MLP:FiM Background Music: Theme Song (Instrumental Version)

00:35
This is the intro theme song for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with the vocals removed. This was done by taking the surround left and right channels from the 5.1 mix. I know there are some people who skip the intro due to its cheesiness (HOW DARE YOU) and "My little pony, my little pony ahhh ahhhh ahhhhhhh" so now you can listen to it... without words? "Friendship is the Key" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

04:16
"Friendship is the Key" BGM from the episode "Twilight's Kingdom — Part 2" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E26). --Overall Comments-- From a very intense villain, to a twisting story, to being beautifully storyboarded and animated, to absolutely God-like songs and score, to an all-out DBZ-style fighting sequence. So far, this is Friendship is Magic's crowning achievement. This season has been different in many ways, including it's overarching continuity. While the majority of the season had fairly individual and "slice of life" episodes, Meghan McCarthy and her team have managed to interweave an overarching plot into them, making almost seemingly unrelated episodes come together. It was fantastic watching all of the callbacks and references to events and characters from this season, and how those individual moments each contributed to something much larger. This episode had hands-down some of the best music of the series, both songs and score. Daniel Ingram only provides two songs for this two-parter, but they surely fill the void of 10 songs. From the princesses, including Luna (!!), singing a song which I can only describe as "Godlike", to the fantastic finale song, Ingram, Steffan Andrews, and their team absolutely nailed it. And we cannot forget the music which takes up the majority of the episode: William Anderson's superb score—some of his best work! I wasn't sure if he would top his score from the season 4 premiere , but he delivered and then some. Not only did he hit on all of the reoccurring themes throughout the season, but he "plussed" them so much it was amazing—Please see the episode's crowning-BGM "Friendship is the Key." I'll be sure to point out as many musical callbacks and meanings as I can in the tracks' descriptions below! Enjoy, and see you for Equestria Girls 2! --Track Specific Comments-- Here is the episode's magnum opus, and the conclusion of the "...is the Key" track collection. Here, Twilight realizes that the magic of friendship is even greater than that of the alicorns, and after teaching a lesson about friendship to Discord, and receiving a gift from him in return, rushes off the box to see if it will unlock it. The Mane 6 are able to open the box,, unleashing the "Rainbow Power" allowing the Mane 6 to come together and defeat Tirek once and for all. Also, Twilight gets a Crystal Treehouse Castle. I say this is this episode's, and possibly William Anderson's magnum opus because this track is just that good. As the rainbow shimmer shines across all of the Mane 5, Spike, and Discord's bubble prisons, and Twilight's eyes rainbow-gleam, we get a choir-driven motif which is based off of the "Six Locks, Six Keys" theme, which is the one which has appeared during the similar scenes in every key episode this season. Here it's a little different a more epic to compliment the weight of what is happening in Twilight's mind. Next, we get an absolutely beautiful theme as Twilight reunites with her friends, and receives the gift from Discord. The score becomes more grand as they return to the Tree of Harmony and the box, becoming more tense as Tirek approaches. And here's something we haven't heard for a while—a full-on epic orchestration of the My Little Pony theme. Making that theme sound this magnificent is no easy feat, and William Anderson accomplishes it brilliantly. This is something we heard a lot of in the season 1 premiere e, and having it reprised here beautifully ties the entire series together. The BGM then shift to a reprise of one of the main themes of the season, which we've heard in this two-parter before, "Princess Twilight's Theme." This theme first appeared at the very end of the Season 4 opener "Princess Twilight Sparkle" as Twilight participated in the Summer Sun Celebration. Here it appears in an amazing extended form from it's original incarnation as Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 travel with their Rainbow Power undoing the damaging Tirek has caused on Equestria. As Twilight's castle is revealed, we get a short reprise of a motif we've heard before this season, but I can remember where right now. MLP:FiM Background Music: The Cutie Mark Crusaders Go Crusading

03:06
This is the catchy background music for the montage where the Cutie Mark Crusaders attempt to brute-force their way to getting their cutie marks. There is another version of this here on YT but it still has all the sound effects in it. This time, the instrumental music was ripped by Senn555 with no sound effects - thanks!! (There are still a few sound effects that are impossible to remove due to the way they're embedded in the audio, but they're like 99% gone) Taken from S1E18 "The Show Stoppers" of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Show copyright by Hasbro. Music by William Anderson. MP3 DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/?8vnipcq7tgtc8tf Do you want an official MLP:FiM original soundtrack release? "Blame Grid" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:25
"Blame Grid" BGM from the episode "Bats!" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E07). --Overall Comments-- Well this was an interesting episode. What seemed to be a simple episode about a disagreement between friends with different views turned into a full-on dark and scary later Halloween episode! With Flutterbat taking most of the spotlight, its easy to forget about the rest of the episode. There's some great creepy BGM, and of course the second song of the season! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight explains to the other girls what happened through a magic, very Tron-like, display. And of course that wouldn't be complete without some electronic Tron-like music! This was probably the highlight of the BGM in this episode for me--it's definitely different than the BGM we've heard in the series before. Plus, I always like it when a parody is not only shown in the visuals, but in the audio too. After listening to it some more, It also reminds me of some of the Portal 2 music. (Watch in 1080p!) "Luna's Banishment Suite" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

02:56
"Luna's Banishment Suite" BGM from the episode "Princess Twilight Sparkle, pt 2" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E02). --Overall Comments-- Here it is! SEASON FOUR! It's been a long wait, but boy was it worth it! This episode delivered, especially in the music department. The lack of songs was balanced out by some of William Anderson's best, most emotional, and motif-filled work for the series to-date. This season is shaping up to be a fantastic, yet fresh one. On an overall rip quality note: this episode was extremely well-mixed sound-wise overall compared to season 3. The use of all the surround channels to deliver immersion is much more grand. This makes the episode sound exceptional, but does make the BGM ripping process more of a challenge. I removed as much talking and sound effects as I could, but many invade all the channels (I'm looking at you growing vines!), and the echoes in the many inside scenes cannot be removed. Overall the rips turned out pretty well, though! --Track Specific Comments-- This. This might be my favorite BGM from the series so far. It's hard to top the ending music to "Return of Harmony," but the amount of emotion contained here is incredible. We start out with the intense theme we heard at the ending of last episode, allowing us to pick up right were we left off. When Celestia appears on screen, the musical feels begin. When she first confronts Luna, the motif there is very similar to Luna's theme from "'Silly Sleep' / Princess Luna / 'It's A Horse Without a Head!'" from "Sleepless in Ponyville." We then enter an epic battle scene between the sisters unlike anything we've seen from the series thus far. I do want to quickly comment on the lack of BGM during the next part, where Twilight is crying over Celestia's body. While music can evoke strong emotions, sometimes the lack of it can do even more. It was a fantastic choice by the show staff and Anderson to leave this part silent, so we can only hear Twilight and nothing else. It hit me like a train, and is definitely the darkest moment of the series thus far. However, Celestia recovers and realizes she needs to wield the Elements of Harmony to defeat her sister. When Twilight realizes that this is actually a vision of the past, the BGM in the background is definitely Luna's theme from "Sleepless in Ponyville" as I mentioned above. And then we get to what might have been my favorite part of the episode--Celestia banishing Luna to the moon. First off, the tear in her eye as she did so brought some to mine. Another small touch by the staff that goes a long way. What really drove the emotions home though was the reprise of "Celestia's Lament" from part 1, but with a much more monumental and filled-out feeling with the entire orchestra taking up the theme. That alone made this episode for me. (Watch in 1080p!) MLP:FiM Background Music - Rarity's Fashion Show

02:01
This is the awesome background instrumental soundtrack from Rarity's (successful) fashion show at the end of episode 14 "Suited for Success" of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The speech couldn't be 100% removed, so that's why you can still sort of hear Hoity Toity's flabbergasted blabbering at some points. I did this by removing the center voice channel from the 5.1 surround mix. Also, the LFE (low frequency) channel is awesome in this, turn up the bass! “Sneaking” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:50
“Sneaking” BGM from the special “Best Gift Ever” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S00E01). --Overall Comments-- In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's first special, the friends are preparing for another Hearth's Warming Eve, and rushing to find presents for everyone. The agree to do a "Hearthswarming Helper" thing instead, with each pony buying a gift for just one of their friends, who doesn't know who has them. Not only is "Best Gift Ever" a special 44 minute episode, but is also a holiday special. It features two new songs by Daniel Ingram, and score by William Anderson, who both bring the Christmas sound to the special's music. "One More Day" is a high-energy piece to open up the episode, with the traditional Christmas song sound and instrumentation, while "The True Gift of Gifting" is a more slow, melancholy, and emotional tune about the true meaning of the holiday. It also features a rare Spike solo part. William Anderson's score takes cues from previous Hearth's Warming episodes of the show, reprising numerous motifs from those episodes. We also hear various other cues for other characters and locations, with sleigh bells added on top to give them that holiday flair. At 44 minutes, this special is basically a two-parter episode, and thus packs a ton of backing score. A lot to cover in this special, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Discord tells Rainbow Dash that they need to be sneaky to catch Fluttershy's gift. The costumes they wear, if you didn't notice, are references to another Hasbro property, GI Joe. Rainbow as Storm Shadow and Discord as Snake Eyes. William Anderson also sneakily follows suit with a short piece of score at the beginning which mimics the GI Joe theme. "Transformation" / "The Magic of Friendship" - My Little Pony: Equestria Girls BGM

04:06
"Transformation" / "The Magic of Friendship" BGM from the movie "My Little Pony: Equestria Girls" based on the television show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." Well, here we are: Equestria Girls! I'll preface this by saying the movie surprised me. I went in with low expectations (I never was a fan of the obvious corporate concept), and came out entertained. It was fun, and while not amazing, it was by no means bad, or even mediocre. Plus, the songs and BGM were all FANTASTIC and top-quality. I'll note that if you are for some reason not a fan of "pop" music, you probably won't be thrilled with the songs in the movie. But you've gotta admit the quality and production of them is great. And here's another big one, this one at just over 4 minutes. This is the BGM for the Transformation scene, as well as the conclusion of the battle scene when the Mane 6 defeat Sunset Shimmer. This starts out with an interesting instrumental remix of the My Little Pony Theme...remix from the opening credits of the movie. This one has some strings overlaying the instrumental mix. It's interesting to see William Anderson composing around, and perhaps on top of, Daniel Ingram's song instrumental. If you just was the instrumental of the Theme Song remix, I suggest seeing the video for just that in the playlist linked further down in the description, which is much higher quality anyway since I didn't have to work around Twilight saying the elements. After the transformation remix, we go back into a full, grand orchestration for the final defeat of Sunset Shimmer. I love the theme that begins at 2:30. It's one of the more emotional themes I've heard from this series. Enjoy! (Watch in HD!) "Bats" Instrumental - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

"Bats" (Instrumental Version) from the episode "Bats!" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E07). (Download link below) --Overall Comments-- Well this was an interesting episode. What seemed to be a simple episode about a disagreement between friends with different views turned into a full-on dark and scary later Halloween episode! With Flutterbat taking most of the spotlight, its easy to forget about the rest of the episode. There's some great creepy BGM, and of course the second song of the season! --Track Specific Comments-- This song, much like the first song of the season "Hearts Strong as Horses" is quite the departure from the normal fare of songs in the series. It is obviously a direct homage to the works of Danny Elfman, most specifically on "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Daniel Ingram also cites "Beauty and the Beast" as inspiration for the song, most likely referring to "The Mob Song" from the movie's climax, which is reminiscent of the end of "Bats" where the Mane 6 are chanting around Fluttershy. Style-wise, this song doesn't rely much of melody or harmonies. There are no harmony or background vocals in the song, with the closest being when the Mane 6 are all chanting--but even there they are all chanting the same notes. It is nice to have another duet song between two ponies. The back and forth between Applejack and Fluttershy is great, more specifically how the tone of the song changes as each sings, reflecting their moods and arguments. On a story note, it's great that both characters pretty much have correct viewpoint and give reasonings backing them up. Truly there is not a "right" answer here. Much of what makes this song stick out is the off-tempo and the backing orchestration. Steffan Andrews definitely had some fun with this orchestration. Just listen to those quick arpeggios in the woodwind section at the beginning and throughout the song. That alone makes the song for me. The song has a very "bouncy" beat with the bass and tubas providing a very powerful bass section to the song. There is a lot of blaring horns throughout the song, especially when Applejack is singing, mimicking her loud, forceful, and tough argument. (Watch in 1080p!) “Flawless“ Instrumental - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

02:17
“Flawless“ (Instrumental Version) from the episode “Fame and Misfortune” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E14). --Overall Comments-- Twilight decides to publish the Mane 6’s old Friendship Journal in an attempt to try and spread more friendship lessons across Equestria. It unfortunately doesn’t pan out quite the way she wants it to! It’s pretty interesting and neat to have an episode focused on the friendship journal again, especially so many years down the line. In addition to some fun tracks that take us through the Mane 6 going more and more insane after the book’s release, William Anderson also gives us some now older themes to bring us back. The most prominent is the full version of the “Magic of Friendship” theme, which was prominently used throughout Season 4, but hasn’t been used as much in Seasons 6 or 7. It was nice to see its reuse in a prominent moment in this episode, which centers around the book also from the fourth season. Most surprisingly, however, this episode contains another song, riding off one we heard just last week! “Flawless” is another beautiful group number for all of the Mane 6, which also features solos for each. It’s great to hear another song so quickly, even if that means we only have one more to go this season… Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Well, that was quick! Right on the heels of last week’s song in “The Perfect Pear,” we’re graced this week with yet another Ingram song. This one, much like the first song this season, features all of the Mane 6, with some wonderful harmonies and counter melodies, as well as solos for each. The song begins with Twilight taking the lead with the first solo, and strong acoustic guitar backed with strings. The bass enters by the second line, adding a very groovy feel to the song. A small drum fill then takes us to the first chorus, with all of the Mane 6 joining in in harmony. The hook here is incredibly catchy, helped by the off-beats on the drums and bass. Ingram and Caleb Chan add in mandolin for the chorus as well, giving it that trademark MLP sound. The strings are also used to add some nice countermelodies to the group’s vocals. The mandolin becomes prominent over the acoustic guitar as Rainbow Dash begins the next verse. Strings take a more center stage for Rarity and Applejack’s solos. The song’s energy continues to pick up into the next chous. Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Twilight take the lead for the bridge. The backing instrumentation backs off here, with the exception of some building drums, and some guitar flourishes. Some “ahhs” from the rest of the Mane 6 fill in for them. One final drum fill takes us into the final chorus. The final chorus features some absolutely beautiful counter-melody vocals from Fluttershy, and one from Pinkie Pie. They really help up the energy of the final chorus heading into the song’s end. (Watch in 1080p!) “Sunburst & Twilight” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:58
“Sunburst & Twilight” BGM from the episode “Uncommon Bond” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E24). --Overall Comments-- In the penultimate episode before the two-part season 7 finale, Starlight finally has a visit from Sunburst, and plans to show him around Ponyville. However, her plan goes awry when it seems he has more in common with her friends than her. Leading up to what is sure to be a music-packed two-parter, "Uncommon Bond" has quite its share of score as well, leading to 13 tracks in total. With many returning characters comes many returning themes, including motifs for Sunburst, Trixie, and Starlight. We hear a few other cues from this season, including its new ending theme, as well. The episode also contains three montage sequences, which have their own new fun piece of score to go with them. Probably the most montages in a single episode! Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Sunburst and Twilight bond in this first of three montage scenes for the episode. Each of these scenes contain this same new piece of score, with this one being the longest version. It's an up-beat, very friendly-sounding piece. The instrumentation contains some clarinets and xylophone, with acoustic guitar and glockenspiel backing. (Watch in 1080p!) “'Genius' Teachers” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:06
“'Genius' Teachers” BGM from the episode “Non-Compete Clause” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E09). --Overall Comments-- After many, many, many seasons, "Non-Compete Clause" offers us another Rainbow Dash & Applejack episode, with them competing to be the Teacher of the Month, in a similar vein to "Fall Weather Friends" all the way back in season 1. It also offers the first prominent school-related episode since the season premiere. Musically, the episode features returning styles for Applejack and Rainbow Dash, a couple of fun montage tracks, and a return of the original version of the "Celestia's Story" cue. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- You should recognize the finale track of the episode as the "Celestia's Story" cue, which first appeared back in the Season 7 premiere. We heard the alternate version of this theme at the end of last week's episode, but the version used here is the original. This was used in a few episodes throughout season 7 as well. The cue used here is the more complete version, which features the woodwind bridge after the two repetitions of the main melody, which I don't think has been used since the original appearance in "Celestial Advice." Unlike the original, it then repeats the melody one more time after the bridge. Still a lovely theme. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Science of Friendship" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:53
“The Science of Friendship" BGM from the episode “What About Discord?” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E22). --Overall Comments-- Discord’s back, and he’s apparently gotten all buddy-buddy with Twilight’s friends whilst she was shut in her library for a “Booksortcation." What happened with Discord and Twilight's friends that weekend? She is determined to find out! Being a Discord episode, we got a ton of hilarity and references, but surprisingly a lot of screen time and development for Twilight as well. Being that a good deal of this episode revolves around Twilight and the castle, a few reprises of some of the themes relating to those are used, in addition to the plentiful use of Discord’s styles of score. Onto the music! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight tries to further understand what happened over the weekend between Discord and her friends scientifically. Now here’s a theme I don’t think we’ve heard in ages. The track begins with a piece of score we first heard in the track “A Real Magical Amulet” all the way back in season 3’s “Magic Duel”. The theme was used again in the episode, at a quicker pace, during the track “A Second Duel”. As an unrelated fun fact for those who don’t know, the episode “Magic Duel” was the episode that premiered the infamous “Magic of Friendship” theme which has been used countless times in seasons 4 & 5. You have to love the little nod to the “Back to the Future” score at the end of this track as Pinkie Pie parodies Marty McFly’s look on screen. It’s a nice, little touch! (Watch in 1080p!) “'MAKE WITH THE TRICKS!!'” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:08
“'MAKE WITH THE TRICKS!!'” BGM from the episode “It Isn't the Mane Thing About You” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E19). --Overall Comments-- “It Isn’t the Mane Thing About You” is a Rarity episode that gives her, and Tabatha, the freedom to do what they do best: go flipping insane. After last week’s episode full of Daring Do and Egyptian score, this week it takes a little more of a backseat to Rarity’s crazy antics. After more than a season-long absence, Zecora and her home finally make another appearance, and bring with them their African-inspired percussion score. Most of the episode’s best score is saved for the end, as Rarity sees that she doesn’t need the same Mane to make a difference, be herself, and look fabulous. As she sports a punk rock look, Anderson uses an interesting blend of her normal harpsichord and electric guitar on a few returning motifs. And of top of all this, the episode features a song! Well, a short Pinkie diddy. Something we haven’t had in the series since “A Friend in Deed” and Season 1. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Rarity is becoming desperate about restoring her mane, and eventually convinces Twilight and Starlight to try and utilize magic to get hers back. The track starts off sad to match Rarity's emotion, with some harpsichord thrown in throughout after. The orchestra joins in quickly as Starlight and Twilight attempt their spell. (Watch in 1080p!) “Music Box of Friendship” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:32
“Music Box of Friendship“ from the episode “A Royal Problem“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E10). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- Wow. Just wow. Joanna and Kristine continue to deliver some of the most-requested episodes of all time this season, with us finally receiving one that’s Celestia and Luna-centered! Throughout we get to see them bicker much like the brief glimpse we saw in episode 100, and it’s up to Starlight Glimmer (who is now being called by the Cutie Map!) to help solve their issues. What follows is a hilarious and emotional rollercoaster as the two royal sisters try to be each other for a day / night. William Anderson and Kelly Davidson deliver some fantastic score for this big episode, drawing both on previous motifs and new compositions. Both Celestia and Luna’s leitmotifs are reprised a few times, and of course the Cutie Map’s “mission accomplished” theme appears at the episode’s end. In addition, there’s some lovely new montage score, and a few grand battle tracks backing Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon’s fight scene. There’s a lot to cover in the 14 tracks this week, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight Sparkle spies… err… checks up on Starlight Glimmer in Canterlot, by utilizing a spell which makes her appear as a music box. Certainly interesting. Fittingly, Anderson uses some lovely little music box score for this scene, which drifts into and out of a more orchestral version of the tune. Comforting, right? “Mission: FIMpossible” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:46
“Mission: FIMpossible“ from the episode “Sparkle’s Seven“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S09E04). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- I never thought this would come, but here we are: the 200th episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And what an episode it was! In a play on heist-themed movies, especially Ocean’s 11, Twilight, the Mane 6, and Spike are tasked with attempting to break through Shining Armor’s Canterlot Castle security. Throughout are plenty of laughs, movie references, and callbacks, in addition to some great character development for Spike, Twilight, and Shining Armor. William Anderson’s score really shines throughout, with 16 tracks in total for the 200th outing. With plenty of parody of score from movies, especially Mission: Impossible, there’s quite a bit of fantastic music. Previous cues return, such as Zephyr Breeze’s leitmotif and Noir Rarity, and for the first time in a while we have some custom credits score! I could go on for a while about the score here, but I’ll save it for the track comments. Lots to listen to! Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Sorry for the horrible pun! But not really. The Mission: Impossible parody score returns in an extended form for this track, as Twilight and her crew put her plan into motion. I absolutely love the part that starts about a minute in: the mix of the synth percussion, strings, and piano work really well together. The track ends on one more drop of the iconic start motif from the Mission: Impossible theme. (Watch in 1080p!) “The Great Steam Mystery" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:22
“The Great Steam Mystery" BGM from the episode “Applejack’s ‘Day’ Off” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S06E10). --Overall Comments-- Yay, another Rarity and Applejack episode! A rather simpler slice-of-life episode compared to the past few, “Applejack’s ‘Day’ Off” has the feel, to me, of a classic season 1 or 2 episode of the show. It’s a more uneventful (overall) character study episode, which helps to highlight how some of the characters have grown over the show’s run, and where they still falter (AJ). The episode’s score is also in tune with this, including a wonderful guitar-filled montage number which definitely has that nostalgic-MLP feel. The “Magic of Friendship” motif also makes a more prominent comeback in this episode. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Engineer Applejack explains and solves practical problems! This scene is accompanied by one of AJ’s exposition themes. (Watch in 1080p!) “Stygian's Story / Fighting the Darkness” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

02:11
“Stygian's Story / Fighting the Darkness” BGM from the episode “Shadow Play, part 2” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E26). --Overall Comments-- Wow. What an episode! The amount of continuity, both story-wise and musically, that flowed into "Shadow Play" was astounding, building upon seasons of lore. We not only are able to see the Legends of Equestria once more, but after seven seasons the screen is graced by Starswirl the Bearded, complete with dialogue! Weighing in at 27 tracks, the two-parter's score isn't the longest of the series, but certainly has the most individual pieces of score. And really, not one of them is worth skipping. Every single track here contains fantastic score, and many contain importance to both the episode and the season's arc. Throughout, we hear not only some awesome new pieces, but also returning cues and leitmotifs from the series and this season. This is especially true for each of the "pillars," as many of their leitmotifs / instrumentation established in earlier episodes this season return. The score blends in the blood-pumping action music you'd expect from a two parter, but also contains some beautiful ambient and emotional tracks. Right from the beginning, the episode's score is strong, and doesn't let up until the final note. I would consider this the best score of a two-parter, and some of the best score of the series. It's hard to say best, as there's quite a few episodes just this season in the running for that crown! There's a ton to cover, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight finds Stygian inside the Shadow, and he explains his side of the story to her. The score starts off extremely atmospheric, with a few notes on a dulcimer played here and there, with lots of reverberation. Some sinister choir is also brought in as the scene progresses. As Starlight comes in as well, and the two talk to Stygian, a short, inspirational melody is played on a glockenspiel and violin. As the Shadow fights back, the score once again takes a dark and high-octane tone. This continues as the group all bands together to try and pull Stygian from the Shadow. The score becomes more triumphant as they get closer and closer to succeeding. (Watch in 1080p!) Now your next karaoke night will be the best night ever! For best results get 2 or more people - one for the backing choir's lyrics and one for the main six :D Or record yourself singing *all* the parts and post a video response! This is the instrumental version of "At The Gala" from S1E26 "The Best Night Ever" of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Daniel Ingram's score, inspired by Sondheim's "Into the Woods," is INCREDIBLE! Seriously this composition rivals some of Disney's best. And as wonderful as the song is as it exists in the episode, removing the vocal tracks allows you to hear some of the musical genius that normally gets covered up! Anyways, enjoy! Also, some of the karaoke lyrics might be wrong, especially the backing choir... if you have corrections let me know and I'll stick an annotation over the offending lyric. “Prank Polka” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:15
“Prank Polka“ BGM from the episode “28 Pranks Later” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S06E15). --Overall Comments-- It’s only August, but we’re heading into Halloween already! When Rainbow Dash’s pranks become out-of-hand, Pinkie Pie and the rest of Ponyville find a way to get her back, and teach her a lesson. “28 Pranks Later” delivered quite a bit of score, in many various styles. The episode begins with some horror score, before drifting into some more normal fair driven by the musical stylings of the Mane 6 currently featured on screen. The score then delivers us a fantastic polka pranking montage track, then multiple super-spooky and tense horror score, and even (finally!) another featured piece over the credits! Let’s dive into each individual track. I went a little overboard with the alliteration and rhyming! --Track Specific Comments-- Here’s something we haven’t heard in a bit — polka! This particular polka theme last appeared in Season 5’s “The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows” in the track “Avoiding Ponies Polka.” The version here is slightly extended and modified versus last season’s. “Brotherhooves Social" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

03:24
“Brotherhooves Social" BGM from the episode “Brotherhooves Social” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E17). --Overall Comments-- This episode was definitely full of surprises, from Big Mac dressing up in a dress in order to be a part of the Sisterhooves Social with his sister, to the Dolly Parton-like song, to the extremely well-done and emotional scene at the end, to the music during that scene. The entire episode was really fun and emotional, and brought us some much needed character development for Big Mac and Apple Bloom, as well as Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo. It also continued this season’s streak of utilizing events / plot points from the first couple of seasons of the show in new ways. --Track Specific Comments-- Hands down, the highlight track of the episode and one of the most beautiful and emotional tracks from the entire series (to match one of the most emotional scenes too). When the piano comes in as Apple Bloom is talking, it boosts the emotion of the scene so much in just the right way. As Big Mac speaks, we get an equally emotional woodwind and string piece, which build up to a fantastic climax and drop-off, before changing into our happy, resolved ending looking at the sun. Orchard Blossom’s theme gets one final reprise as Big Mac imitates her one last time for Apple Bloom. There’s not much more I can say about this track. It’s one of the best from this series, and is the exact reason I do this every week. Kudos to William Anderson and Kelly Davidson for their work. (Watch in 1080p!) “A Real Parent” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:46
“A Real Parent” BGM from the episode “Father Knows Beast” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E24). --Overall Comments-- Spike certainly is receiving some big episodes this season! First the whole wings thing, and now he gets to meet his father. ...Or does he? The second half of the season continues to bring the songs, with "Father Knows Beast" providing us our second week of new songs in a row! "Just Can't Be a Dragon Here" is a wonderful jazzy musical number, sung by Spike's "father," Sludge. With Daniel Ingram having the opportunity to utilize The Nashville Scoring Orchestra from the movie's recording in the songs this season, he's certainly not wasted the opportunity, with most of the songs featuring prominent brass, and having a big-band, jazz feel. And this week's song is certainly know exception, filled to the bring with wonderful sounding muted trumpets, trombone and also plenty of saxophone. William Anderson's score doesn't slouch this episode either, with two montage scenes with their own score, plenty of more emotional cues, a new motif for Sludge, and even a short reprise of the song by Spike with Anderson's backing. A lot this week, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Spike becomes frustrated with Twilight, thinking that she has become jealous that Spike has found his father, leaving her out. You can hear Twilight's heart break. (Watch in 1080p!) “A Kirin Tale“ Instrumental w/ Backing Vocals - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

03:12
“A Kirin Tale“ (Instrumental with Backing Vocals) from the episode “Sounds of Silence“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E23). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- What a musical treat! In "Sounds of Silence," the map calls Applejack and Fluttershy to the Peaks of Peril, and Kirin Village, where they meed the oddly quiet Kirin. They must help on outcast Kirin, Autumn Blaze, convince the village to restore their voices. This episode is jam-packed with music from end to end, including new score for the Kirins and Autumn, and a brand new song! The episode concludes with a reprise of the song as well, something we haven't had since the musical episode "A Hearths Warming Tail" back in season 6. A song ending an episode is also something we haven't had since that same season 6 episode. The song itself features beautiful lyrics, and some of my favorite backing score, especially for the addicting chorus. Pair that with Rachel Bloom's fantastic vocal performance, and the continued use of the live Nashville Scoring Orchestra from the movie, and this song shapes up to be one of the best of the series. The episode's score by William Anderson doesn't skimp out either, giving us new themes for the Kirin and Autumn Blaze mixed throughout the episode. One thing to note is that even though this is a map episode, it's one of the rare instances where none of the map's normal leitmotifs appear. This is due to the quick start and end, especially since the episode ends right with the song. A lot this week, so let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- I really can't stop listening to this song; it's just so fun and enjoyable. Getting to the chorus is a treat every time. An upbeat musical theater-style song, with plenty of mandolin to make it an instant classic MLP song, the song features numerous parts of Autumn rambling on about various subjects in between the singing. The song beings mainly with strings, mandolin, and glockenspiel, with some drums and horns mixed here and there. It really picks up at the first chorus, with beautiful legato horn parts backing Rachel's vocals, and a changeup of the beat. The second and third verses is slightly more upbeat than the first, featuring a little more instrumentation and brass, and are separated by Autumn rambling off the plot of "Phantom of the Opera." Who doesn't love musical theatre? The song finishes off with one more grand reprise of the wonderful chorus, with the trumpets taking center stage near the song's end. The live orchestra really shines at this part. The lyrics in this song are especially strong, filled with tons of really great metaphors: "Rainbows won't light up the sky unless you let it rain" / "Candles just won't glow until they're burned." Add in all the ramblings of Autumn and musical theatre references, and the lyrics are just as enjoyable as the rest of the song. Great work to Jim Miller and Nicole Dubuc, who re-wrote the lyrics once Rachel Bloom was brought on. In addition, this song is more or less the longest song since season 4's Flim Flam number, depending on how you slice it. Including the talking intro, it's longer than "Battle of Sugar Belle;" without it's slightly shorter. Regardless, any song that's 3+ minutes is long for the series! (Watch in 1080p!) “Old Science Lab" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:43
“Old Science Lab" BGM from the episode “Amending Fences” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S05E12). --Overall Comments-- After a few episode which focused more on comedy and characters, episode 12 of season 5, “Amending Fences” focuses more on emotions and characters. It was a fantastic episode that revisited a small moment from the first episode of the series, and expanded upon it and its characters, bringing further depth to the show. The amount of callbacks and explanations to/of stuff from previous seasons, particularly 1 & 2, was great to see. M. A. Larson once again shows that he is the continuity king of MLP. The music of this episode, much like the story, was heavy on the feels and callbacks. We get reprises of many themes throughout, including Princess Twilight’s theme, and the “There You Are, Twilight” theme from the very first episode. Much like the previous episode, we’ve got quite a few tracks jam-packed in this week, so let’s get right to it! --Track Specific Comments-- Twilight and her old friends visit the old Science Lab where they used to learn together as fillies. We relive some of their past in flashbacks. As Twilight looks through the window, we get a reprise of the “Magic of Friendship” theme with a slightly altered melody. (Watch in 1080p!) “‘So Many Wonderful Memories’” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

01:15
“‘So Many Wonderful Memories’“ from the episode “Forever Filly“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E06). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- In a sort-of follow up to “Sisterhooves Social,” Rarity realizes that she and Sweetie Belle haven’t been spending as much time together lately, and embarks on a quest to create some new memories with her younger sister. However, she fails to realize just how much she’s grown. A more character-focused episode, “Forever Filly” is a little lighter on the score than the past few weeks. Being an episode focused on Rarity, many parts of it are of course filled with harpsichord. In addition, we have a couple new themes for new characters, as well as some previous cues brought back, including some of the fashion show music. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The episode returns with another melodramatic singer for Rarity, before transitioning into a new lovely and simple, soft vibraphone melody. Some sad violin is added in transitioning us to another run of the motif. (Watch in 1080p!) "Running the School as Friends” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:38
“Running the School as Friends” BGM from the episode “School Daze, part 2” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E02). --Overall Comments-- Can you believe that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is back for an EIGHTH season? I certainly can't! The season begins quickly with what seems to be one of the main focuses: Twilight's new School of Friendship. Surprisingly picking up where the movie left off, Twilight wants to create a place to teach kids from inside and outside of Equestria about friendship. But she runs into some trouble with a strict school board. While certainly a slightly different focus than previous seasons, the score continues to be as good as ever. Fresh off My Little Pony: The Movie, Daniel Ingram enters into season 8 with two songs for the premiere! Written by (also fresh off the movie) Michael Vogel, and new executive producer Nicole Dubuc, the songs have some wonderful vocals and a playful back and forth with the choir. Daniel Ingram also had the chance to use some live instruments during the MLP Movie's recording on these songs, specifically some of the strings and brass. You can really hear this in the brass on "Friendship Always Wins," which sounds stunning. That song really has the style of many of the mainstay songs from the series in recent seasons, while the first song, "School of Friendship" is more of a ensemble broadway musical number. William Anderson also doesn't disappoint with the score. This premiere falls more in line with some of the tamer ones, with no huge big-baddie or intense plot, which leads to some more slice of life episode-style score. New character Chancellor Neighsay receives his own leitmotif, we hear returning themes from most of the lands we have visited the past few seasons, and Celesta's leitmotif is taking through some variations throughout. Lots to discuss, so let's dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- (Watch in 1080p!) “Hearthswarming Helpers” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:46
“Hearthswarming Helpers” BGM from the special “Best Gift Ever” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S00E01). --Track Specific Comments-- In order to save each other from going through the hassle of buying everyone gifts, the Mane 6 and Spike decide to do a "Hearthswarming Helper" thing where they each draw a name from a hat and buy a gift for just that friend. "'Game On!'" - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:05
"'Game On!'" BGM from the episode "Flight to the Finish" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E05). --Overall Comments-- So we finally have a canon dealing with Scootaloo and her inability to fly, and it was fantastic! This episode was surprisingly fun, with emotional parts at just the right moments. The music was no different--plus, we got our first song of season 4! This season is moving along nicely. --Track Specific Comments-- I really love this short, but sweet BGM. I like it when composers take a theme and make it's meaning be completely different, while keeping its melody intact. Here Anderson & team took the Crusaders fanfare we've heard throughout the series and turning it into a sort-of battle fanfare. I look forward to hearing this when rewatching the episode. “True Friendship in Action” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:40
“True Friendship in Action” BGM from the episode “The End in Friend” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E17). --Overall Comments-- It's quite amazing how few episodes feature Rainbow Dash and Rarity, and this episode lampshades it quite well! But finally we do get an episode featuring these two friends, and explore how they can remain friends with so little in common. With the two characters being featured, it should be surprised that many tracks feature some high-energy Wonderbolts-type score, and plenty of harpsichord. You'll also hear some neat Banjo-Kazooie-esc music for a new creature, the Bufugren, and some other returning motifs from previous episodes. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The episode begins with a returning cue, which was previously heard in a few episodes, and contains a little inspiration from the "Magic of Friendship" motif. I for the life of me can't find the previous episodes this was used in, so feel free to remind me in the comments if you remember! It's a beautiful little theme. (Watch in 1080p!) “Somnamula” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

02:49
“Somnamula“ from the episode “Daring Done?“ of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S07E18). (DOWNLOAD LINK BELOW). --Overall Comments-- Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie are shocked to find out Daring Do is retiring from adventuring & book writing. They embark on a journey with her to figure out why, and hopefully fix ponies' opinions on her. As expected, this episode is filled to the brim with epic adventure score, and variations of Daring Do's leitmotif. As we travel to the Egypt-inspired location of Somnambula in Southern Equestria, William Anderson brings with it Egyptian and Middle Eastern-inspired score. Let’s dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- The awesome flashback story scene where we hear the story of Somnamula. This track, like most of the episode's score, finds it's instrumentation in classic Egyptian music. We begin with a slow woodwind instrument. The score then picks up with a more orchestral and cinematic part. We switch over to a malted dulcimer for the middle part, before returning to the more cinematic score. Just like the score from "Campfire Tales" a few episodes ago, this track, and much of the music from this episode, show how varied the score from Friendship is Magic is, and how wonderful it is to listen to on its own. This is the BGM from the scene where Rainbow Dash saves Rarity and does her Sonic Rainboom. The music is a cool orchestral/rock hybrid here. Listening to this type of BGM really makes you appreciate the work that William Anderson (the bgm composer) does for the show - it adds so much yet you hardly notice it when you're watching! Hasbro will likely only consider it if they see the support (and therefore potential sales) for an OST release. So sign the petition! MLP:FiM BGM: Flim Flam Bros. Song (Instrumental+Backing Vocals)

03:54
Here is the instrumental+backing vocals version the Flim Flam Brothers Song. These Ponyville ponies love cider so much that their spontaneous singing and chanting "Cider! Cider! Cider!" invaded all the audio channels! An interesting side note, on his Twitter, Daniel Ingram gave "huge props" to Orchetect for the orchestration of this song. Orchetect aka Steffan Andrews works with Ingram on the songs and is yet another person we can shower with praise for creating such excellent music on the show! I will probably make a karaoke (on-screen lyrics) version of this eventually, it's pretty much perfect for it.

"Rainbow's Task” - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic BGM

00:23
“Rainbow's Task” BGM from the episode “Grannies Gone Wild” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S08E05). --Overall Comments-- This is an episode title in My Little Pony... In this week's episode, Rainbow wants, no, needs to ride a rollercoaster in Las Pegasus, but after making a deal with Applejack to cover her classes, is stuck with Ganny Smith and her older friends. Trying to keep a promise to AJ to keep them out of trouble and intense situation, Rainbow is stuck between the rollercoaster and keeping the Grannies safe. This hilarious episode is filled with a surprising amount of score and returning themes, although many of the tracks are fairly short. While the big-band jazz score from the previous Las Pegasus episode does not return, a few other cues from that episode return, as well as some new score and motifs just for this episode. A few tracks to talk about today, so let's dive in! --Track Specific Comments-- Applejack informs Rainbow Dash of her task if she is to cover for her class and allow her to go to Las Pegasus. To match Applejack and the rest of the Apple family in the scene, a familiar banjo cue is utilized. (Watch in 1080p!)
