation established in earlier episodes this season return. The score blends in the blood-pumping action music you'd expect from a two parter, but also contains some beautiful ambient and emotional tracks. Right from the beginning, the episode's score is strong, and doesn't let up until the final note. I would consider this the best score of a two-parter, and some of the best score of the series. It's hard to say best, as there's quite a few episodes just this season in the running for that crown! There's a ton to cover, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- As mentioned above, the episode wastes no time getting to the good stuff, and neither does William Anderson's score! Right away we are thrown into one of the episode's main motifs, a downward piano arpeggio, reminiscent of the score at the beginning of "Beauty and the Beast," representing the Pillars of (old) Equestria. This makes for a beautiful way to begin this episode. The piano is backed with a full string ensemble, as well as an oboe. As Star Swirl continues to tell his final story, the score changes from lightly mysterious, to dark and sinister as we see the group go up against the Pony of Shadows. The piano arpeggios continue throughout, and the track ends where it began. One of my favorite from the episode, and this is only 1 of 27! (Watch in 1080p!) Corey's Reviews: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

I have a Brony themed YouTube Channel now. Click here for more MLP content from me: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT0qdZcxwQsRgIOWexsKUTA A review of the revamp for the popular animated television series 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' that first aired on national television in 2010, distributed by Hasbro, was created by Lauren Faust, and stars Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle), Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash/Applejack), Andrea Libman (Pinkie Pie/Fluttershy), and Tabitha St Germain (Rarity). My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic for some reason seems to be one of the most popular and commercialised TV Shows I have ever seen, and it's just a show about ponies. After constantly running into the show wherever I went, curiosity got the better of me and I finally decided to take a look at the show to see what all the fuss is about. This is my review for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Welcome to the longest review I've ever made. Codos to anyone who manages to watch the whole thing. This video took me forever to make. I've been wanting to make this video for years and I finally began production for the review in April. Between watching the actual show, doing the research on the creation of the show, the brony community, countless rewrites of the the script, and after many, MANY hours of filming and editing, let's hope I did the show justice. "Cuddly Friends Picnic” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:22
“Cuddly Friends Picnic” BGM from the episode “Fake It 'Til You Make It” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E04). --Overall Comments-- Rarity calls upon Fluttershy to help her watch her shop "Rarity For You" while she and her staff are out. Fluttershy attempts to curb her fear and inexperience by putting on a mask and acting like a Saddle Row Pony. Honestly, not a lot to say this week! This episode didn't leave room for much score outside of some incidental stuff. There was a little montage track at the beginning, the second one this season, as well as some returning cues at the episode's conclusion. “What Rainbow Likes” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:38
“What Rainbow Likes” BGM from the episode “The End in Friend” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E17). --Overall Comments-- It's quite amazing how few episodes feature Rainbow Dash and Rarity, and this episode lampshades it quite well! But finally we do get an episode featuring these two friends, and explore how they can remain friends with so little in common. With the two characters being featured, it should be surprised that many tracks feature some high-energy Wonderbolts-type score, and plenty of harpsichord. You'll also hear some neat Banjo-Kazooie-esc music for a new creature, the Bufugren, and some other returning motifs from previous episodes. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Rarity join Rainbow Dash in a game of buckball. This track contains some of the action score we've heard in previous episode, usually Wonderbolts- and Dash-related ones. (Watch in 1080p!) “Derpy & The Doctor" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:57
“Derpy & The Doctor" BGM from the episode “Slice of Life” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E09). --Overall Comments-- Wow. Just wow. I’m not sure what else I can say. This was one of the funniest and most entertaining episodes of anything I have ever seen. Sure, it was an over-the-top fan-pandering episode, but that’s what it’s supposed to be. They took that concept, cranked it up to 11, yet still gave it a heart and good moral. I don’t think there’s been an episode of MLP which kept me laughing for so long and so consistently. And all of the fan references, shoutouts, jabs (both at the show and the fans), and background characters were thrown into this story so wonderfully, it’s hard to no appreciate what M.A. Larson and crew were able to pull off. On top of that, we got some fantastic score in this episode as well. From reprises of old themes, to some beautiful orchestral ones, to an absolutely jaw dropping cello / dubstep duet with Vinyl and Octavia. I could talk for days about this episode, and still want to watch it more — but for now, let’s get to the BGM! And happy 100th episode MLP — I never thought this show would have gone this far, nor that I would be here now doing what I’m doing! What a great way to celebrate! --Track Specific Comments-- We have some fun with the Doctor and Derpy! We start with an upbeat, bouncy theme for the Doctor, and continue with a grand, orchestral part for his speech. (Watch in 1080p!) DOWNLOAD: MP3 (320 kbps): http://www.mediafire.com/listen/p2rqz... “Best Friends Forever?" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:24
“Best Friends Forever?" BGM from the episode “Amending Fences” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E12). --Overall Comments-- After a few episode which focused more on comedy and characters, episode 12 of season 5, “Amending Fences” focuses more on emotions and characters. It was a fantastic episode that revisited a small moment from the first episode of the series, and expanded upon it and its characters, bringing further depth to the show. The amount of callbacks and explanations to/of stuff from previous seasons, particularly 1 & 2, was great to see. M. A. Larson once again shows that he is the continuity king of MLP. The music of this episode, much like the story, was heavy on the feels and callbacks. We get reprises of many themes throughout, including Princess Twilight’s theme, and the “There You Are, Twilight” theme from the very first episode. Much like the previous episode, we’ve got quite a few tracks jam-packed in this week, so let’s get right to it! --Track Specific Comments-- As Twilight catches up with a bunch of her old friends, we get a simple piano theme to set the mood. Twilight begins explaining why she’s come back, and we get a reprise of a piano / guitar motif which has been used a few times before in season 4 & 5. It was last used in the season 5 premiere after everyone gets their cutie marks back in the “Cutie Marks Recovered Suite” near the end. Before that it was also used in season 4’s “Trade Ya” in the track “Not a Fair Trade”. However, most importantly this track was first used in season 4’s premiere episode “Princess Twilight Sparkle” in the track “It Doesn’t Feel Right”. When this motif is used in that episode, it is when the Mane 6 are leaving Twilight in Canterlot while they take care of stuff in Ponyville, leaving Twilight longing for her friends. This is quite the callback musically here, where in this scene Twilight is concerned about reconnecting with old friends which she forgot about a while back. I love the little musical connections William Anderson and Kelly Davidson are able to make, even so far apart, whether it’s intentional or not! (Watch in 1080p!) “Sunburst & Twilight” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:58
“Sunburst & Twilight” BGM from the episode “Uncommon Bond” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E24). --Overall Comments-- In the penultimate episode before the two-part season 7 finale, Starlight finally has a visit from Sunburst, and plans to show him around Ponyville. However, her plan goes awry when it seems he has more in common with her friends than her. Leading up to what is sure to be a music-packed two-parter, "Uncommon Bond" has quite its share of score as well, leading to 13 tracks in total. With many returning characters comes many returning themes, including motifs for Sunburst, Trixie, and Starlight. We hear a few other cues from this season, including its new ending theme, as well. The episode also contains three montage sequences, which have their own new fun piece of score to go with them. Probably the most montages in a single episode! Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Sunburst and Twilight bond in this first of three montage scenes for the episode. Each of these scenes contain this same new piece of score, with this one being the longest version. It's an up-beat, very friendly-sounding piece. The instrumentation contains some clarinets and xylophone, with acoustic guitar and glockenspiel backing. (Watch in 1080p!) “Still Friends” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

--Track Specific Comments-- This track begins with more of the Bufogren's motif. This time it sounds even more like a Banjo-Kazooie track. With the bouncy bassoon and xylophone instrumentation, it's a dead-ringer for a Grant Kirkhope piece. Once they get the info they need from the creature, Rainbow flies Rarity up to a cliffside, accompanied by some Wonderbolts orchestral score. As we near the end of the track, we shift to a more emotional piece as the two friends make up. The score here is slow and sparse, but carries a lot of weight thanks to the instrumentation featuring a clarinet, oboe, and harp. (Watch in 1080p!) “Painful Playing Problems” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:10
“Painful Playing Problems” BGM from the episode “Yakity-Sax” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E18). --Overall Comments-- Pinkie Pie's taken up the Yovidaphone, but she's not really that great at it. Are you ready for the best score in the history of Friendship is Magic? Because this episode contains the best score in the history of Friendship is Magic! Bask in the amazing tracks of Pinkie Pie playing the Yovidaphone! My ears totally weren't bleeding the entire time I was extracting the score. In a more serious note, in addition to Pinkie's playing, the episode also contains some really nice Yovidaphone music later on, as well as a new, fairly long, montage track, and a returning cue from back in Season 6! There is some great score in-between the Pinkie, trust me! Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Pinkie Pie travels around Ponyville, making everyone's day brighter with her wonderful Yovidaphone playing. “A Ponyville Wedding" BGM from the episode “Slice of Life” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E09). --Overall Comments-- Wow. Just wow. I’m not sure what else I can say. What a great way to celebrate! --Track Specific Comments-- Aside from the amazing Vinyl & Octavia duet, this track is definitely the highlight of the score for the episode! It’s definitely got that classic MLP score feel to it, calling back to season 1’s main themes, much like a lot of the other score in this episode. Which is of course very fitting for the 100th! It ends with a beautiful rendition of season 5’s version of the “Magic of Friendship” theme — now one of the series’ most prominent motifs. We last heard this used in “Make New Friends But Keep Discord” this season. Overall a beautiful way to end an amazing 100th episode of this fantastic show. “Sweet Smell of Success" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:08
“Sweet Smell of Success" BGM from the episode “Rarity Investigates!” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E15). --Overall Comments-- This episode must have had the most style of any MLP episode so far, and what better character to lead it than Rarity! If you didn’t catch it, this episode is a homage to the classic black & white noir films of the early to mid 1900s. From the visuals, to Rarity’s costumes, to the dialogue, to the amazing jazzy music, this was an amazing tribute to a classic film style. Plus, it’s an episode that featured Rarity and Rainbow Dash, two characters who really haven’t gotten an episode just for themselves in the five seasons of the show so far! Not to mention we get another episode (in a row no less) of a character realizing one of their dreams. The entire crew, from the writing, to storyboarding, to voice acting, to animation, right on down to the scoring definitely put a lot of love into this episode, and it shows. AN IMPORTANT NOTE: During all of the black & white noir scenes, the audio editors have made all audio come out of only the center channel, including the backing music. This means there is no sound in any other channel except a little film scratching sound. The reason for this is to further enhance the old film feel of these scenes (most films of that era were mono, not stereo). HOWEVER, this does mean I CANNOT extract any of the score from these scenes, which are unfortunately the highlight of this episode’s BGM. Only way to get this BGM would be fore William Anderson or Hasbro to release it. THANKFULLY, we got some more awesome jazz noir score over the end credits, which I was able to extract, so that’s better than nothing! You can find that in the track “Rarity Investigates!”. In homage to this episode, its music, and its inspiration, I have named most of the tracks from it after classic film noir lines or film names! Enjoy. --Track Specific Comments-- As Rainbow Dash returns with Spitfire, we get another reprise of the Wonderbolts’ theme. As Dash and Rarity talk, a small lesson theme from the series is used, before a small from of the “Friendship is Magic” theme used throughout season 4. Another part of the Wonderbolts' theme is used as Spitfire dismissed Wind Rider from the Wonderbolts. This theme first appeared in season 3’s “Wonderbolts Academy” at the end during the track “'I Quit!' / Lead Pony”, and was utilized again in season 4’s “Rainbow Falls”. (Watch in 1080p!) “Holly the Hearth Warmer” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:43
“Holly the Hearth Warmer” BGM from the special “Best Gift Ever” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S00E01). --Overall Comments-- In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's first special, the friends are preparing for another Hearth's Warming Eve, and rushing to find presents for everyone. The agree to do a "Hearthswarming Helper" thing instead, with each pony buying a gift for just one of their friends, who doesn't know who has them. Not only is "Best Gift Ever" a special 44 minute episode, but is also a holiday special. It features two new songs by Daniel Ingram, and score by William Anderson, who both bring the Christmas sound to the special's music. "One More Day" is a high-energy piece to open up the episode, with the traditional Christmas song sound and instrumentation, while "The True Gift of Gifting" is a more slow, melancholy, and emotional tune about the true meaning of the holiday. It also features a rare Spike solo part. William Anderson's score takes cues from previous Hearth's Warming episodes of the show, reprising numerous motifs from those episodes. We also hear various other cues for other characters and locations, with sleigh bells added on top to give them that holiday flair. At 44 minutes, this special is basically a two-parter episode, and thus packs a ton of backing score. A lot to cover in this special, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Flim & Flam are up to their shenanigans again, this time selling a horribly cheap talking doll, Holly the Hearth Warmer. William Anderson brings back the duo's ragtime leitmotif for this scene, with additional sleigh bells to help it fit in with the special. (Watch in 1080p!) “Rebuilding Friendship" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

“Rebuilding Friendship" BGM from the episode “Amending Fences” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E12). Much like the previous episode, we’ve got quite a few tracks jam-packed in this week, so let’s get right to it! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight attempts to save her friendship with Moon Dancer by constantly trying to apologizing, starting off here inside one of her books. As Twilight begins to apologize from the book, we get a simple version of the “Magic of Friendship” theme, which has really made a comeback this episode after not really being apparent many times this season. This version has a single clarinet and some glockenspiel in the background. As Twilight and Moon Dancer walk around Canterlot discussing what she’s learned, we get a specific version of the “Magic of Friendship” motif that was first used at the end of season 4’s “Maud Pie” in the track “Everypony Loves Pinkie”. You might also recognize this as the tack I used as part of the backing music to my “Season 4 Complete Soundtrack” video I made at the end of S4. The version used here has a quicker tempo, however. As Moon Dancer is trotting away, we get another reprise of the friendship motif from “Rainbow Rocks” that was used in this episode’s track, “There You Go, Twilight”. (Watch in 1080p!) "Saving Twilight & The Tree / 'Six Locks, Six Keys'" BGM from the episode "Princess Twilight Sparkle, pt 2" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E02). --Track Specific Comments-- And here's the longest rip from the two-part opener! This encompasses the entire ending climax of the episode, so we go through many different themes. After some arguing, we start off with what has to be the crowning moment of awesome of the episode for me: the Mane 5 saving Twilight from the killer plant. Applejack's slide under the tree is just so fun to watch. That entire short battle sequence had the absolute best animation I've seen from the series to-date. And the music fits perfectly. We get probably the most actiony BGM yet, with an awesome quick string section. From there, the Mane 6 return to the Tree of Harmony. Here's a nice reprise of the Tree of Harmony's theme from the flashback earlier in the episode. This is followed by a small trumpet melody that I wish was longer because it is excellent. That little part, and the section that follows, really drive home the weight of what is happening here--the Mane 6 are giving up the Elements of Harmony. With the Elements back in the tree, we get another reprise of the theme from the Discord flashback earlier in the episode. As the Princesses are released from the vines, we get a reprise of the BGM "Passing the Test" from the end of "The Crystal Empire, pt 2" where Celestia tells Twilight that she can move on to a higher level of study. Aside from this being a lovely motif in itself, it's also very fitting to this episode, as she has passed her first "test" as a Princess. Oh, and by the way: season-long story arc. Maybe we'll hear that little theme at the end more this season as we continue to see that box and discover what's inside. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Scam” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:08
“The Scam” BGM from the episode “Friendship University” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E16). --Overall Comments-- Flim, Flam, Chancellor Neighsay, and Star Swirl are all back in this week’s episode, which pits a brand new “Friendship” University up against Twilight’s School of Friendship. After a long hiatus, this week’s episode finally features a new song from Daniel Ingram. And it’s another Flim Flam song, in a similar vein to their previous “Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000” and “Flim Flam Miracle Curative Tonic” from seasons 2 and 4 respectively. But this time, they are laying the con down on Twilight Sparkle instead of Applejack for once! In addition to the return of the classic Flim Flam song, their leitmotifs, as well as that of Chancellor Neighsay, return for this episode in William Anderson’s score. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight and Rarity finally uncover Flim and Flam’s scam. (Watch in 1080p!) “Mount Aris” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:22
“Mount Aris” BGM from the episode “Surf and/or Turf” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E06). --Overall Comments-- Just six episodes in, and we’re already getting the chance to revisit Seaquestria and Mount Aris in the main show! What a pleasant surprise. As an aside, big props to the show’s artistic staff for adapting the locations to the Flash-animated series. With these grand locations comes some pretty wonderful score from William Anderson throughout. After a few episodes of more subdued score, this episode is jam-packed with score right in the forefront. He doesn’t waste any time implementing some fantastic leitmotifs for Mount Aris, Seaquestria, and our new character Terramar. Each one sounds beautiful, and encapsulates the settings wonderfully. In addition, we cannot overlook that this is also a Map episode, and of course features the map’s “Mission Complete” motif at the episode’s conclusion. But wait, there’s still more! This episode is just jam-packed from end-to-end with music, and also includes our third song of the season from Daniel Ingram, “Your Heart Is in Two Places.” This is a lovely duet, or more like duel, song between Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, both of which I’m excited to hear more solos from. Way too much to talk about this week, so let’s dive right in! …Literally this time, I guess. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The group arrives at Mount Aris, accompanied by a much more grand version of the location’s leitmotif. Some additional woodwind countermelodies are added on top of the previously heard harp motif of the cue. (Watch in 1080p!) “Book Club” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:03
“Book Club” BGM from the episode “The End in Friend” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E17). --Track Specific Comments-- Starlight tries to find common ground between Rainbow and Rarity over their love of books. This cue features a little bit of Starlight's leitmotif woven into the score. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Story’s End (Interlude)" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:47
“The Story’s End (Interlude)" BGM from the episode “A Hearth’s Warming Tail” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S06E08). --Overall Comments-- Wow! What an episode! My Little Pony takes on the classic Charles Dickens' tale “A Christmas Carol” with Starlight Glimmer filling the shoes of “bah, humbug” himself Ebenezer Scrooge. Producer-turn-writer Michael Vogel pulls out all the stops with this one, as it is this season’s musical episode! That’s right, prepare for six amazing holiday-themed songs from Daniel Ingram here, plus some fantastic backing score from him and orchestrator Caleb Chan, as they take over for William Anderson (as with all musical episodes). Not only is this a nice, abridged retelling of the classic story, it nicely mirrors Starlight’s own past. Plus, there’s solo songs by Pinkie, Applejack, and Luna; the last two of whom receive their first full solo number. The songs and story intertwine nicely, and deliver one of the most enjoyable My Little Pony episodes to date, I’d say. As with all of the MLP musical episodes, Ingram and Chan weave the orchestrations for the songs into the backing score between them, allowing for a seamless experience musically. This leads to almost 20 minutes of uninterrupted music for “A Hearth’s Warming Tail!” --Track Specific Comments-- The story’s end… begins… with another instrumental reprise of “Pinkie’s Present.” As Snowfall begins to tell the others what she’s learned, the melody of the beginning of the next song, the reprise of “Hearth’s Warming Eve Is Here Once Again” is foreshadowed. I do love the musical foreshadowing in MLP’s musical episodes. (Watch in 1080p!) "A True, True Friend" Instrumental - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

03:28
"A True, True Friend" (Instrumental Version) from the episode "Magical Mystery Cure" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S03E13). The instrumental version of what you might describe as the main song of the episode (and the series too, actually), being that it exemplifies the theme of the first half, is included over the end credits, and is the longest song of the episode. Much like "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me," this is also an entire Mane 6 song, although Twilight didn't actually sing in that one. Some fantastic lyrics here, a good message, and it manages to get a ton of actual story across in 3 or so minutes. The chain of how this sequence is very interesting too: breaking it down to pony 1 sings to pony 2 to get them to help pony 3, which then keeps moving down the line. It works out super well. And don't get me started on Rarity's part. Leave it to her to just ditch the rest of the song and deliver an amazing dramatic bridge! And boy, the town sure needs Pinkie Pie in their lives! (but not more than one) On a quality note, as always, removing the background vocals requires the use of only the surround channels, which usually sounds a little muffled. Watch the version with backing vocals for better quality on those parts. (Watch in 1080p!)
