It's weird to think that women in these families required other people to help them dress. To be unable to undress themselves must have felt so claustrophobic!
Nick Young (22 hours ago)
Bet a Victorian woman would feel naked in today's clothes

Women’s pockets. That term hasn’t been used since the 18th century. I’m disappointed.

Why do dresses from literally the eighteenth century have pockets and yet I still have shop in the men’s clothes aisle to get jeans with pockets
Makoto Tachibana (5 days ago)
Why not put extra pins around the dress that would prick anyone who got too touchy? Like, ball headed pins facing outwards on parts of the dress she wouldn't touch. Like, around her sleeves and anywhere else her arms wouldn't reach unless she was bending over, which she shouldn't do if she's a lady. If anyone tried to grab her, they'd slice their hand open. They should have used that tactic back then, at least for the really important women. Would've been cool. Just seems like something they would have done back then...sad they didn't.
