Note: The beta good ending has some strange implications about Hanako that were not revealed in the final version of the game. Searching boards about Katawa Shoujo confirms some of them, so browse at your own risk.
Note: Seeing as how this is a multi-language game, and this is still a beta version, there are many grammar errors lurking in Hanako's routes. The art and scenery and music are complete in Hanako's True Ending.
Note: I took the liberty of replacing the .oggs with their finalized counterparts, but the script specifically calls for the beta version of Painful History at one point and the final version in another, which is no doubt something the repairers did.
The beta version of Hanako's path contains three bad endings, all of which take place in Act 4 - Mors Mortis (Latin for "Death" or "Cause of death/destruction.") However, in the "Hanatrue" Route, you go to an alternate Act 4 - Heterotic Strings. Eventually this even leads into the only Act 5 to ever exist in Katawa Shoujo - Elucidation.
Once you went through all of these bad endings, there would be a divergence inside Lilly's route. Lilly would end up in the hospital, but she would tell you to take care of Hanako. You could either choose to take care of Lilly, or take care of Hanako. If you chose Hanako, you would enable the "Hanatrue" route, leading you into Hanako's Good Ending. However, the area in-game that this was actually supposed to happen at is unknown. Furthermore, if you make the choice to take care of Hanako, the game would just play out from that point without any other choices to make. That one choice is the thing that doesn't enable psychotic Hanako, so I think we can all agree it is worth it.
As for the actual route itself, it has a completed script with images, story, music, everything. I'm going to comment on the fact that the sex scenes didn't actually feel relevant to the story at all. The first H-scene was even more awkward than the final version, since Hanako was practically begging for more. Oh, and yes, I did just say the first sex scene. There is a second one without any images aside from the normal background of Hanako's room, which takes place after they go to Aura-Mart to buy condoms. These did not feel emotional at all, they felt like they were just put into this for brain-dead fanservice. But hey, that's why it is a beta that was severely changed. The rest of the route is actually worth watching, and it even becomes rather comical.
Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character. This is the beta.
