Please Visit My FaceBook Wall https://www.facebook.com/pages/Monste... Another requested song... please enjoy!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After the Spinners and the O'Jays, the Stylistics were the leading Philly soul group produced by Thom Bell. During the early '70s, the band had 12 straight Top Ten hits, including "You Are Everything," "Betcha by Golly, Wow," "I'm Stone in Love With You," "Break Up to Make Up," and "You Make Me Feel Brand New." Of all their peers, the Stylistics were one of the smoothest and sweetest soul groups of their era. All of their hits were ballads, graced by the soaring falsetto of Russell Thompkins, Jr. and the lush yet graceful productions of Bell, which helped make the Stylistics one of the most successful soul groups of the first half of the '70s. The Stylistics formed in 1968, when members of the Philadelphia soul groups the Monarchs and the Percussions joined forces after their respective band dissolved. Thompkins, James Smith, and Airrion Love hailed from the Monarchs; James Dunn and Herbie Murrell were from the Percussions. In 1970, the group recorded "You're a Big Girl Now," a song their road manager Marty Bryant co-wrote with Robert Douglas, a member of their backing band Slim and the Boys, and the single became a regional hit for Sebring Records. The larger Avco Records soon signed the Stylistics, and single eventually climbed to number seven in early 1971. Once they were on Avco, the Stylistics began working with producer/songwriter Thom Bell, who had previously worked with the Delfonics. The Stylistics became Bell's pet project and with lyricist Linda Creed, he crafted a series of hit singles that relied as much on the intricately arranged and lush production as they did on Thompkins' falsetto. Every single that Bell produced for the Stylistics was a Top Ten R&B hit, and several -- "You Are Everything," "Betcha by Golly, Wow," "I'm Stone in Love With You," "Break Up to Make Up," and "You Make Me Feel Brand New" -- were also Top Ten pop hits. Following "You Make Me Feel Brand New" in the spring of 1974, the Stylistics broke away from Bell and began working with Van McCoy, who helped move the group towards a softer, easy listening style. In 1976, they left Avco and signed with H&L. The group's American record sales declined, yet they remained popular in Europe, particularly in Great Britain, where "Sing Baby Sing" (1975), "Na Na Is the Saddest Word" (1975), "Can't Give You Anything" (1975), and "Can't Help Falling in Love" (1976) were all Top Five hits. The Stylistics continued to tour and record throughout the latter half of the '70s, as their popularity steadily declined. In 1980, Dunn left the group because of poor health, and he was followed later that year by Smith. The remaining Stylistics continued performing as a trio on oldies shows into the '90s.

"You Make Me Feel Brand New" in a very special performance of Mick Hucknall on its "Simply Red Farewell Tour" in Java Soulnation Festival, Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia, 29th October 2010. "You Make Me Feel Brand New" was a 1974 hit by the Philadelphia soul group The Stylistics. The song was written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed. An R&B ballad, it was the fifth track from their 1974 album, Let's Put It All Together and was released as a single and reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart for 2 weeks. In addition, it climbed to #5 in the Billboard R&B chart. "You Make Me Feel Brand New" also reached number #2 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1974. The Stylistics' recording sold over one million copies globally, earning the band a gold disc. The award was presented by the RIAA on May 22, 1974. It was the band's fifth gold disc. The track first appeared on the Stylistics' 1973 album, Rockin' Roll Baby, in a longer five minute version. Simply Red were an English soul band that sold more than 50 million albums over a 25-year career. Their style drew upon influences ranging from blue-eyed soul, New Romantic, and rock to reggae and jazz. From their early days, the main driving force behind the band was singer Mick Hucknall, who, by the time the band was disbanded in 2010, was the only original member left. At the 1992 and 1993 Brit Awards they received the award for Best British Group. Michael "Mick" Hucknall (born 8 June 1960) is an English singer and songwriter. Was among the people present at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester in June 1976 where the Sex Pistols were playing. His interest in the music scene led to the launch of his career in the late 1970s, when he was part of the formation of the band Frantic Elevators. The Frantic Elevators released four singles, including a version of "Holding Back the Years", which he later recorded with Simply Red. As lead singer and core member of Simply Red, he has become the identifiable face of the band. His face and long curly red hair were featured prominently on album artwork and in videos. He has been described as "one of the truly great blue-eyed soul singers". Hucknall is also one of the founders and financial backers of the successful reggae label Blood and Fire. He also manages the record label simplyred.com. Lyrics: My love I'll never find the words, my love To tell you how I feel, my love Mere words could not explain Precious love You held my life within your hands Created everything I am Taught me how to live again Only you Cared when I needed a friend Believed in me through thick and thin This song is for you, filled with gratitude and love God bless you You make me feel brand new For God blessed me with you You make me feel brand new I sing this song 'cause you Make me feel brand new My love Whenever I was insecure You built me up and made me sure You gave my pride back to me Precious friend With you I'll always have a friend You're someone whom I can depend To walk a path that sometimes bends Without you Life has no meaning or rhyme Like notes to a song out of time How can I repay you for having faith in me? God, it's you You make me feel brand new For God blessed me with you You make me feel brand new I sing this song for you You makin' me feel so brand new Make me feel brand new Makin' me, makin' me, makin' me feel so new Make me feel brand new You, you make me feel brand new Make me feel brand new You make me feel brand new Make me feel brand new You make me feel brand new Make me feel brand new You make me feel brand new... This song is dedicated for you. Filled with gratitude and love !

Originally called Act 1, the group Special Delivery was a rotating bunch of Washington D.C.-based singers that had a brief moment in the spotlight in 1976. The group had had a minor hit in the UK, but it was the introduction of lead singer, former DC cop Terry Huff, that brought the act to its zenith. Fresh from a heartbreaking divorce that he contents was fueled by jealousy, Huff wrote the brilliant ballad "I Destroyed Your Love." Lyrically aching, the six minute composition was only topped by Huff's high, sweet falsetto. The single (split up into parts for both sides of the 45) only made it halfway up the Soul charts, but it was an absolute gem that has had a continued life both as a symbol of Washington DC's soul music high point, but also as arguably one of the greatest sweet soul cuts of the 70s, with the appeal of some of the top Stylistics and Chi-Lites cuts. It is still a regular on Urban Adult Contemporary radio more than three decades after its introduction. Unfortunately, the recording of "I Destroyed Your Love" was a rocky process, with Huff and group founder George Parker at odds and the group on the verge of breaking up. So, for the follow up single,"The Lonely One," Huff recruited his brothers (with whom he had worked in a teenage singing group a decade earlier) to sing backing vocals. It became an even bigger hit, flirting with the Soul Top 10. But by the time of its chart peak and the corresponding release of the album of the same name (credited to Terry Huff and Special Delivery), Huff was out of the group. While there are various stories on the reason for the departure, Huff told us that his split with Special Delivery occurred two weeks before the release of "I Destroyed Your Love" due to a dispute about writing credits for the song (Huff is generally credited as the sole writer of the song). Special Delivery continued on without Huff in the fold and charted one more time, with 1978's "This Kind of Love," before fading into oblivion with their 1981 release Living On the Run. Though he entertained offers following his split with Special Delivery, Huff's solo career never materialized and his national notoriety wound up being limited to two wonderful Soul ballads. His life after Special Delivery was well documented in a 2010 article in the Washington City Paper. Huff died of colon cancer on December 14, 2012. For years, The Lonely One was out of print and unavailable, but briefly was re-released in 2005 and later became available digitally, allowing classic soul fans the opportunity to relive Special Delivery's shining moment. by Chris Rizik
