American TRAVELS to Kolkata on VISTARA Premium Economy (MAA - CCU)

14:38
Back in November of 2018, I traveled back to India, making it my second trip to the country in less than a year. This time around, I spent 18 days exploring seven completely new cities and discovering more of India’s rich culinary, cultural, and historical wonders. I also got to do it all with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey, which made everything even better! Subscribe to Sam & Audrey: https://www.youtube.com/user/BackpackingTravelTV When traveling, you must always prepare for the unexpected and that’s exactly what happened when our time in Chennai was cut short due to an approaching tropical cyclone! So we wouldn’t be stuck in the city during the storm, we decided to make the journey to Kolkata a day early at 5:30 in the morning. Come along with us as we travel from Chennai to Kolkata! Subscribe & Click the Bell for 2+ Videos Per Week ► http://bit.ly/DBH-SUB My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere After a stressful start to the day that involved several Uber cancellations, we finally got a ride to the airport. While we were a little bummed that we didn’t get three full days in Chennai that we initially planned, we looked back on our time in the city (especially our Marina Beach visit, our trip to a local temple, and the incredible seafood) fondly as we rode to the airport. Plus, it gave us an extra day in Kolkata. After a 15- to 20-minute ride with practically no traffic, we arrived at the Chennai airport but had to do some extra walking because our driver let us out at the wrong place. My luggage was overweight again, but we were upgraded to Premium Economy, which is the same price, gives us more leg room, and provides a hot meal. The airport consisted of one huge terminal. There was also a food court, which had lots of American eateries like Subway and KFC. I got a double espresso at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, while Sam bought a cappuccino and a muffin. The coffee was black and so strong, just the way I like it! Just before we headed out, we met one of Sam’s fans who happened to be at the airport, too. Our flight was on Vistara Airlines, which is a part of Singapore Airlines, which I love. It was our first time flying Premium Economy and it was amazing! The service was great and it was nice to have so much leg room. For our in-flight meal, we went with a multigrain omelet with beans, chicken sausage, a croissant, jam, fruit, and orange juice to have a brief break from northern and southern Indian food. The omelet was great, definitely heavy and fatty, but I needed it because I was starving. I had an after mint afterward, which was a nice palette cleanser. After some turbulence, which we both hate as frequent fliers, we finally landed in Kolkata, the second-to-last city on our seven-city trip. Also known as the City of Joy, Kolkata was founded by the East India Trading Company. Because of its history, there’s a lot of British colonial architecture in the city. It’s the third-largest metro area in India behind Delhi and Mumbai and also has a large Chinese population, so I couldn’t wait to have some Chinese food there! We requested an Uber and took a 45-minute ride through the city, we reached our Airbnb, which is located in a nice, suburban neighborhood on the south end of the city called Lake Gardens, which has tight streets lined with very colorful buildings. We pulled up to our building and met our Airbnb host outside. I couldn’t wait to start our adventures in Kolkata! I hope you enjoyed this video of me and Sam traveling from Chennai to Kolkata! My travels in India – western Himalaya with Audley Travel

00:33
Take a journey across India’s western Himalaya, from riverfront puja ceremonies in Haridwar to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Audley specialist Nick filmed this footage on a research trip, picking out some of his most memorable experiences of journeying through India’s western foothills. Navigating the mountainous landscape was an experience in itself — for part of the trip you can travel on Shimla’s narrow-gauge toy train and the (less well-known but just as good) Kangra Valley Railway. As you’ll see from his footage, trips across this region could take you to Amritsar’s Golden Temple which, reflected in its surrounding pool, rivals the Taj Mahal for awe-inspiring architecture. Visitors are welcomed into its community kitchen, where you can help make chapattis, before sitting down to eat a simple meal alongside fellow volunteers. We recommend staying into the evening, when the gilded temple really begins to gleam against the night sky. You could watch the eccentric military spectacle that occurs each evening at India’s border with Pakistan or stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Hindu devotees as they float oil lamps down the Ganges River in Haridwar. You'll find more ideas for how to explore the western foothills in this travel guide: https://www.audleytravel.com/india/country-guides/india-western-foothills Connect with Audley: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/audleytravel/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/audleytravel Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/audleytravel

A Taste Of India: Ep 2 - Backpacking from Goa To Kerala

39:13
Watch my first trip to India in this travel documentary, as I spent 6 weeks backpacking around the country. I spent 3 weeks backpacking through the cities of the north and then another 3 weeks in the beaches and backwaters of the south. Episode 2 of this travel documentary is the southern half of ny journey. Starting in Goa I enjoyed the different beaches and vibes of north and south Goa, including Vagator, Arambol and Palolem beach. I then travelled inland to the beautiful ancient ruins of Hampi. Working my way further south I relax on a canoe through the stunning Kerala backwaters, before finishing my trip in the cool beach town of Varkala. --------------------- Watch more films --------------------- SUBSCRIBE to my channel: http://bit.ly/KarlWatsonTravelDocs Visit website: http://www.karlwatson.net --------------------- Social Media --------------------------- Facebook: http://fb.com/karlwatsondocs Twitter: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocstwitter Instagram: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocsinsta Merchandise: https://teespring.com/stores/karl-watson-travel-docs-store --------------------- Equipment --------------------------- Sony A7s: https://amzn.to/2NAqCJA Sony 28-70mm Lens: https://amzn.to/2O8IPgV RodeGo Mic: https://amzn.to/2ONrW8p Rode DeadCat: https://amzn.to/2zsuBzr Shoot Tripod: https://amzn.to/2O8w9q5 GoPro Hero 6: https://amzn.to/2NADsaE GoPro Monopod: https://amzn.to/2zrnEOM DJI MavicPro Drone: https://amzn.to/2zrPafg MavicPro Case: https://amzn.to/2zsINbs MacBook Pro: https://amzn.to/2NA2NSe WD Elements 4TB Hard Drive: https://amzn.to/2zsEpJo Software used: Final Cut X, Adobe After Effects --------------------- About Karl Watson --------------------- My name’s Karl, welcome to my channel that’s all about sharing my backpacking adventures from around the world, through fun, entertaining and honest travel documentaries. Come join us as our India Trip continues from Pune to Hyderabad in this travel vlog as we show our delay at the airport, tasty meal (chicken lolipop and beer) and getting to our airbnb in Hyderabad super late in the morning. David's Been Here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Davidsbeenhere Our time in Pune was short but sweet. We ate some incredible food, visited some fascinating attractions and met up with two really cool guides; however, we really only had less than 2 days and it would have been nice to have extra time to do some cool day trips. My travels in South India (Kerala) and Sri Lanka with Audley Travel

01:42
Audley specialist Matt speaks of his trip to Kerala and Sri Lanka. Kerala and Sri Lanka is the dream combination – I was fortunate to visit both on my recent trip with Audley. I spent the first part of the trip trying to compare the two, but soon realised this was futile and took to enjoying the unique offerings of each. In Kerala one of the highlights was a trip through the backwaters. I enjoyed a two night cruise taking in small villages, rivers and waterways, showing the people whose livelihood is entwined with these amazing waters. Getting out on a bike ride was the perfect way to see these colourful communities from the inside. In Sri Lanka it was the scenery; the bright green paddy fields, orange dirt roads and beautiful sunsets making it the most photogenic country I have ever visited. The huge population of wild elephants keeps you on your toes too!

Female Solo Travel In India - Offers From Men

06:08
I'm solo traveling in Chennai India and I had a typical interaction with an indian guy that I met. But as a female tourist in India, traveling alone, it's vital to handle offers from men carefully to ensure I stay safe when traveling on my own. People always ask me "is india safe?" and "but is it safe for a woman traveling alone in India?" And to that I say, in general I find it to be quite safe. But I'm also careful about boundaries. India Specialist Alison captured this footage with a GoPro on a recent trip to Kerala where she visited Dewalokam, an Audley favourite, set in the middle of its own spice farm, as well as the iconic backwaters and the cooler hill stations further inland. While in Kerala she observed various craftsmen at work, sampled the delicious Keralan cuisine as well as watching the world go by while drifting through the waterways on a traditional Keralan Kayak. Watch Video here: http://tinyurl.com/jr2efug Our Story Life is crazy! The tide smashes even the best-laid plans to sand… and so it goes! This is a story about two people, who met by chance, were bound by fate and who continue to let the quirky side of life guide their paths! How else could a young man from a tiny town in Albania and a farm girl from the mountains of Montana meet in the middle, with a life guided by adventure? We met in Rome. Engjell was a waiter in a little Roman restaurant down by Trevi Fountain and I was a student abroad, spending a year in the Eternal City. There are some pretty cheesy movies about the giggly American girl meeting the handsome foreigner abroad, who then spend all their time bombing around ancient ruins on a shiny moped, hair blowing in the wind and smiles from ear to ear. And yet… serendipity delivers! We did fall in love and he did have a moped… In 2006, we moved back to the United States. We returned as a family of three, as little Fiona had been born in Rome at FateBeneFratelli, the hospital on an island… where all the Roman babies have been born for centuries! We moved often, looking for the perfect place. In 2010, we found an opportunity to open our own restaurant in Bigfork, Montana. We spent seven years and thousands of hours bringing the flavors of Italy to rural Montana. We were doing well! We were successful and busy and had finally bought our own home… we had a mortgage and car payments and a full-time, ultra-demanding job! We opened a second restaurant! We even added two more family members with the addition of Hugo and Remy! We were living the dream! Or were we? On the outside, it looked like we had it all… that success had reached out its hand and we had graciously accepted. But in reality, we were working 80-100 hours each per week, we rarely saw our three beautiful kids who knew the nanny better than they did us, and we were burned out… from too much work, from too little time spent together as a family, from life! We had bought into the well-oiled idea of success and were realizing quickly the fatal flaws in our plan. So we decided, together, to give it all up! We took the giant, terrifying, leap and sold it all to travel on a shoestring budget and let life teach us again, teach us anew, of what it looks like to be a successful human being! We are just beginning on this wonderful adventure! We have been traveling the U.S. for a year as a family in a motorhome. We are every day astounded by the diversity and creativity of both humans and Mother Nature. In July, we will set off for a one year trip around the world! This time, too, food and wine lead our adventure. We hope to dig deep into every culture as we go, unearthing culinary tradition everywhere we go! We plan to travel to places where we can stage and work in restaurants and vineyards to learn more and to ultimately be able to take what we have learned and start fresh…inspired, changed… wherever we end up. This trip is about re-defining success! It is about food and wine…about a plate of pasta or a shared bottle of wine, about experiences! It is about family and figuring out how we all fit together and what life’s REAL plan for us is! We invite you to join us in this crazy adventure as we travel the world! Engjell, Kaleigh, Fiona, Hugo and Remy

My Daily Life in the SLUMS OF MUMBAI (Life-Changing 5 Days)

16:50
Learn how I started traveling full-time at 19: http://bit.ly/TravelingAt19 Catch me and meet me during my travels: http://bit.ly/MeetWithJacob Free $34 AirBnb credit for your next trip: http://bit.ly/AirBnb34Coupon Two and a half years ago, during my first visit in India, I spent 2 days walking all around the slums of Mumbai. Even though I got to learn quite a bit about the life in the slums, I didn’t have the chance to live inside the slums and because of that I left with more questions than answers. So now that I came back to India for the second time, I decided to go back to Mumbai and spend five days living in Dharavi, which is one of the largest slums in the world. This experience opened my eyes in ways I couldn’t have imagined, because I got to spend so much time with the local people, who completely transformed my outlook on what their lives were like. You see, as most outsiders, I had a very distorted view of the people of the slums. We grow up hearing stories about them dying on the streets, no one being able to read and write, kids having to sleep surrounded by flesh-eating rats and so on. There are, of course, tons of problems that need to be addressed, especially when it comes to sanitation. For example, sources say that in Dharavi there is an average of 1 toilet for a thousand people. Also, livestock generally lives in the same quarters with people and that, combined with the fact that the local water sources lack cleaning facilities, sometimes causes the spread of contagious diseases. However, people there are just like everywhere else. They have their own dreams, goals, careers, thoughts and emotions. They are in no way different from the rest of us. It doesn’t matter where we come from. We are all equal. Some of us are born with golden spoons in our mouths, others are not. But that doesn’t define us. What defines us is our pursuit of happiness, our compassion for others and our ability to adapt to whatever circumstances we’re in and make the best of them. Subscribe! 5 Months in India: FIND YOUR ZEN

11:52
"There’s a special feeling you get when you travel to a distant land. It’s like suddenly you’ve arrived not only in a new place, but in a new state of mind..." This video captures some of the highlights of my travels in India over the past several months- during which I had plenty of time to reflect on the ups and downs of traveling, and on life in general. What gets us traveling in the first place? Where are we headed? Can our dreams ever match up to our reality? And in the midst of it all, how do we find true peace, that paradise of the mind...how do you find your ZEN? All clips were shot on my iPhone around Rishikesh, Delhi, Kerala, Goa, Coimbatore, Chennai, and a few other spots. HOW TO DEAL WITH SELFIES IN INDIA AS A FOREIGNER! - India Travel Tips

13:46
It's no secret that Selfies in India are a big thing and since being in India for the last 6 weeks not only have I noticed that Indian's love a selfie of themselves but they also love a selfie with foreigners, aka a lot of white people! I knew to expect this when I arrived in India and in some ways it has been better than I thought but in some ways it was been worse! In this video I go through: WHY Indians ask foreigners for selfies (although hint, i'm not 100% sure and would love to know more in the comments). WHERE they ask for them which is usually in tourist sites like Forts, Palaces and Temples. WHO asks for them because I thought it would just be men but actually it's women, teenagers and couples asking both foreign men and women. HOW they ask for them as sometimes they don't even say anything , theyjust hold the camera up and expect one, other times they asking saying 'ma'm selfie?' And sometimes it's a sneaky selfie when you don't even know it's being taken! Finally WHEN when to say yes and when to say no based on my experience and preference! I hope this helps travellers to India know what to expect when they come to India and are asked for a selfie, and helps Indian's understand it from a foreigners point of view! Thank you for watching. GETTING A SIM CARD IN INDIA | INDIA TRAVEL TIPS

04:18
I thought I'd do a video on getting a SIM card in India. SIM cards in India take some work but I finally got my Indian SIM card with a data plan.. This means that I can finally surf the internet. (Written post online: http://grrrltraveler.com/countries/asia/india-asia/tip-hotels-india/getting-a-sim-card-in-india/) I went ahead and got a data plan that cost me 1800 no, 1,081 rupees. I put on around 50 or 60 rupees onto my talk time. Altogether that was the total I spent on my one sim and a data plan. And that was for a 10GB 3 G speed plan. It's unlimited but then after 5GB, it slows down to 2g... and god knows what else. Read more on: How much does an Indian SIM cost? Where can you buy your indian sim? I'm currently based in Bangalore because India is my favourite country in the world. Travel in India is kind of my thing but I've been al over the world. Just check these playlists to begin your journey with me: https://bit.ly/2l4sMk4 FAQ's: Q Where are you from? A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story: https://bit.ly/2l17T9h Q How can you afford to travel so much? A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: https://youtu.be/vxfjQO_F1vE and this one: https://youtu.be/dB7plg139wQ to learn more about my story. Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use? A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X Q (Why) Are you vegetarian? A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-) Q Why do you usually travel alone? A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own. Q Why do you love India so much? A Watch this video: http://bit.ly/2iyUKkc and this one: https://youtu.be/Sh7E9VisTKQ

LAVISH Indian APARTMENT Tour in Ganapathy Colony | Chennai, India

07:43
My trip to India in November of 2018 is one of my favorite trips I’ve ever taken in my life. Everything about this country—its people, its history, its architecture, its food—has made me fall in love with it so much that I find myself wanting to go back again and again. This was my second trip to India, which I took with my good friend Sam from Samuel and Audrey, and I’m already planning a third trip for the spring of 2019! Subscribe to Sam & Audrey: https://www.youtube.com/user/BackpackingTravelTV With our time in Chennai coming to an unexpectedly quick end because of an approaching tropical cyclone, I decided to give you guys a quick tour of the Airbnb Sam and I stayed at before we headed off to the airport. Join me as I show you all of the amenities and rooms of our lavish apartment! Subscribe & Click the Bell for 2+ Videos Per Week ► http://bit.ly/DBH-SUB My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere We started our day at 4 a.m. so we had plenty of time to get out of the city and head to our next destination, Kolkata. While we were in Chennai, Sam and I stayed at a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury apartment in Ganapathy Colony locality in the city center. It’s located in a very nice building with a gate, a car park, and a doorman who gives you your key when you check in. Staying cool in Chennai is key, as it was still 90 degrees even at 4 a.m. during the winter! I took the air-conditioned elevator up to our apartment, which was unit A3 on the third floor. Inside, it’s very modern and spacious, with a nice couch, a small table, and TV in the living room. Just off the living room is a nice dresser that you can use for storage and across from that is the dining room, which contains a table, a closet, an ironing board, and a refrigerator. One of the best things about this apartment is that there is air conditioning in each room, which makes the hot, sweltering weather much more manageable. Next, I give you a look at the master bedroom, which is spacious and contains a big, comfortable queen-sized bed with nice pillows and tons of drawer and closet space for your things, which makes this a great place to spend multiple nights. There’s also a small workstation and a tiny terrace where you can open the windows. It’s my favorite master bedroom of the entire trip so far! Off the master bathroom is a standard Indian bathroom. The great thing about this bathroom compared to the other ones we’ve had in India is that this one has a shower curtain, so you don’t get water all over the rest of the bathroom when you take a shower! There’s also a water heater, a sink with an extended faucet, and a medicine cabinet. The second bedroom is smaller, with a queen-sized, lots of closet space, and a small table where you can work. Just off the bedroom is another standard Indian bathroom that’s actually larger than the one for the master bedroom, and has a door that opens to the living room. Next up is the very modern kitchen, with a stovetop, double sink, cabinets filled with cups and bowls, a water purifier, a microwave, and a washing machine. It’s easily my favorite kitchen we’ve had on our trip so far! Off the kitchen is a nice, little terrace, and outside the kitchen is a small sink where you can wash your hands. Religious hand-washing is essential when you come to India. You have to keep your hands clean! As we wrap up the tour, I take a quick look back at my quick stay in Chennai, including the beautiful sites and attractions we visited as well as the delicious and spicy food we had there, especially the seafood. But now it’s time to look forward to Kolkata! If you liked this luxury apartment tour in Chennai, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below.
