Color Theory Basics
A crash course on color theory where I talk about color mixing, nerdy vocabulary terms and color schemes! Show Notes: http://www.simplearttips.com/simple-art-tips-blog/20 REFERENCES: Design Principles and Problems second edition by Paul Zelanski and Mary Pat Fisher http://tinyurl.com/ptwat4t Tigercolor.com http://tinyurl.com/phyundh NOTE: This is the conventional way of teaching color theory, which is used in most art schools. Although it works, technically it is incorrect, as it was pointed out in the comments. Principles of Light and Color Measurement
The properties of light that stimulate the eye and build our visual perception—when thoughtfully designed into lighted devices—can create unrivalled visual experiences. Thanks to well-established scientific methods, we can quantify the human eye’s response to light in a mathematical context for use in optical metrology. Light measurement systems like imaging photometers and colorimeters use CIE-matched optical filters and scientific CCDs to apply these methods, capturing meaningful data that guide human-centric design and evaluation of many of today’s devices. Using photometric technology, manufacturers can leverage the standard principles of light and color measurement in design and production to best assess the visual quality of displays, backlit components, and light sources—as they are actually seen and experienced by human users. This provides manufacturers with the means to achieve absolute product quality. Join a webinar hosted by Shannon Roberts, Product Manager at Radiant Vision Systems, as she presents the basic principles of light and color measurement. Shannon will discuss the foundation of photometry and introduce photometric technologies that leverage these principles to accurately quantify the human visual response to ensure quality in light and display products. Topics include: -- How the human eye responds to light and color -- Quantifying color based on CIE tristimulus curves -- Technology designed to replicate human visual response -- Optical metrology systems and benefits of imaging for light measurement

Do you understand color correction? Here's a quick overview...
I want to talk to you a little bit about making color adjustments to images. Now, before you can really adjust or manipulated an image you first need to understand a little bit about the process. When using raw file formats or images displayed on screen we're generally talking about images that are made up of red green and blue. However, if we're talking about images that are destined for ink production as in commercial printing we're talking about inks that use a cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Now before leaping into editing software I actually think it's first important to understand a little bit about the colors themselves and how they interact with each other before you can really start to make adjustments. In this tutorial, I start off by showing you a graph displaying the primary colors (Red, Green & Blue) and their opposite secondary colors (Cyan, Magenta & Yellow). When editing photos, we manipulate these colors on raw files (or RGB files) in image editing software like Photoshop. Therefore, an understanding the colors and their opposites is a very important part of the process. I then take you into Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom to start understanding how to manipulating the color… I hope you enjoy this tutorial - Please share with your photography friends, Thank you, Karl Taylor ********************* Don't miss the next LIVE online photography workshop: http://bit.ly/karl-taylor-online-workshops

Design Principles - Colour (experimenting with opening title)
Experimenting with opening credits and sound. I got the idea from a poster designed by Jan Tschichold - http://c20thdesign.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/discourse1.jpg I placed the bar following the rule of thirds we'd discussed in class. This means that there are a few more 'chapter headings' (colour jux, advance, recede) that can't be seen at the beginning which I think makes this opening a bit deceptive... The bar is too thick as well.

Fascism in Colour
Before the iron fist of Stalin, before Hitler, before even Franco there was Il Duce - Benito Mussolini, master of the filmed image, and his Blackshirts - his fascisti. Now, for the first time on television, the dramatic and violent story of the original Fascist movement is told... in colour. Fascism in Colour is a two-part film on Benito Mussolini and fascism, presented for the first time in colour. It is the story of fascism's violent roots, and its dream of restoring the glories of the Roman Empire. Benito Mussolini became well known as the leader of the National Fascist Party and the main founder of fascism after his return from WWI. The war had altered his outlook on life; once a reformer, he became obsessed with the idea of power and started to refer to himself as Il Duce. His apparent successes and glorification of violence encouraged Adolf Hitler to organise Germany on the same fascist principles. "Fascism in Colour" provides a fascinating yet disturbing account of Il Duce's desire for power, his totalitarian dictatorship and his alliance with Hitler that led to the death of 55 million people. Based on descriptions of events written at the time; letters, diary entries, secret memos and telephone taps, this is a truly remarkable record of the man who ultimately became Hitler's pawn. Rare archival colour footage keeps Il Duce's arrogance and his ruthless rule of violence, intimidation and murder very much alive. Produced and Directed by Chris Oxley; An IWC Media co-production for Channel Five in association with Discovery Channel

Principles of Light and Color Edwin Babbitt
Principles of Light and Color - Edwin Babbitt This video is purely fan made for educational purposes only. It is in no way associated with the musical artist. This is a mammoth work integrating science and art and spiritual truths on the Essence of Light. This ground breaking work is almost impossible to find in its original and complete form, but certainly deserves to be made available. Yes, it did take a great deal of scanning and editing in order to get it completed as near as possible to the author's stated wishes ... using color in book as he had intended but could not due to printers of the late 1800s. Its ethereal-metaphysical topics include: The Harmonic Laws of the Universe; the Etherio-Atomic Philosophy of Force; Chromo Chemistry; Chromo Therapeutics; and the General Philosophy of the fine Forces, and much more. This is the original complete version that is very hard to find. Color Blindness explained in a simple manner. Principles of Inheritance and Variation, Botany XII
Color Blindness explained in a simple manner. Principles of Inheritance and Variation, Botany XII XY Method (XX-XY): It occurs in mammals and many insects with females having homomorphic XX sex chromosomes and males possessing heteromorphic XY-chromosomes. Y is shorter, may be hooked (as in Drosophila). XY chromosomes synapse during zygotene. They have two parts, homologous and differential. Homologous regions of the two take part in synapsis. They carry similar genes, called X-Y linked genes, e.g., Xeroderma pigmentosum, epidermolysis bullosa. The differential or non-homologous region of Y-chromosome is mostly heterochromatic. The euchromatic part of differential region of this chromosome has holandric genes like TDF (testis determining factor) or SRY (sex determining region), ZFY (sperm formation), Pϕ2V, hypertrichosis (excessive hairiness) of pinna, porcupine skin, keratoderma dissipatum (thickened skin of extremities) and webbed toes. Holandric genes are transferred directly from father to son. Genes present of differential region of X-chromosome also find expression in males (sex-linked traits) whether they are recessive or dominant because males are hemizygous for these genes, e.g., red-green colour blindness, haemophilia. Male is heterogametic (A + Y, A + X, in human beings 22 + Y and 22 + X) while female is homogametic (A + X, in human beings 22 + X). The two types of male gametes or sperms are called androsperms (22 + Y) and gynosperms (22 + X). XY sex determination is found in many bryophytes (females A + X, males A + Y) and angiosperms Melandrium (Lychnis), Coccinia, Salix, Elodea, etc. Sex is decided at the time of fertilization. It is known as syngametic sex determination. Red-Green Colour Blindness/ Colour Blindness/ Daltonism (Horner, 1876): It is a recessive sex-linked defect in which human beings are unable to distinguish red and green colours. Cobra Water Mixable Oils - Lesson 8 - Colour Mixing
• Cobra Water Mixable Oil Colour at Jackson's: http://www.jacksonsart.com/Brands-A-Z_All_Brands-Royal_Talens-Cobra_Artist_Water_Mixable_Oil_Colour/c2200_1044_1073_35849/index.html In the final lesson you will learn all about colour - What is colour? How do we actually see colour? Don explains all the basic principles for mixing colours and how you can use a few basic colours to make practically any colour. Cobra Water Mixable Oil Colours provide a perfect oil paint result with a uniform drying time and degree of gloss. Painting with Cobra paints is much like painting with traditional oils. The paint can be applied using all the usual oil paint techniques. The colour, as well as the brush stroke or applied texture, retains its full expression after the paint has dried; the paint remains as it was when applied. Making PURPLE work for You ‘[Series 1] Learn To Enjoy Colour Mixing for All Media with Paul Taggart’
Making PURPLE work for You ‘[Series 1] Learn To Enjoy Colour Mixing for All Media with Paul Taggart’ - NOW RELEASED - https://vimeo.com/ondemand/colourmixingpurple Although Artist & Author Paul Taggart uses watercolours for the mixes and diagrammatic demonstrations in some of these videos THE PRINCIPLES FOR COLOUR MIXING ARE COMMON TO ALL MEDIA – watercolours are used here simply on practical grounds in relation to showing the colours. "Every artist develops their own palette of preferred colours, but to arrive at this selection requires knowledge of not only the available colours, but how colours work with each other to produce successful mixes. Colour Mixing is every bit as important in making a composition work as thumbnails and perspective. With colour control you can communicate with your viewer, tell a story or evoke a mood - hence the phrase 'to paint a picture'. You would not be alone in thinking that colour mixing is a daunting prospect; every artist has been through this at some point - even professional artists such as myself. I guarantee however that it needn't be so - for colour mixing is actually about some basic and simple principles” Welcome to ‘Learn to Enjoy Colour Mixing with Paul Taggart’ – https://vimeo.com/ondemand/colourmixingseries1 - A COLLECTION OF BUILD-UP SERIES that will grow into a comprehensive index of colour mixing tutorials intended to cover everything from the basic principles of the colour circle and colour mixing, through to series dedicated to practical colour mixing tutorials in each of the three principal wet media plus one dedicated to the dry media of pastels. YOU WILL DEFINITELY FIND YOURSELF WANTING TO WORK ALONG WITH Artist & Author Paul Taggart as he helps you discover the delight in achieving ninety-five percent of the colours you will ever need from A CORE PALETTE OF SIX COLOURS – see https://vimeo.com/ondemand/colourmixingseries1 This box-set is about MAKING PURPLE WORK FOR YOU in a simple, easy-to-follow set of tutorials; the purpose of which is to show you how YOU can learn to CONTROL COLOUR MIXES, rather than all of those tubes of colour being in control of you. THREE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES apply to changing any colour mix, which you need to understand to EFFECTIVELY MIX PURPLES – HUE, VALUE and INTENSITY. YOU WILL LEARN HOW to identify all three and how to correctly achieve the required mixes, WORKING with TRANSPARENT MEDIA and with OPAQUE MEDIA. Finally you are taken through two detailed step-by-step colour mixing practice studies of a subject where purple is the principal secondary. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTIONS FOR EACH VIDEO. As with all of Paul’s tutorials, these are filmed in real time and you not only get to watch every colour mix, but you are gently guided through the entire process with Paul’s running commentary explaining each and every aspect of the basic colour circle and nucleus palette of six colours. See this series as a step-by-step guide that will take you on the first steps of your new journey into the wonderful world of colour mixing – one that will definitely enhance your painting experience as you come to understand the nature of colour, how to exploit it and how to manipulate your colour mixes to enrich and enliven your artworks. PRACTICE THE BASICS LEARNT IN EACH TUTORIAL AND YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF PREPARED FOR THE NEXT STAGE.
