Tokyo's Secret Island Paradise | AOGASHIMA ★ ONLY in JAPAN

24:50
Jurassic Park may be the first thing that comes to mind when you see Aogashima Island from the air - but yes, THIS IS TOKYO! It's famous for having a volcano inside a volcano surrounded by dense jungle. It's also considered the smallest town in Japan and the hardest place in Japan to get to. There is no direct transportation to Aogashima. These facts are what make Aogashima the best kept secret in Tokyo! ★ The Ogasawara video is out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3TtGXAoTvA Travel 1000km further for Tokyo's distant island paradise! The island is unspoiled. The pristine jungles and beautiful ocean views are like scenes from the movies. HOW TO GET TO AOGASHIMA Air ▶︎ Haneda Airport (Tokyo) to Hachijojima / 50 minutes ▶︎ Helicopter to Aogashima - 20 minutes / 11,530 Yen Note: You have to take the first flight to catch the helicopter or spend the night. Only 1 helicopter flight per day. Sea (Ferry) ▶︎ Takeshiba Pier (Tokyo) to Hachijojima 11-12 hours / Tokai Kisen Line / ▶︎ Hachijojima to Aogashima / 3 hours / Izu Shoto Kaihatsu Line Note: The ferry to Aogashima is often canceled so don't rely on this if you need to be back to Tokyo for a flight etc. It can be delayed for as long as 1 week depending on weather! WHY IS THIS THE HARDEST PLACE TO GET TO? The town is located 200 meters up off the sea. There is no airport and this island is only accessible by helicopter and ferry. The port is one of the most challenging to dock at in the world so when the sea is rough or the wind is too strong, ferries are often canceled. Visitors may be stranded here for a week or more if the weather turns bad. MUST SEE PLACES on AOGASHIMA ★ Ao-Chu Shochu distillery ★ Aogashima heliport ★ The volcanic island steamer (for lunch) ★ The island sauna ★ Oyamatenbo Park (Observation Area) for the view over the crater and the sky at night ★ Aogashima Port ★ Maruyama & Shrine FOOD TO TRY ★ Torinabe (Chicken Soup Pot) ★ Ashitaba (an island leaf / herb that's used in cooking) ★ Island fish in season Note: you can ask your inn about trying these at scheduled meals THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT VISITING AOGASHIMA 1) You must have a reservation to stay somewhere before arriving. Lodging is limited. Call ahead, even for camping. 2) There is an ATM at the post office but come with cash just in case 3) Helicopters are often sold out a month in advance. Ferry tickets are easy to get but your departure date may not be convenient. 4) Walking is possible everywhere but many tourists rent a car. Other tourists may pick you up if you hitchhike. It takes 80 minutes to walk from the heliport to Aogashima pier. Japanese defense forces have had secret intelligence units abroad since Cold War: Kyodo

01:44
http://www.arirang.co.kr/News/News_Index.asp Subscribe:http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=arirangnews Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force spies are said to have secretly gathered intelligence abroad since the Cold War era without informing the prime minister or defense minister. Sohn Jung-in has the details. Kyodo News Agency reported Wednesday that Japan's Ground Self-Defense Forces have secret intelligence units in several countries, including South Korea, that operate without a legal basis. According to the agency, Japan's prime ministers and defense ministers were not aware of the existence of the spy organization nor its activities overseas. The members of the secret unit are said to have finished courses on defense against psychological warfare at a GSDF school in Kodaira in Tokyo before joining the units. The report said that the spies engaged in intelligence activities in the former Soviet Union, China and North Korea at three different bases overseas during the Cold War, and that recently, they have been gathering intelligence in South Korea, Russia and Poland. The units have been reporting the information they've gathered to the chief of the Ground Staff Office and the Defense Intelligence Headquarters. Many Japanese have been surprised at the recent revelations and say that maintaining an intelligence team without the knowledge of the prime minister or defense minister is a violation of the self-defense forces' principles. This comes after the news that the Japanese government is seeking to pass a state secrets protection bill that would impose stricter penalties on those that reveal state secrets. Sohn Jung-in, Arirang News.

Japan: Tokyo police increase security at Imperial Hotel ahead of Trump's visit

01:21
Tokyo police were seen securing the area around the Imperial Hotel, on Sunday, ahead of US President Donald Trump's arrival in the nation's capital. He will be staying in the hotel during his stay. Road blocks were in place and police officers were checking vehicles around the area, all in an effort to tighten security as Trump is due to arrive later in the day. Over 10,000 Tokyo police officers are reportedly being mobilised for the duration of the US President's visit. During his two-day visit to Japan, Trump is set to hold bilateral meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and also meet US service personnel serving in Japan. Japan is Trump's first stop on a twelve day tour of Asia, which will also take him to South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Why Japanese Live So Long ★ ONLY in JAPAN

17:02
So you want to live to be 100? The answers to living a long and happy life may come from Japan which has the longest average life expectancy in the world (83.84 years) and where 2 million people are over the age of 90. Believe it or not, 6 of the top 10 oldest people alive are from Japan including Nabi Tajima of Kagoshima who is 117 years old and the last human alive born in the 19th century! How did so many Japanese get to live so long? What are some of the things Japanese do right? In this episode, John travels to Tottori Prefecture to the area around Mt Daisen where his friend Tomiko-san gives him some advice about how to live a long life and how she's lived to be 106 years old and still working on the farm! Her secret? Tofu. She started to make tofu in the 1950s when doctors said residents had to reduce high blood pressure. She made her own tofu for her family and her diet combined with good habits including staying busy and working hard have strengthened her mind and body. She still walks and writes tanka poetry. I also ask Mr. Seiichi, my 97 year old Japanese neighbor his secret and hear from a Shinto priest about his thoughts and personal experiences with living a very long and happy life in Japan. It's impossible to say exactly what has led to Japan having the longest average life expectancy in the world but these things may help: ★ Green Tea ★ Less fatty foods ★ Seafood ★ Fermented foods ★ Bath culture / Hot Springs & Onsen ★ Smaller portions ★ Education on personal responsibility ★ National safety / low crime rates ★ Respect for the Elderly (It's a national holiday too!) ★ DNA Special thank you to Daisen Town & Yonago City in Tottori Prefecture for the help. Daisen is celebrating its 1300th anniversary this year and you're invited to the party in June 2018! http://www.daisen1300.org/ Music credits: Always thankful for TeknoAXE (Matthew Huffaker) Songs: Granny Jenkins / Harassing the Mailman https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtgf00GvfFQVsYBA7V7RwUw The video was produced and created by John Daub. What you NEED to KNOW when you First Arrive in Japan

07:34
This Japan guide reviews what to do in Tokyo when you first arrive at Narita Airport or Haneda Haneda Airport. First time travelers are confused what to do in Tokyo, where to go, how to get from Narita Airport to Tokyo, how to get from Haneda Airport to Tokyo as well as what to eat in Japan. I cover all these questions and much more. These are Japan Travel Guide tips I wish someone told me when I first arrived in Japan or even wish I knew before I came to Japan. This video is perfect for first time travelers who don't know the difference between Narita Airport or Haneda Airport. Also, I share with you how to Get a SIM a card and what useful apps you can download before arriving at the Tokyo Airport in Japan. I even provide some tips on Showers and Tokyo Capsule Hotels at both Tokyo airports. ----- Must Know things when First Arriving in Tokyo Japan ----- 0:51 - #1 Difference Between Narita & Haneda Airport Travelers flying into Tokyo for the first time, have an option to fly into Narita or Haneda Airport. Narita is the larger of the 2 airports and is generally known to have more international flights while Haneda has more domestic flights. Both have lots of dining and shopping areas, but since Haneda is newly ren, I have to give Haneda the overall edge when it comes to attractions. The biggest differentiator between both airports is the distance to Tokyo. Narita is about 1 hr away by express train, while Haneda is about 15-30 min train ride away. So it’s a little cheaper transportation-wise from Haneda. 1:23 - #2 Get Internet Connectivity with SIM Card Get your Japan SIM Card here: - https://www.mobal.com/japan 2:24 - #3 Download Useful Apps Transit and Map App: Google Maps Translation App: Google Translate What to do and eat in Tokyo (My Website) - https://www.tokyozebra.com/maps Restaurant Search and Reviews Website - https://tabelog.com/en/tokyo/ Messenger App: LINE - https://line.me/en/download 4:13 - #4 Showers and Capsule Hotels Narita Airport Capsule Hotel: Nine Hours - https://ninehours.co.jp/en/narita/ Narita Airport Shower Rooms: https://www.narita-airport.jp/en/service/svc_37 Haneda Airport Capsule Hotel: First Cabin - https://first-cabin.jp/en/cabin/ Haneda Airport Shower Rooms - http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/mo/en/premises/service/relaxation_shower.html My Luxury Capsule Hotel Video - https://youtu.be/1qRhxKH3imQ 4:58 - #5 Airport Transportation to Tokyo My Narita Airport to Tokyo Video - https://youtu.be/RX-iFy6qxto 5:54 - #6 Get IC Train Card Suica Card (JR) or Pasmo Card (Tokyo Metro). 5 Must-Try Japanese Food Experiences in Tokyo

14:39
Japanese Food is awesome, and the overall dining experience is just as fun. If you are looking for places to eat in Tokyo, here are five great Japanese food experiences that I love while living in Tokyo. 1. Japanese Grill (Robata) - You sit around a few men who cook all of the meat and vegetables right in front of you on a grill. You just point to what you want and they grab it with their giant wooden spatulas. 2. Ramen - My favorite Japanese food, and perhaps the most well recognized Japanese dish apart from sushi. There are hundreds of places to choose from in Tokyo, each with their own rendition of the classic. One spot where you can get a large variety of options is on "Ramen Street" in the lower level of Tokyo Station. 3. Yakitori - Meat and veggies on sticks, cooked over a similar grill as the Robata, Yakitori is a favorite among Tokyo residents because it's fast and goes great with beer. The most famous area for Yakitori in Tokyo is down "Memory Lane" or "Piss Alley" just outside the Shinjuku Train Station. 4. Chanko Nabe - The ultimate in gluttony for a normal civilian, but a necessary bulking strategy for up-and-coming sumo wresters in the Ryogoku neighborhood of Tokyo. There are many different versions of this massive stew, and they are all aggressive and delicious. 5. Conveyor Belt Sushi - As I mention in the video, there are a million different ways sushi is served in Tokyo. One of the most fun methods is by way of the conveyor belt sushi. *Bonus* - Convenient stores such as FamilyMart, Lawson's, and 7 Eleven are a major part of Japanese Food culture in Tokyo. People are busy and need a quick meal, so I wanted to take you around real quick and show you what's inside! --- SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/TravelDeeper --- FOLLOW ME: + INSTAGRAM ►https://www.instagram.com/tourist2townie + FACEBOOK ► https://www.facebook.com/tourist2townie + TWITTER ► https://twitter.com/tourist2townie + SNAPCHAT ►@GarethChat + WEB ► http://www.tourist2townie.com --- MY TRAVEL VLOGGING GEAR: - MacBook Pro 15” → http://amzn.to/2g9K6j3 - LaCie Rugged External Hard Drive → http://amzn.to/2fkojHR - Sony a7ii → http://amzn.to/2gCeBDj - Sony a7ii 24-70 Lens → http://amzn.to/2fhWexs - DJI Phantom 4 Drone → http://amzn.to/2g9ALI4 - GoPro Hero 4 → http://amzn.to/2gvfJYI - KNEKT Underwater Dome → http://amzn.to/2gez11u - Rode Shotgun Mic → http://amzn.to/2gvg5yg - Manfrotto 60” Compact Action Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gducpn - Joby Tripod → http://amzn.to/2gdo6FA - Zoom H2n Handy Recorder → http://amzn.to/2gdmKuE - Backup Batteries for Sony A7ii → http://amzn.to/2fhYchl - Backup Batteries for Sony RX100iv → http://amzn.to/2gvbqfO --- P.S. Barron Trump Play Date Covered by Secret Service's Big Guns | TMZ Chatter

01:49
Barron Trump's going to have seriously high caliber play dates from here on out ... courtesy of the Secret Service and the U.S. Coast Guard. The 10-year-old and his friends were hanging at Mar-a-Lago over the Thanksgiving weekend, and the lawn was fully covered by several badasses with BIG guns -- by sea, ground and, we're guessing, air. Donald Trump's Florida estate presents security challenges because of its accessibility from the water. The Secret Service has said it will deploy more than 920 agents to protect the President-elect, his kids, their spouses and his grandkids. What Japanese Prison Food is Like ★ ONLY in JAPAN

10:23
Japan has some amazing prison food, which should be no surprise. Inmates are served healthy, nutritious meals of grilled fish, salads, rice and soup - which are actually healthier than most school lunches around the world! Would you like to try what prisoners eat? There's a prison in Hokkaido that serves authentic meals to the public and that is where I went -- Abashiri. Abashiri is in the very north of Hokkaido and is famous for its prison. Their "Bangaichi Shokudo Diner" is the only restaurant that serves authentic prison food in Japan, the ingredients the same as the penitentiary nearby. The meals will probably surprise you! Prison Food Menu: SET A: Pacific Saury, 2 salads, barley rice, miso soup (780 yen / $7.00) SET B: Atka Mackerel, 2 salads, barley rice, miso soup (820 yen / $7.50) It's called the "secret meal" because Japanese Prisons are very restrictive with access to the outside world. However, Abashiri is dfferent and they've opened up prison life to the public and it's worth a visit. We also get a tour of today's prison cells in Japan. They have tatami mats, futons, TV, toilet and window. There are private cells and cells for 6 or more inmates. Japanese inmates typically eat their meals in their cells. The Japanese prison life is regimented, the schedule the same everyday. Wake up at 6:40am and lights out at 9:00pm. Meal time is three times a day for 20 minutes. Where is Abashiri, Japan? It's in Hokkaido's north, a 90 plane ride from Tokyo's Haneda Airport. https://goo.gl/maps/73BhKny43R32 URL: http://www.kangoku.jp/multilingual_english/ (in English) Curious about Japanese School Lunch? Japan's Secret Nuclear Weapons Program Exposed

04:42
Original video made & uploaded by nuckelchenblogde. Interview from rense.com. Video shows the partial demolition of Fukushima Daiichi Reactor No.4. Although the video has been speeded up, you can see that they seem to be in an awful hurry to tear the building down using some kind of huge plasma cutter. This event took place June 26th, in broad daylight, when most of Japan was focused on the vote in the Diet on the Consumption Tax hike, and it was not reported on by Tepco or the mainstream media. Wonder if that could be anything to do with all that RADIOACTIVE DUST they're kicking up? The interview (hope you can hear it) is with Yoichi Shimatsu - a freelance journalist based in Hong Kong. He is saying that this reactor was recently (covertly) modified to burn MOX fuel, a process which would give Japan the ability to make weapons-grade materials. Or ... maybe they had that ability all along??? Apparently Fuku Daiichi No.3 Reactor along with two others elsewhere in Japan had already undergone such modifications and were up and running. Plus Japan has the capability to deliver now with the highly successful H-2A rocket. And America is complicit in this, of course. These are shocking allegations with huge implications for the Japanese people. Japan's constitution (specifically Article 9) decries war, and especially the posession of nuclear weapons. SKorea confirms secret deals with Japan in comfort women agreement

01:58
(27 Dec 2017) South Korean foreign ministry said Wednesday that the country's bilateral agreement with Japan over South Korean victims of wartime sex slavery includes content that was not publicly disclosed at the time of its announcement in 2015. Seoul and Tokyo reached a deal in 2015 over the long-disputed issue of wartime sex slaves, so-called comfort women, who were forced into service during the Second World War Japanese occupation. But Kang Kyung-wha, South Korean Foreign Minister, said the agreement does not reflect "the universal standard of "victim-oriented approach" for resolving a human rights issue." Shortly after the inauguration of the new South Korean administration, the foreign ministry introduced a task force in July to review the overall content of the agreement. Oh Tai-kyu, the head of the special task force investigating the 2015 agreement, said the deal includes undisclosed parts, including some related to statues and monuments for comfort women. The Japanese government has been demanding Seoul relocate statues representing victims. Currently, there is a comfort woman statue outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul and another one at the Japanese consulate in Busan. The statues were erected by civic groups in an effort to call on the Japanese government to make proper apologies to the victims. Historians say tens of thousands of women around Asia were sent to work in Japanese military brothels, often through coercion and deception. Japan apologised in 1993 but the issue has remained an open rift with its neighbours, particularly South Korea, which has strong memories of Japan's brutal colonisation from 1910 to 1945. In the 2015 deal, Japan and South Korea agreed that Tokyo would pay one billion yen (9 million US dollars) to support the surviving South Korean victims, and both sides pledged to avoid actions that would antagonise the other. Highway through a Building Story ★ ONLY in JAPAN

05:48
Osaka's Gate Tower Building is an amazing sight to see because ... well, how should I put this? A highway goes through the building. It literally does, and there is a story behind it. In this episode, John not only goes inside to see where the elevator takes him, he also drives through it -- in a Lotus Seven. We'll also go up the Umeda Sky Building and catch some fantastic angles of the city, skyline and Gate Tower Building. THE STORY: Here it is from the building owner. It’s basically a land rights dispute with a sort of happy ending. The property was owned by a business (coal and wood company) since the early Meiji era but when business declined, so did the buildings in the 1970s. The area was approved to be redeveloped in 1983 but the property holder refused to give up the land, even though new building permits had been refused to him. The highway corporation and the property owner negotiated for 5 years and what you see today is their compromise. Highways usually buy the land they’re on but a new law in 1989 allowed the possibility of having two owners on the same spot, really meant for highways to go underground but hey – let’s get creative. The highway is the legal tenant of floors 5 through 7. The current building tenant on the other floors is TKP. WHERE IS THE BUILDING WITH THE HIGHWAY THROUGH IT? Google map: https://goo.gl/maps/qGbpaZ1Ktw12 Closest Station: JR Fukushima Station It's one stop away from JR Osaka Station on the Loop Line. Special thank you to TKP and the building owners for allowing me to film inside the building.
