Understanding the Lightroom Catalog System
Article Link: http://www.slrlounge.com/school/understanding-the-lightroom-catalog-system The Lightroom catalog is simply a container, or even better, a database of information that applies to the images contained within. What you are actually seeing in the Lightroom catalog are not the images themselves, but rather preview renderings of those images with whatever develop settings you have applied. Deleting a Lightroom catalog does not mean that you are deleting the images, but rather just the catalog information on ratings, keywords, develop settings, etc. Also, moving a Lightroom catalog file doesn't move the images along with it. For this reason, it is important to have a good organizational system for your Lightroom catalogs and the images therein. From here on out in this tutorial series, we want you all to work along with us. So, you can either load up your own working files, or you can download the exact working files that we will be using. In the next video, we will start by creating our catalog, then importing and working on our images. Note: These images have been provided to the SLR Lounge users curteousy of Lin and Jirsa Photography for educational purposes only. They may not be used in any other manner outside of these SLR Lounge learning videos without the express written consent of Lin and Jirsa Photography. Thank you.

Moving Your Photos To A Larger Hard Drive Without Upsetting Lightroom Classic
(FREE TUTORIAL) How To Move Your Photos To A Larger Hard Drive Without Upsetting Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic You would think that moving your entire photo library from a small drive over to a bigger disk would be easy, but for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic users this is actually a rather complex process. In this video tutorial, I am going to show you how to move all of your photos to a larger hard drive without upsetting Lightroom Classic. I need to stress that what I do in this video is not an image backup system. What we are going to do today is to replace one storage device with another. The link below will take you to my in-depth tutorial on how to backup all of your photography and your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Catalog using external hard drives: https://www.focusphotoschool.com/adobe-photoshop-lightroom/adobe-photoshop-lightroom-setup/lightroom-backup/ As you will see throughout this video, I am going to use a wonderful utility called *Carbon Copy Cloner* for this project. Mac users, follow the link below to download a free trial version of this wonderful software. https://bombich.com/ There is a free utility from Microsoft out there called the *Windows SyncToy* for you PC users that will just fine for this project. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15155 If you are playing along with the Windows SyncToy then be sure that you nail down the Windows drive letter assignment system for all of your external devices before you begin this project. And be sure to set up a one-way, a left to right, style sync only. Two-way syncing could be disastrous for you Windows users! Finally, I need to warn you that there is an element of risk involved in this process. Moving all of your photos to a larger hard drive without upsetting Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic is nothing to fear but this is serious business. So please rewind this video as often as you need and don't jump into this process until you are sure that you have redundant reliable backups. ------------ Learn Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, Adobe Lightroom for Mobile, Snapseed from Google, and more with our complete video training courses at http://www.focusphotoschool.com.
