Leave the space near the tank. Instant nut warmer ,lol
Ryan Gao (5 months ago)
Always been a big fan of your videos! If I may ask a question, I built a similar fiberglass seat pan like yours, is it safe just to put in on top of the frame, using fasteners to fix it down? I mean is it ok to not have anything in between the fiberglass seat pan and the frame?
Cafe Racer Garage (4 months ago)
Ryan Gao I just bought a 1951 singer sewing machine to do the budget scrambler seat myself, the sewing machine has a bit of a funny story that I will tell in a video coming soon so look out for that one 👍😊
Ryan Gao (4 months ago)
+Cafe Racer Garage can't wait for that!
Cafe Racer Garage (4 months ago)
Ryan Gao hi mate, great question and I will explain this in an upcoming video, When the upholstery goes on usually they put a layer of material on the underside. Hopefully this answers your question

When you remove your oil tank what did you use to substitute it?
Cafe Racer Garage (5 months ago)
Not sure what you mean by oil tank
imaJMALuz (5 months ago)
Hi. I love your videos, it helps me a lot with the build of my bike. I'm doing my seat now and I was wondering what about the rubber bumpers? Are they not necessary in this seat pan? Thanks!
imaJMALuz (5 months ago)
if you search for "rubber bumpers for motorcycle seats" i think you will get the idea. In my old seat the rubbers are there to prevent direct contact of the seat with the chassis. I dont know if they are really necessary.
Cafe Racer Garage (5 months ago)
Sorry I'm unsure what you mean by rubber bumpers 🤷‍♂️??
Gavin Stevenson (6 months ago)
How thick was the foam that you used ?
Cafe Racer Garage (6 months ago)
Gavin Stevenson hi mate, the gray foam was around 50mm thick. 👍
Bruce Kirk (6 months ago)
Just bought that foam today I gotta build my own seat pan because I don't wanna loose the back cap and ninja pocket on my 78 GS1000
Cafe Racer Garage (6 months ago)
This is awesome, I can't wait to see how you go, send me an image in Instagram when it's done :)
jeff st laurent (6 months ago)

Cafe Racer Garage (6 months ago)
jeff st laurent thank you mate, I have plenty more videos to come so I won’t be stopping any time soon that’s for sure, I’m really glad that you enjoy my videos, and I’m always trying new things to be unique so my videos are fun to watch And with comments like this how could I ever stop :-)

What a cool series man! Im so glad i discovered your channel 😁😁
Cafe Racer Garage (7 months ago)
thank you brother, any questions just ask ;)
david young (10 months ago)
Fuck me I thought this was a piss take
Hey Dan, any chance you recall what the thickness of the foam is? Ran into the same issue today. Btw awesome videos you’re putting on here! Was at Cognito Moto’s shop last week to pick up parts and i chatted about you with Devin 😉
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Simon Wohlfahrtstaetter that’s amazing, have you done a few front end conversation? I’ve got some massive plans for this channel this year so it’s very exciting. So stay tuned and keep the comments and questions coming my bike building brother:)
Thank you Dan, appreciate the quick answer 👌🏻 I’m building a 72 CB750 sohc from scratch with everything from 1000cc built engine to gsxr front end. Just did the conversion half an hour ago and went flawless, as always from Devin. Yeah i’m sure it won’t take long for someone to pick up and sponsor your channel ... great content! 👍🏻
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Hi Simon, Thank you for the kind words :), Great question by the way, im always happy to help, the black foam was 50mm and the pink is about 25-30mm so half the thickness, are you building the same bike? I assume the conversion went well with Devin? I have a lot to offer Cognito Moto as a business due to my fast growing channel and I'm sure they will see this in time, I thank you for the support, its really nice to know im helping you in your build :) let me know If you need anything else.
Red Iron Tattoos (1 year ago)
Good video thanks for all the info 👌🏼 Question: How thick should the fiberglass plate be?, don't want the staples to poke threw😳
Red Iron Tattoos (1 year ago)
Cafe Racer Garage thanks for the reply, helps allot👌🏻
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Red Iron Tattoos hi my bike Building brother, great question, I’d use contact adhesive instead of staples, (this was advice from an upholstery guy I spoke to) I t Fibreglass I made with 5 layers of FG mat, it’s not very thick but it is strong 💪. Hope that helps
Charlie Power (1 year ago)
How much money was that fibre glass kit
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Wow Charlie, Thank you :) its these kinds of comments that motivate the crap out of me and keep me inspired to share my builds. You are welcome to leave me a comment anytime :) hitting the like button works too :) Dan
Charlie Power (1 year ago)
Cafe Racer Garage yeah, it’s really good to see someone make their own seat, instead of cut the frame adjusting to a pre bought seat. I’m about to make my own seat pan in the next few weeks and this is practically a tutorial which has definitely motivated me to make my own. Thanks man and keep the vids coming 👍🏽
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Charlie Power thank you mate 😁 I post 1 video a week. Sun or Mon. Thanks for the comments and questions I enjoy answering them ☺️
Charlie Power (1 year ago)

Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
JB Visuals hi mate and thank you 😊 I don't think I am lol only because I don't know what a bcr rider is 😶. what is it?
ThatGuyCalled ART (1 year ago)
I'm using the same method on my rigid frame bike
Alex Mayhew (1 year ago)
What type of foam is the pink foam? Do you know the name?
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Alex Mayhew I'm currently in the US myself, just jumped on a cruise ship 👍 holiday! Apparently a common foam used for the seats in the us is that multiple colour stuff it is called rebounded or reglued foam. It will work as well as this pink stuff, I would of used the multiple colour foam myself however we can't get it in Australia. Hope that helps
Alex Mayhew (1 year ago)
Cafe Racer Garage I live in the US
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Alex Mayhew I'm not to sure what it's correct name is sorry, however, it's the highest density you can get for an open cell foam here in Australia and all the upholstery or foam suppliers have it. Where do you live ?
Irvin Rosas (1 year ago)
what did you use for the base?
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Irvin Rosas its a custom fibreglass pan. You can see how I made this in one of my recent video 😁
Idol Chan (1 year ago)
great video. i am modifying a cb750 rc42 to a cafe racer as well. would hope to see your video on battery and wiring.
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Hi Idol, that is one awesome bike you have, the battery box and wiring is coming in just a few minutes :)
Andrew Bouloux (1 year ago)
Hey mate great vids! Where did you get the foam for the seat?
Andrew Bouloux (1 year ago)
Cafe Racer Garage in Cairns
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
I got it from a local Auto upholstery shop, It's very common here in Australia, Where do you live?
Tom Prud'homme (1 year ago)
looking good so far!

iRidetas (1 year ago)
mate looks good. I thought the black one was nicely proportioned but more power to you for going with exactly what you want. Thanks for the vid. the bike is going to look great!
iRidetas (1 year ago)
Thanks man! Appreciate it! 😁
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
That's awesome, I will check your vids out :)
iRidetas (1 year ago)
Haha i hear you. I do very little stuff in front of the camera and im not an over the top high energy personality type of guy! So the vids i do tend to be about the bike or environment not me!!! iRidetas is short for i ride tasmania. I make a few ride/vlog vids and am doing a build series on a bike for my wife atm!
Cafe Racer Garage (1 year ago)
Thanx IRidetas, I try and keep the talking to as little as possible but enough to explain what I'm doing as well as helpfull stuff along the way, It's always going to be more about the bike build and less about me and what i did for the week. :) As you have probably noticed lol Btw What Is IRidetas?
iRidetas (1 year ago)
No worries. Im loving your vids mate they are very high quality already so look forward to another step up and find them a good balance of how to vs fast watchable pace man so congrsts to you and i find the combination of it inspiring and im looking forward to seeing this and the other projects evolve! Take care and we will be watching! 😁
John Mård (1 year ago)
